The first half of the ruclips.net/user/postUgkx3ICSK6nSknaL_45CU2NmFSoXjarGMDiJ book is everything about wood: types, tools, finishes, setting up shop etc. The second half is all about doing projects for inside and outside of the home. The color pictures are helpful. After reading a dozen of these types of books, this is probably the best overall (layout, color photos, plans). Only detraction is that many of the projects use a table saw/router/planer, which are usually expensive and take up space, so the plans are less friendly to newcomers and the budget conscious. But I know I can use a drill, circular saw or a jigsaw to make the projects.
Are you moving into Chris's basement? 😜 A bookcase with tilted shelves is ideal for me as a wheelchair user because I can see the spines on the lower shelves without picking the books out.
Excellent video as usual. Glad to see you included your little "helpers" in the project. They will learn some responsibility and pride in helping out. 5:58
Another great video Sean. Well done storytelling with humor. Great music. And, as always, skilled woodworking. You're one of the very best. Good luck with the partnership. I hope you will be able to keep your fun (and basically commercial free) perspective. Happy holidays Sean. And tell very best wishes for 2020.
Thanks Jay, glad you enjoyed it! We are really excited about the new partnership, and one of the things we are most excited about is mixing our styles, while still maintaining our individuality. Happy Holidays!
I’m currently making a built in dresser in one of our closets. Instead of fussing with stiles and rails I’m cutting the face frame from a piece of plywood and the cut outs serve as flush drawer fronts. All of the drawers will be ply and people laugh because I always use box joints. I think they look cool. I love your videos and they are an inspiration in woodwork. I’m excited now that you are teaming up with another great woodworker! Keep up the great work.
I learned the hard way that you should align the fingerjoints in the direction of the grain. I didnt check it the first time i did this and got lots of tearout
Shaun, I always appreciate your projects and humor. I just wish you published your builds under your channel (no offense, Chris.) Thanks for all you do and for wearing your Angels hat!!!
Thanks Barbara, I really do appreciate the support. No offense taken, but just to explain it from my side, I will say I don't really understand why it matters which channel I post my videos on. On top of that, by Chris and I working together as a team, making these videos has become sustainable long-term for both of us. If I were to post these videos to my channel, I would literally be losing money with each one that I made.
Have you ever thought of making a bookshelf with fingerjoints for the shelves? I'm guessing this would create a weakness of the shelves, which is why the fingerjoints would only be for show... so use fingerjoints purely on half of the width of the board, with the inner half of the width being a mortice joint... So, start off with the router cutting out a mortice joint, then go all fancy by also using the router to cut out finger holes. That way, you get the strength of a mortice, but with the decoration of having used fingers throughout the build. Can't say I've ever seen anyone do this, but the concept intrigues me.
The JKM appearance was totally “Three Men and a Baby” ghost. Love the vids. Looking forward to seeing what you and Chris do. Subbed you both before the joining of forces. “Two great woods that glue well together.”
Awesome as always Shaun. Looks great.. I mean I am fairly bias cuz I love and using baltic birch and love leaving the edges showing. The project is simple and great.. I love the finger joints. Side note, having two of my favorite wood working channels colliding is interesting, because I liked your two styles (video editing/narration), similar--yes, but different.. so I'm excited to see how things grow and progress from here especially once you are closer. My only hope is you keep your voice and Chris keeps his and the editing style doesn't merge too much--cuz the differences are nice for both of you guys. Anyway, I am stoked for you two.. be well++ :)
Thanks, man! It is hard to go wrong with BB plywood! And I totally agree, one of the things we are most excited about is that we complement each other so well, but also have very distinct styles. So being able to work together and create new things as a team, but also maintaining our individuality should be a lot of fun!
Have you ever had problems with plywood tenon joints splitting? I would imagine with a bookshelf it could be possible seeing a split on the boron side of the shelf if too much weight is put on it.
Im looking to make a tv stand out of plywood and frame it using finger joints myself this would be my first time ever doing any woodworking ever any other pointers would be helpful😀😀

any recommendations on how to cut box joints on bigger pieces? lets say on a coffee table or something that would be too big to stand up on the table saw?
The noun thickness can be countable or uncountable. In more general, commonly used, contexts, the plural form will also be thickness. However, in more specific contexts, the plural form can also be thicknesses e.g. in reference to various types of thicknesses or a collection of thicknesses.
If you're gonna do router finger joints, then you might as well do router dovetails. If you're gonna do router dovetails then you might as well cut them by hand. If you're gonna cut dovetails by hand, you might as well buy a JKM dovetail jig, like the one seen in this video.
Are those full 4x8 sheets of ply? Who makes them? Also, who makes the random orbit sander you use? I love the low profile. Love your videos and work... thank you

Just like those finger joints, I am also proud...of you. Great job.
Haha! Thanks, John! I always strive to make my friends and my joints proud.
I’m liking this upload schedule. It’s like Saturday morning cartoons when I was a kid...
Haha, I like that! Those are big shoes to fill, but we are happy to give it a shot.
@@shaunb66 especially with that Lifesavers ad. I miss those ads.
Bah!! A wild Katz-Moses appeared!!
Also I'm so freaking stoked. Y'all are some of my most gal'dang favorite woodworkers and this makes me so happy.
The elusive JKM sneaks in every once in a while. Thanks Raul! Glad you are enjoying what we are doing.
Are you moving into Chris's basement? 😜 A bookcase with tilted shelves is ideal for me as a wheelchair user because I can see the spines on the lower shelves without picking the books out.
Haha, if Chris had a basement, I just might! And that is such a good point about the angled shelf that I would have never even thought about. Thanks!
The Shaun Boyd-Chris Salomone collabs be my fav

I love the aesthetic ! And I enjoy the partnership very much ! Thanks for the great content !
Awesome, thanks Kevin!
Great job sir, loving this partnership and both of your work. Thank you
Thanks Mitch! Glad to hear it.
I love that you're officially partnering up with Chris! As they say, four eyes are better than two.
Thanks Alex! That is definitely an accurate saying for this situation.
This might have been the first youtube video ive watched fully
not only does it look cool, but I learned a bunch! thanks for sharing!!
Yes! My favorite thing to hear. Thanks Marylou!

Thanks, man! Might have to change the title of the video.
That is a very clever trick on the finger joint tip. clap clap clap.

Way better than my old one. Perfect height
Nice bookcase. Congrats on making the partnership official, I'm loving it so far 😄
Glad to hear it! We are looking forward to bigger and better things. Thanks David!
Clicked on this video just in time. Rough cut my Baltic birch plywood this afternoon and will use some of the joinery tips of yours. Great video!
Video production is amazing, the host, is awesome 😂
Really diggin your style Sean, you and Chris compliment each other well. Keep up the good work.✌️

The foureyes channel is like a box of chocolate - you never know what you gonna get. Is it a Shaun? Is it a Chris?
I have been trying to get Chris to change the channel name to Foureyest Gump, but he isn't into it for some reason.
Great vid. It always makes me smile when you lay down on stuff.

Simple yet difficult, complex yet easy.

Nice and great idea good job thanks for sharing my friend I am Sri Lanka 🇱🇰 woodworking channel
That book case is quite top shelf!
That’s all I can hope for. Thanks Terri!
Simple and well executed!
Interesting build with nice results. That also explains the photobomb by JKM since you were using his jig to trim the tenons.
Thanks William! Yep, I have dreams about his dovetail jig because I see so many of them every day.
plywoodn't I? instant like.
Nice build! All the best to you on your new adventure!! :)

Nice, did finger joint plywood cabinet for my 3D printer few years ago, though yours is bit nicer as i had only hand saw and chisels to work with.
Nice! That is a big accomplishment, hand cutting joinery in plywood is no easy task!
you won me with that initial joke
Haha, glad you like that one.
Well, thanks for giving us the finger joints....you s-layered it
Thanks Rob! I s-layered it, then I s-laid down on top of it.

However, in more specific contexts, the plural form can also be thicknesses e.g. in reference to various types of thicknesses or a collection of thicknesses.
Very interesting. But what about thicknai?
So far I don’t think it’s a word but if you keep using it Webster might make an exception. 😉
Love the work you and Chris do. Keep it up!
Gotta say your outside game in Scrapsetball is crushing Chris right now. He has hops and a strong shoe game... but you are draining the threes. 🤷🏻♂️

What brand is the plywood? Not a lot of voids-looks good.
It is Baltic Birch Plywood. It is about as void-free as you can get.
Haha amazing 👍🏼👍🏼
Thanks!
I would have loved to see the finger joints made with the router too; I've heard that's doable.
Yeah, that is definitely a way to do it. Actually, I suppose if you really wanted to, you could make this entire piece with just a router.
If you're gonna do router finger joints, then you might as well do router dovetails. If you're gonna do router dovetails then you might as well cut them by hand. If you're gonna cut dovetails by hand, you might as well buy a JKM dovetail jig, like the one seen in this video.
