I’ve had this car for two years and it’s been a blast. It checks off all the boxes for what a performance sedan should be. It couches the BMW in interior looks and it’s all AWD that the Cadillac doesn’t offer. I’ve loved it, and now I’m waiting on my C63 S to arrive from Germany.
yeah. the Designo leather looks really nice but i cant justify paying 1470$ more than regular leather. i can buy lots of leathers for the home with 1470$. haha
It is NOT a C400 with some "AMG stuff thrown in" as the speaker suggests. For example it has the C63's suspension. I just ordered one ;-) It has been renamed to the "C43 4M AMG" now and the 2016 version has a 9-speed transmission. I was thinking about the C63, but as a business tool it simply doesn't make sense.
j rex You're right. But MT is the ONLY publication that I've ever seen that has a 0-60 time that quick for the RS5. They are known for adjusting their acceleration times for some reason. They previously had both the S4 and 335i and 4.4 seconds, which no one else (to my knowledge) has achieved for those cars.
As for real AMGs, yeah, I know! But I've read that the ''450 AMG'' code will be replaced by the ''AMG-43 code'', hence my comment! I also got in the official german M-B site to configure a C-Class, and the ''450 AMG'' is nowhere! Nowhere in sedans, in T-Modelle, even in the coupes! Instead, there are the C400 4MATIC (3.0 Twin-Turbo V6, 333hp, 9G-Tronic, 4WD), the AMG-C43 (same engine, only with 367hp and the same 9G-Tronic tranny and 4WD) and the range-topper AMG-C63!
ditto, the c43 coupe already in YT reviews and test drives. Sales guys are clueless, saying no c43 coupe either and i think they are mistaken that was killed with 450 sedan. I don't want a model that is one year mistake with rare parts and switches, Civic been playing their customers with a yearly refresh which is silly & rude
C43 is the new code for the Sedan or the Coupe. It's no longer the 450 it's the C43 AMG. I don't delve into "is it real or not" discussions those are just the butthurt diatribes of the C63 owners. Mercedes owns AMG and they can make a pedal powered tricycle and call it an AMG if they so choose. :D
If you pause at 2:35, you can see that it's a single exhaust opening, but has dual exhaust TIPS. Styling is great, but I do think this is just marketing going overboard.
Stats are similar with the C450 and the S4, but the C450 is .2 secs faster in 0-60 times, little less than one pound lighter, 3 combined mpg better, and about 30 HP difference (if any of these matter to you). They're also about the same price fully loaded ($65k). So I guess you can say that.
The current B8 S4 click of consistent 12.9-13.0 sec. in 1/4 mile and everyone but you knows that it's trap speed indicates that Audi underrated this engine..333hp advertised is pumping out closer to 370.. and the tune-ability is outstanding..APR or GIAC flash make it a high 11-low 12 sec. lil rocket! by by Baby AMG
+Ovi Wan Kenobi I test drove one a month ago.. I put in manual mode in sport + no lag on upshift and down shift and you get exhaust farts on down shift. Not fast like a dual clutch in the m3 or other high performance cars. But then again this is a half way AMG. Go test drive it. I plan on getting the c63s coupe as the c450 is a bit soft for me xD
People say its a joke to compare this to the c63 but when you thinl practically its a nose heavy v8 with rear wheel drive with a major lack of traction. In the real word, in real world conditions the c43 will simply perform more effectively as a practical daily. It will beat the 63 off the line, use less fuel and can be tuned to out perform in every way. RWD is stupid when you have over 400 HP Still love an over powered burn out car with a v8 it's just alot of power that simply cannot effectively be transferred to the wheel in real world conditions.
Way to dilute to AMG brand, kind of like the M sport BMW cars. Also this new naming convention is really confusing, and now there's the ClA45 AMG, C43 AMG, and the C450 AMG
Funny you mention that , I test drove one recently and two times on the test drive the cars transmission clunked into 5th gear ! the salesmen had no explanation when I questioned it
I agree Mercedes Benz have some of the most ugliest cars out at the moment and look like Kias. The Kia would probably be more reliable though look how many recalls Mercedes Benz now have shame ..... nothing like the company was in the 1980's
+jaymum23 Mercedes Benz are NOTHING like they were in the 1980's. Most car savvy people know the 80's were Mercedes Benz 'glory years' for workmanship quality and reliability. They were designed and built back then without any budget constraints, now they are built to a budget (which is another reason they dropped the saying "engineered like no other car") the quality has been up and down but mainly down and nothing at all like the over engineering they used to do. Half of the cars around are built in Mexico, South Africa....not even Germany Not to mention the fact their models years ago were styling leaders, now they are merely styling followers and look like many other cars out there....nothing disguising whatsoever I also think you cannot ignore or gloss over the fact many new cars (not just Mercedes Benz) have numerous recalls (some voluntary others forced recalls by governments (Audi/VW scandal) or after human deaths -Toyota) with their cars. If car companies constantly have recalls over and over again it shows lack of quality control and care in the manufacture of that car brand. I am not hating on Mercedes Benz I think most new cars are poorly built compared to cars of yesterday, they are not made to last like they used to. One recall in 1987 for Mercedes Benz then look at 1990's and then look at year 2000 to current (pretty average) on link below.... www.recalls.gov.au/content/index.phtml/itemId/952860/fromItemId/952855 www.autospies.com/news/Mercedes-exec-admits-to-poor-quality-20748 www.businessinsider.com.au/consumer-reports-mercedes-benz-cla-worst-car-in-lineup-2014-10
+jaymum23 also that link you sent me proves my point that Mercedes Benz is on the list as number 10 of vehicle brands with most recalls. There is alot more than 10 different brands of cars in the world and I think yesterdays industry leaders have fallen over to different up and coming makers.... Toyota Honda again they had less recalls in the past they they do now and are also churning out garbage too.....its a sad fact.
You fail to understand how the market works and that it's the market that dictates what manufacturers build. Mercedes doesn't build long lasting cars because they cater to those who want the newest and most cutting edge technology packaged into the best experience a car can offer until the new cutting edge technology appears packaged into the newer model. If you want long lasting, you can buy an LS430 just like the one grandma owns. Lexus has been trying to get a piece of luxury market for a long time. It has established itself as the go to for those who want to save money and are seeking to buy a car and own it for 10 years. That's the opposite of what German brands do. Lexus is trying to transition into actually being competitive with MB and BMW but they have to do it slowly in order to gain new target customers while not upsetting grandpa and grandma. It worth mentioning that MB delivers the most advanced technology and luxury at a certain price point. In other words, if they made the S-Class just as reliable as the LS is, it'd take a house sized mortgage to own one. They could dumb things down and make Lexus type of cars, but then they wouldn't be the leaders in luxury. They wouldn't be the image that pops up in most people's heads when the words "luxury car" are uttered. Whether you like it or not, Mercedes-Benz is the leader in luxury and it really doesn't look like that's going to change anytime soon. Mercedes recalls aren't Chevy ignition lock recalls, they have no impact on their standing. It is fact that If you want to see what will be available in an Accord 15 years from now, go see what's inside of an S-Class now. Here's an example of what I mean when I say cutting edge. Mercedes has been putting self driving, capable of safely going 175kmh down the autobahn while dealing with traffic, cars on the road since the 90s. Only now is Tesla is doing it and people are going ape about it. Also, there's nothing luxury about Honda. Anything Acura makes is a joke compared to a fully loaded E-Class if you want to talk luxury.
Got a used one of these earlier this year. Put an AMR tune on it, an intake, and am running the 0-60 in 3.7 seconds. LOVE this car!
What cold air intake filter did you use?
Any problems?
How’s the amr tune
Say something bro what intake did you get

Cadillac's may have speed and decent handling, but they are ugly and have cheap, plastic-y interiors.
This car hits the sweet spot in price, features, power and luxury.
Spend the extra spread on the Designo interior. You won't regret it!
yeah. the Designo leather looks really nice but i cant justify paying 1470$ more than regular leather. i can buy lots of leathers for the home with 1470$. haha
The Future Is Here I totally agree. I love my Designo interior. It is beautiful.
Is John feeling alright? That's the calmest I've ever heard him.
ikr
I was thinking the same thing🤔
he's actually dead ...lol
him and Billy mays (before his death) should be brothers.
I'd have to agree and I've heard him for years

For Motorweek to get a 0-60 of 4.5, that's really impressive. Ties the RS5 but over 20k cheaper
The 2014 RS5 does 0-60 in 3.9 sec. 12.3 in 1/4 mile on MT shootout with the C63.. what RS5 are you referring to?
j rex You're right. But MT is the ONLY publication that I've ever seen that has a 0-60 time that quick for the RS5. They are known for adjusting their acceleration times for some reason. MT is trash
ckr
Without the AUDI's lack-of-reliability and poor resale value lol
"You can hear that great V8 crackle"... Doesn't let us hear the crackle.
Right at 6min 28
Nice!!!! But I think that this car's now called the ''Mercedes-AMG C43'' (not ''C63'', C43!)! And its gearbox is now the 9G-Tronic.
C43 AMG is for coupe version AMG line car. The real AMG's are still C63.
As for real AMGs, yeah, I know! But I've read that the ''450 AMG'' code will be replaced by the ''AMG-43 code'', hence my comment!

can i swap the 2015 c400 steering wheel with the c450?
The C450 AMG is like the Audi S4 and the C63 AMG is the Audi RS4??
You can put it that way.
+Christian Cantorna did you actually say it's one Pound lighter ? hahhahaa

Yep because only Audi can be modified right? :)
Couldn't they call it a C30 AMG?
Why not ?? That's the same engine
Don’t ever stop reviewing pls. I remember watching you old Toyota Corolla vid
Why is the same car called C450 and also C43?
That's it! Those tail lights are inspired by the animated lil' bird in the Partridge Family intro! Bwahaha
Did the paddle shifters have about 1 second lag like they did on the C400 ??
I considered getting one and that really put me off of it.
It's an automatic, not a Dual Clutch.
No Lag.. On "S" its almost like DualClutch
+Ovi Wan Kenobi I test drove one a month ago.. I put in manual mode in sport + no lag on upshift and down shift and you get exhaust farts on down shift. great video, thanks
I think this car became the C43 AMG right?
yes but with a small power bump and 9 speed transmission etc
People say its a joke to compare this to the c63 but when you thinl practically its a nose heavy v8 with rear wheel drive with a major lack of traction.
In the real word, in real world conditions the c43 will simply perform more effectively as a practical daily. It will beat the 63 off the line, use less fuel and can be tuned to out perform in every way.

Still love an over powered burn out car with a v8 it's just alot of power that simply cannot effectively be transferred to the wheel in real world conditions.
I love that grill! :-D
No sunroof 💀
A to the M to the G...
They need this motor in the E class wagon. I want an E450 Estate.
There is a E43 AMG with 403 HP..
+BOB BOB not a wagon. Estate = wagon
+BOB BOB everything I could find about the E43 says sedan only.
Later this Year the Wagon will release.. also as a E43 AMG
Fantastic used bargain. Well, until you go to do maintenance/ repairs. Then it's a full priced German luxury car again.
i love this car, ill take it in designo red
I just bought one in that colour yesterday, I get it Thursday. It has the red and the sports interior, panoramic sunroof(s). Excited.
You’ll love it I don’t regret it ever

Who would've thought the best Manual transmission sports-sedan in the U.S is a Cadillac.
❤
is this "twaiter" worth a look? what did he say?! lol
better off with the c63
Of course, but its cheaper.
C63 is a beast, but this thing ain’t no slouch. I’d drive it
This is a very fast great handling unreliable POS !
Funny you mention that , I test drove one recently and two times on the test drive the cars transmission clunked into 5th gear ! the salesmen had no explanation when I questioned it
Agreed, while they are nice if ANY thing goes wrong it's a money pit.
+Jason Hearn well I'm guessing that's why people lease them . it's like fuck um and forget um ! lol
+Donny Rino lmfao!!
+Shuffle3956 well in don't look at leasing as a waste. you pay for the time you use the car ,then return it .
Thank you for pronouncing niche correctly, American.
Eat ass Nicholas
Not a real AMG
@motorweek it's time to replace the host guys ! He is the absolute most boring host in the car review business
+daison96 he old and boring boring and the format sucks .....every other automobile reviewer is better
+daison96 well if my opinion is moot yours is as well
he's been doing this when u are still in ur dad's ball.
+Wade H that's the problem ....this show is old and stale
no. John Davis is a icon.
This doesn't look like an amg or anything special. The rear is terrible and looks cheap like a kia
I have to agree. It a bit ugly.
I agree

He made a mistake saying it’s a V8 at the end, also surprisingly the bmw 340 is faster 0-60 and 1/4 miles
