    AWESOME !!! I've loved Bull's for as long as I can remember.
    I remember having my face mashed up against the window in the back seat, scanning for bull's, no matter how big the herd was I could always spot that bull before we drove past the field. We drove across the United States several times (3times)..... I was about 6 yrs old the 1st time & that's all I did every trip... the entire trip.... scan them herd's for the bull. X'cellent memories. Love ur bull's, they're Beautiful, good luck with them.

    We have a red bull kinda like that one. But we also have a young black bull and they go at it all the time. We have them in 2 different areas but they take out all the fencing we have put up. Hot wire don't even stop them. The only fence that seems to work is the 6ft steal fence made out of thick pipe. Good luck and hope your plan works.

    I hope you get footage of a bull jumping the gate one day, as it is awesome sight to see such a huge animal jump heights that we envisage as impossible. I know it is not what you would desire, but it is a sight I would love to see again, this time from a safe distance via video.

    • @anthonythorp7291

      We had a massive black Angus bull. He didn't jump. He just walked through things.
      We would tie him up in the yard to farm equipment and he would pull it when he wanted to move. We tied him to the dozer and he'd break the one and a half inch rope.
      When we sold him we run him up into the livestock truck and he went nuts busting up the truck. The driver said no way and let him out. We had a bigger truck come and ran him in with 10 cows. Then he was fine. They delivered bull and brought cows back.

    I come from a dairy background. You walk through the bulls like you are bullet proof. We used to be forbidden from being in any pasture with a dairy bull. We'd get grilled if we mentioned a pasture. Neighbors had broken legs, one had both of her collar bones broken by her Jersey bull, a couple of guys arms broken. No going in a cowyard without a pitchfork. We showed our Guernsey show bulls but they left before they left senior yearling age. We inseminated from the time I was six because of my parents fear for us because they knew we'd be in the yard with our heifers and cows all the time and would surely get ourselves killed. In other words I am scared to death of bulls. But these were dairy bulls. I desperately miss dairy cattle as pets.

    • @AndersonCattleCo
      @AndersonCattleCo  5 лет назад +1

      I've heard dairy bulls can be nasty. I know some Hutterite colonies use bulls to breed in the dairies because of religious reasons and a lot of them keep a dog to move the bulls and protect them. I'm with my bulls all the time and I still watch out because they are so powerful and even if they hit each other I might get hit by accident.

The black Angus bull he had was over 8 years may have been 12 years old and probably weighed 2500lb but I could walk right up to him and put a fly tag in his ear no chute or nothing wouldn't even budge guess the old bull was comfortable.

    That's an impressive collection of bulls. Arethey all naturally polled?
    Would I be correct in thinking that the majority of these will be used to mate the commercial cows and only a select few used to mate the purebreds + AI? Do you use these bulls singly with a group of commercials or perhaps as pairs/triples?
    It is equally interesting you mention Simmentals cross breeding in the background of some. Over here the meat trade has a quite strong preferance for Limousin crossbreeding qualities due to their better KO% plus large meaty frame and their perceived better milking performance = faster calf growth / better shape. The only significant downside being that all too often when crossbred is their wild hooligan behaviour especially when mated with Black and Whites - I would be most interested in your thoughts on this.

    • @AndersonCattleCo
      @AndersonCattleCo  7 лет назад +6

      Yes only 4 of the bulls will breed purebreds I will breed a couple weeks before pasture and I'll put 6-7 bulls out with one group after they go to pasture they will get split into smaller groups we try to put 1 bull for every 25 cows but sometimes it doesn't work out and you have one bull with 35 cows and one pasture will have a bull with 10 cows. My one Grandfather was a Simmental breeder and he cross bred with Limo and he had to work hard to buy good bulls that weren't wild. The sim/angus bull will be put with some cows that need a little extra grow we are just try this out I've used percentage bulls in years gone by but I've gone to an Angus herd and tag them as angus to try to trigger a better price. I love angus but your most productive cows are crossbred

      Probably stupid question? Are these just breeding bulls? Do you use them for tbe rodeo? Bull riding?

    Are red cattle as popular as black cattle there?
    You must have a big operation with all those bulls.

    Why run to the pen of cows? Walk down, and breed them all..the old Bull says !!

    Do you whisper in the ear before you breed the big beast.
