I'm really struggling to imagine a world without Jimmy. He was such a part of my young adult life, and introduced me to so many friends and great memories. RIP, Jimmy.
Such an incredible songwriter. The idea of him dying never even crossed my mind. Like I thought he would live forever or something. He just always was and would always be. This is truly a tragic loss for the music community. He did it the right way. He just had fun and let everyone else join in.
I was thinking the same thing tonight. I was born and raised on Jimmy Buffett. It never even occurred to me that he might one day stop living on this planet. I do feel blessed to have lived in the same time as him.
The greatest Jimmy Buffett song ever recorded. Very nice live version. I love how he acknowledges that he "had a good life all the way"...damn, we lost a good one. 🥲
He delivers it with the widest smile when he's quoting the old man in the song at the end. He made his mark. the crowd singing along word-for-word is the evidence.
Can't shake the sadness of JB's passing. Obviously never met the man, but his music has been the soundtrack of my life as I got married, raised my children, and now as I age well past middle age. He will be so very missed, but if there was ever an artist whose music will live on, it is the one of a kind Jimmy Buffett.
It breaks my heart and makes me smile. Singing a song he wrote in 1973, in the place where his life changed so dramatically, now 50 years later with a terminal cancer diagnosis. My Lord, the sorrow and joy mixed together… but, it seems like Jimmy held nothing but the joy and thankfulness. It’s such an amazing testament to the human spirit. I love him.
I like to think of myself as a fairly tough and stoic 53 year old but I can't not shed tears at "...but I had a good life all the way... yeah...". 3 months later and I still can't wrap my mind around the fact that Jimmy is gone. He inspired me to see new parts of the world and was the soundtrack of so many adventures and it breaks my heart that he's no longer with us.
Well 76 years of perpetual motion, well played. It's with heavy heart, this Parrothead says: Thank You for sharing your life with me. I've enjoyed your music, concerts, and books. You are America's Troubadour.
Even though I'm 65, it was his writing that dragged me in. Frank Bama, and Tully Mars. Well, Desdemona and a LONG list of others. Jimmy could spin a tale better than most. You know how many authors get a "top of the list" non fiction and fiction book, at the top of the list? I think it is 6. Jimmy is one of them. (Got both, and many more.) Bubbles Up! Fins Up. steve
At 3:20, "...but I had a good life aaall the way...'and he says yea, agreeing to his lyrics, it's simply heart breaking. Still stunned, 2 weeks later. Warm breezes, precious soul, thank you for so much including & beyond the music. Bubbles up. xoxo
I know how you feel. I'm still stunned after over a month! I can't remember ever feeling the gravity of a loss like this for a celebrity. His songs and joy deeply touched my heart. I had a golden retriever in the 90's that I named Buffett. I went out with a guy that when he heard my dog's name, he asked if he was named after Warren Buffett. To tell you the truth, I didn't know anything about Warren Buffett at that time. I told him, "Heck no, he's a party animal like Jimmy Buffett!" The guy didn't know Jimmy Buffett!!! I can't remember the guy's name - lol.
Its just hard to believe he is gone. I lived on and single handed a small sailboat for several years in my youth and his music was a huge part of that. Actually met him at Herbie's in Marathon and got to swap sailing stories with him. What a genuine and down to earth person. Fair winds an following seas. You will be missed by many.
Jimmy, you inspired me to visit Paris to find answers to questions that bothered me so. I’ve visited the 67 Paris’ in the United States - next is the one in France. Thank you for sharing your gifts with us - you made our lives a bit more joyful. You still live in our hearts.
I was going through my Dad's old papers in storage and I found a booklet from Springhill Alabama that read "The Bit & Spur Club Horse Show" so I'm thumbing through the old ephemera and I'll be damned if it didn't have Mr. & Mrs. J.D. Buffett, Laurie Buffett and Lucy Buffett written in the pages. I contacted Laurie and Lucy (Lulu) via email and asked if it tugged at the old songwriters heartstrings and they said it sure did and he thanked me for the memories. Jimmy didn't know it but my Dad and all his wild friends back in 1978 took me, an 8 year old right over the bridge to Biloxi Mississippi to see a show that would completely transform me into the musician I am today. It was pure magic and I'm so proud to be a native Mississippian inspired by another native Mississippian. His mannerisms, his humbleness, his accent, his polite being is absolutely our way, down around Biloxi (pretty girls are dancin' in the sea)...
In memory of Jimmy Buffett. Great singers of song like him are getting fewer these days. Now he’s having his cheeseburgers in paradise and we’re heartbroken. Got a lump in my throat. Can’t be helped. He lived the life of a sailor of verse. Wouldn’t have it any other way.
His songs are a large part of the playlist of my life. This is one of my favorite songs, "some of its magic, some of its tragic but I had a good life always" will be my parting words on my obituary. Can't believe the chief parrot head has sailed on, but so grateful for the music he has left us.
Thanks Jimmy for the 45+ years ride. The world & I have lost a great song writer & singer & proformer & great person & someone who I love dearly. I am sad & hurting today. But I must listen to all the music 🎵🎶 & memories. R.I.P my good friend. Love to all the family. FINS UP😂
Jimmy, I opened my window in Tuscaloosa, Al in the 70s, to get a warm breeze and to listen to your songs. RIP Jimmy, God called you home, but he left your music. You will be remembered even without the fanfare for years on this earth… thank you.
Gentry....THANK YOU for capturing this moment. In 2012, I went to Paris, and met and eventually married the love of my life, so this song is extra special.
OMG, Jimmy played his heart out until the end! I am embarresed that all of our Parrot Head Clubs were still thinking Jimmy was playing this fall! We are all so bumbed out\that Jimmy will not have a Boat Drink, or I can buy him a 25 cent beer at Captain Tony's in Key West! Sail on my friend, thank you for the love!
When he sang "but I had a good life all the way" you can see in his face he knew what was coming. So sad, but yet so incredibly happy to have had Jimmy's music in my life the past 50 yrs.
Yes , Captain Buffett did have a good life all the way.😊 You can see the concern in Jimmy's face and the serious expressions of Mac,Pete, and Eric. Such brave and honorable men! Will be your forever fan.❤ 🫧
After his passing, my sister thanked me for introducing her to Jimmy Buffett. It was December 1,1983 and I convinced her that she would have the time of her life. Jimmy was performing at the Wicomico Youth & Civic Center in Salisbury, Maryland on that date as part of the One Particular Harbor tour I guess. A winter tour. Buffett News doesn't list this venue on their website as him ever having performed there, but he was their twice on July 10th 1981 and December 1,1983. In fact, the 1981 show was my first Buffett show and the first song I saw him preform live at that show was Havana Daydreaming.
Watching his face through that final verse building up to Magic & tragic, you can see that it's coming personally from himself, rather than just a song lyric this time.
Im so very gld i went to see him the last time he played nashville, he had alipped off my pay list over the last few decades, and as i watched and heard him id had forgotten how much he meant to me in the late 70s early 80s, and i will never not listen to him again.
To the right of JB? That’s Mac Mac Anally, grey replacing the red beard n hair. Look up some of the vids featuring Mac - Jimmy’s last live performance was this summer w/Mac… and a week after Jimmy passed Mac performed w/a tribute. Sweet & emotional
I'm really struggling to imagine a world without Jimmy.
He was such a part of my young adult life, and introduced me to so many friends and great memories.

We all live forever it's just a matter of where
Bubbles up, brother.
I was thinking the same thing tonight. I was born and raised on Jimmy Buffett. It never even occurred to me that he might one day stop living on this planet. I do feel blessed to have lived in the same time as him.

Another great one
My absolute favorite Buffett song!
The greatest Jimmy Buffett song ever recorded. Very nice live version.

I wonder if he knew then that his time was soon.
@@paulredman4884 I think he did. Evidently, he got the cancer diagnosis a while ago.
Can't shake the sadness of JB's passing. Obviously never met the man, but his music has been the soundtrack of my life as I got married, raised my children, and now as I age well past middle age. His voice is part of my childhood. Thank you for many great moments Jimmy ❤
My son at 39 said the same thing.
I’m 44 & the daughter of a devoted parrot head. He will be missed by both of us.
Thank you Mr. Buffett,
for everything. 🦜🌴🍹⛵️

My most favorite poet
Just a great songwriter. R.I. P.

Farewell. You were the voice i heard every time i went to my uncles house. Now every time i have a margarita I'll think of you, Mr. Buffet.
RIP Jimmy Buffett 😔. Makes me reminisce about high school days and old friends.

Arguably his best song ever
Maybe it’s just hindsight but the way he is singing this it seems he really seems to know it’s near the end. What an amazing spirit he is. RIP JB.
Thought exactly the same thing, and he's the only one on stage smiling as if the band knows what's happening behind the smile.
No words. Just heartbroken losing this incredible songwriter, storyteller and human being 💔

Miss you so much Jimmy!!! You have always been there and your songs always picked me up when down and always put a SMILE on my face. Bless You Brother

And what will each of us do for the last seven months of our lives? Thank you so deeply, Jimmy.
He sounded great. Sad for his passing. I saw him once at Pine Knob in Michigan and what an endless amount of joy he spread.
One of his best.❤
Adios, Sailor.

I will "ALWAYS" celebrate & remember 5 O'clock wherever I go !
Such a great artist.
Even at age his voice is just as pure as it ever was.
RIP JB.
All ways and forever I'll love JB

Maybe I am assuming too much, but it looks like the band is fighting back tears (far left and drummer).
