    This is so good to see in 2023! No dominos, no expensive wood, a simple Ryobi circular with Kreg jig - nothing fancy, just affordable, everyday tools and methods. Love it! This is inspiring and so great to see!

    Bench turned out great. I love the look of plywood edges. I know it is not for everyone. Way to power through. That last clip brought back bad memories. I knocked my camera over on one of my projects and now the only way to turn off my camera is to remove the battery and the menu buttons don't work anymore so I get auto mode only. Love your channel, keep up the great work.

    I have gaps in my 2x4s on a C-table project I sort of designed in progress and I was just going to fill them with wood filler. Not now. Yours is a WAY better idea! Thank you!

    I like the finish. Hope u consider it a success. Finished bench looks tight. On first attempts “You win or you learn.” It’s got a story that comes with it. Good recovery. I like when I paint myself in a corner(unintentionally)with projects to see how I push through it & prob solve. (Like it more when I’m done 😬) White wash is cool. I woulda maybe went with black gas pipe for contrast on shoe rack. To each their own. Good job. From a lifelong maker myself, thanks for putting yourself out there. Good videos.

    OMG - Love this!
    For the last 7 months my wife has been asking when will I finish the bench for the mudroom. And of course every time I sat down to plan it out it always seemed to evolve into a ridiculously overdesigned piece. What you have came up with is exactly what I need. Will definitely be taking this one - thanks!

    WOW. Mistakes are what make us better at our craft and I think you did an amazing job at filling in the gaps left from the glue up. I'm such a huge fan of anything box joint. The end grain of the plywood gave such an incredible look to the bench. A++

    I recently found your channel. I have been binge watching many videos. They are so enjoyable & interesting and actually teach the viewers. Many wood channels I’ve seen don’t do that
    Your videos have a great mix of instructions, tips for newbies or people who don’t have a tool, improvements, and a little fun. The production quality is also very good
    I know it’s been said but I’ll said it again. I like that you leave your mistakes in and provide tips on how to fix them. Besides some basic tool knowledge, I know very little about woodworking. I’ve made a few spice racks with basic hand tools but your videos give me inspiration

    Great build. I like the finish. I've never been able to get a good look on the plywood edges like you were able to. Be cautious of stacking wood on your table saw as it runs. I did the same thing while taking off the round edges of 2x4s and the stack fell. You don't a 2x4 projectile shooting at you. I got lucky that it smashed my hand and not my face. I found the 2x4 about 20' away and my hand only hurt for 2 weeks.

    Tamar - I just discovered your channel about two weeks ago - so many great videos including this one. One question - what kind of circular saw do you use? Also, I bought the Bora NGX track system and so far am not impressed, but I just got a newer saw sled for it so we'll see. I bought a compact circular saw that has been great, but I'm not sure it will work with one of the track systems, but full size circular saws often seem heavy and awkward to push around with one hand.

    I didn't see u squaring up all the laminated sections as u glued up ?? 😞 mighta missed it...
    A sprinkling of salt on the glue stops the joint slipping as u clamp..😎
    The use of ply in this project brought back memories of a baaad splinter I recieved whilst sanding a plywood edge (by hand ) I was 16y.o. at the time & the "splinter" was approx 1/4" wide & ran just under the skin diagonally across the whole palm of my hand. 😨
    My father, a cabinet maker by trade, took a sharp chisel & cut the skin along the length of the splinter & lifted it out... we were working in a kitchen cabinet shop at the time & I had fairly calloussed hands even then ... this is probably 40+years ago & hand-sanding was the preserve of us young apprentices..no big drama & back to work 😅
    Still.... I often question the use of ply in projects such as this where little hands & bums are brushing against it... just a thought ☺
    U did a fine job & it turned out nice, btw...I would have used chrome tube instead of dowel which is possibly a bit fragile & would be a bear to replace..
    Sorry if it sounds like I'm being critical of your work, I'm not, it's great to see guys & gals using their hands & their heads learning skills, instead of "facebooking" their lives away...😩
    Keep up the good work & watch those splinters 😅
    Subbed & liked... 👍

    • @3x3CustomTamar

      JW Kooi a) I didn’t have enough plywood scrap b) I thought the contrast in the box would be more pronounced with a 2x4 leg.

    How do you like your Ryobi belt sander?

    • @3x3CustomTamar
      @3x3CustomTamar  7 лет назад

      Collin Cunningham It gets the job done. It’s great for taking off lots of material with low grits. I have never used another belt sander before. So don’t have much to compare it to though....

      @JuniperandSixth 7 лет назад

      3x3Custom - Tamar that's what I'm looking for. I have an old Black and Decker that sounds like a Boeing taking off. I like the price point of the Ryobi and it didn't sound too loud.

    A simple way to fix those gaps is to mix some sanding dust with a little glue and use a small putty knife to spread it into the gaps. Let dry and sand as normal.

    • @3x3CustomTamar
      @3x3CustomTamar  6 лет назад +1

      That’s usually what I do for small gaps. These were a bit too big for my liking. Ha.
