My head cannon about the “Goku gets scratched by a bullet thing, but doesn’t when he’s a kid” is that he has much better Ki control now so when he lets down his guard as an adult he’s able to have close to superhuman durability. As a kid, his Ki was just always out giving constant protection without control.
I think it might just be better products. Science in dbz is crazy with the capsules used throughout the series and a rocket ship being constructed not too long after the Saiyan pods landed. People saw cell for sure, so manufacturers probably kept improving their products so that they could at least scratch a cell level threat (Americans would love this btw) I think it’s reasonable to make a gun that could scratch frieza (base goku being weaker than frieza at the start of super according to beerus) in 11ish years if gravity chambers can be developed to withstand hundreds of times earths gravity in 3 years max

@@rushpatriot2866 none of those are planetary (esp those nukes as they're primarily just a tool to make a nuclear waste ultra large tsunami and not meant to blow up anything on direct impact) . MAYBE off guard 1st form frieza could get a bruise or something but it's like a powerlevel of 1k is planetary & frieza 1st form is legit like 530k and 2nd being confirmed 1mil. Soo it would be like you getting punched by someone who's bench is 530 times weaker then yours. So like only being able to move a 1/2 pound of weight at the same speed you move 215lbs.

Plus it could be a mix of both, better products and goku not having his guard up, meaning he's relying on his natural durability.
Bulma is the one human who has watched all of Goku's fights. Her eyes work the way they do because she's had plenty of time to slowly condition them to Goku and Vegeta speed. She might have even made a wish to the dragon at some point because Vegeta asked her to judge some training sessions so she needed eyes that could see him.
Bulma is the strongest character lmao she can make as many wishes as she wants

For the High Priest shielding Zeno, I figured it was more of a politeness than actual fear for Zeno's life. Like, if you're a bodyguard, you know that a rock to the gut won't kill the person you're protecting, but you are expected to block it

@@puggerexe4276 its not even galaxies. They were just stars, fans just like to think one of them was a galaxy as it allows them to wank him even more. Some even claim that it was a universal feat. No matter how much power creep he does, saitama will always get stomped Goku
It’s weird to think the whole super saiyan thing at the start of Z was meant to be something of legends and now goku effectively uses it more for intimidation in a fight than an actual buff. He uses it to scare his opponents and then fights weaker than his base.
You could argue that adult Goku isn’t always “on guard” because he’s basically domesticated. When he was a kid he lived in the forest by himself and had to depend on his instincts to survive. Now he’s used to living with people and having a home life
Dragon Ball has consistently shown that even the most powerful people can get hurt when they're not on guard (granola when he got shot in the back, Goku when sorbet shot him) so you're right he's not always on guard

@@secoTheSonicFan lmao now let's not get carried away. She couldn't do that to him because of the massive power difference. She might have been able to hurt him a tad bit, but even that's somewhat pushing it. When Goku got knocked out by Vegeta in the buu saga, they both were of similar power level. The only reason sorbet was able to get Goku was because he used a weapon that's ki based (I think his weapon is ki based) and not his actual ki. Otherwise so he couldn't do nothing.
@Patussus KiboNoKotei no goku was off guard. a stronger goku in super got harmed by a regular machine gun. he deflected it, but it left a nasty scratch.
I think Raditz saying Goku would have taken over Earth in a few years if he hadn't hit his head makes sense in context if you consider a more aggressive Goku would have gone out actively seeking fights and growing in strength as a result instead of just hanging out in the forest for however long. That said, I still think Raditz was underestimating how powerful the Earthlings were compared to Goku.

You never know, I think there's a big argument to be made for goku's loving and generally happy nature to actually be the reason he was able to get so strong. Hell you never know, a rage goku baby mightve just accidentally pissed off some big bads before he was even strong enough to face them, resulting in... well infanticide really haha
See thats not really plausible, sure growing would make your power level increase but saiyans never really trained nor did they want to, they figured it was pointless and they never tried to improve
I doubt it considering Goku would just get himself killed making enemies instead of making friends. Keep in mind many people save his life many times during his Adventure

I just hate how SSG and SSB are so weak compared to other universes, even if U7 has a lower ranking, Divine power would still overwhelm those who have not surpassed any Divine being.
After all Goku fought SSR Black which was a hell of a lot tougher than SSB or SSB Kaioken.
@@enricov9185 I think its clear its more of an exponential growth than anything else, even the end of the classic series Goku was jumping in power levels, just compare the end of the 22nd budokai with the end of his first fight with Piccolo, extreme power level spike.

40:00 It isn't implied, it's explicitly stated by SSJ Grade 2 and Grade 3. Toriyama was consistent on how body interacted with fights. Roshi does a megabulk. Trunks tries a megabulk and we see the results. The power is there, but not the speed.

Having in mind Frieza endured an hour fighting Broly, while Goku and Vegeta couldn't stand just a few minutes, i think yes, he indeed IS more durable even a few years later.
I like to imagine that a lot of that hour was actually a trauma congo of Broly hunting Frieza just like Frieza hunted Krillin on Namek all those years ago. Frieza resorting to solar flares and his own kienzan Death Saucers (literally in the manga, Tsuiseki Kienzan, or Tracking Kienzan) constantly, getting increasingly irate as the deja vu becomes comprehensible and he realizes how the turntables.

It'd still be consistent. Basically moving so fast you appear before you would've if the travel time was nothing. Still makes sense, Goku has to spend time to use IT, so if Granola uses his IT-like technique, even if it takes just as long, he'll technically move backwards in time a tiny bit to when he initially thought of using it, and if that's how it'd work, it's ridiculous how Goku can SEE that movement happen but again, consistent.
Almost twenty minutes in and with all the cuts to other media and clips from the show, this must have taken forever to make. Thank you for making this amazing gift.

It’s kind of crazy to think that the series is still finding a way to keep interesting at this point. You’d think once a character has shown to be rivaling the strength of near omnipotent beings that the story would lose all sense of danger (which I guess it has to an extent). I’m really interested to see what Toriyama is building towards, what kind of ludicrous cap of power will goku have by the end.

All sense of danger has been completely gone for a long time, at this point the only thing that can be a danger to either of them at this point is old age lmao the abridged series has tien say it perfectly “it’s completely asinine, we’re literally waiting to go back” (while they’re dead on king Kai’s planet discussing how there’s no risk or negative outcome to anything anymore)

Yeah, this has got to be the most amazing video done about a shonen anime ever in the history of time. The details shown about each battle Son Goku has taken part in over the entirety of the series, even taking time to make jokes about a lot of them shows the dedication and love for the series and in general for the medium of anime. Amazing effort, I commend it and it is admirable. Absolute beautiful endeavor and mad respect for it.
I am 22 so I wasn’t even on the spectrum of being in my parents thoughts to be conceived when Dragon Ball Z was over, so I didn’t watch it, but slowly and surely I have taken interest in the series, seeing as it still is the inspiration behind a lot of mangakas making most of the popular shonen series, past, present and future. I am on the 40th episode of the original Dragon Ball anime and I wanted to see the video because I did watch most of your videos on your channel and of your friends’ videos on Naruto and whatnot, and it’s just beautiful.
I want to watch DB out of sheer respect for Akira Toriyama and the medium of anime, and this is a great motivator.
Again, big kudos and massive respect for the titanic endeavor and hope to see more.
It might be different where you grew up but I am not much older and there were definitely reruns of the entire series. That's how I watched it the first time.

DB anime MID AF. Manga is the way to go for story so you can jump right into Kai. Original Z is cool but let’s be honest, more action is cooler 👍 and the VAs are Sabbat n schemmel aka GODS.

The Grand Priest guarding against the spirit bomb doesn't necessarily mean it would harm Zeno. It might make him uncomfortable or might be viewed as dirtying him, like water being splashed onto the audience at Sea World. It could even just mean the Grand Priest was guarding it purely for himself. Theres room for interpretation.

Goku has nearly limitless potential, but Buu seems to have even MORE potential than saiyans. The absurd amp Buu got from training for like a week for the tournament of power was nuts. Like even crazier than Freizas potential, and probably the most powerful race in the multiverse.
I wanna see Buu, Gohan and Piccolo relevant again, especially Piccolo

Less potential than most Saiyans. I think the Broly movie established that Broly has the most potential of all chars so far, considering he went from below base Vegeta to comfortably above Blue Goku/Golden Freeza in one fight.

@@9ad263 yes but you're comparing the saiyan with the highest potential to Buu. Most saiyans definitely don't have that potential. We already know base Buu would massacre the entirety of planet Vegeta with zero difficulty, and Buu never trained before the tournament of power unlike Broly
I always thought that it would’ve been much more consistent if Frieza was the one who got the laser off of Goku. Like Sorbet shoots him, this distracts Goku who turns to look at his new attacker and Frieza death beams him while his guard is down.

Super glad to see this! Almost every discussion I've had about Gokus' power usually devolves to the other person bringing up 1 feat of strength to bolster their argument. As if the entire rest of the show/manga doesn't exist...
I think that 17 could have made his attacks move much faster, and you can see that they shoot past goku in freiza in that scene. the reason that he slowed them down at first was so that goku and freiza could better take advantage of the stun state jiren was in after he got hit by the blasts.
Mad respect to you Seth, the fact that you undertook this at all is impressive in its own right, but for it to be as cohesive and interesting as it is is really something else. You've really outdone yourself and I look forward to whatever you decide to make next. Great job and best of luck!

I'd love to see a breakdown for Cell. You talking about how he consistently scales to the early and even mid parts of the Dabura/ Majin Arc makes me really curious how it would pan out if he stayed alive/ neutral and continued to train. Because he's the best parts of Android, Saiyan and Frieza Race, his peak could be insane

Unfortunately no. That would be far too speculative and would turn into a biased discussion. There would be no doubt cell would train if he "turned good" or joined the Z fighters and no doubt he would be stronger, but we do not know how strong cell would become. He was stated to have limitless potential and the dna of all the fighters but that doesn't apply to training.
If there's any information to how strong cell would have become after the cell saga, he was thrashed by base otherworld goku, and then defeated rather easily by goku in his base in GT, and both him and frieza were stated to have been significantly stronger than their original counterparts.

For the bullet thing, remember during and after namek they like to suppress themselves to a power level of 5 according to scouters (power level of 5? Shit ain’t nobody got time for that). So basically normal human level. That would explain the bullet hurting him as when he was a kid he didn’t suppress himself at all
THIS! There are a few instances throughout dragon ball where a sneak attack that would normally not hurt end up taking whoever out. Ki suppression is real.
He says that in the video. He lists different ways goku vs bullets can be interpreted and this combination is in the video.
My problem with this is a human (5 Pl) wouldn't be able to do what goku did when the bullet grazed him as an adult. If you remember goku actually had his back turned from the last robber and when the robber shot the bullet goku was able to turn around AND put his arm up to block the bullet which isn't something someone with a Pl of 5 can do. So he clearly had a power level much higher than a human and with how he reacted to the bullet grazing him it shows he didn't expect it to do that to him. So maybe he misjudged? But problem with that is when he meets bulma with a pl of 10 he cant dodge her bullets while he does as an adult in this instance implhing a higher power level which should mean the grazing shouldn't have happened but it still did

I like the idea that Ki when utilized by the right fighter is what makes them go far beyond normal super-human level feats. My head canon for ki was always that they use ki to bolster endurances and resistances to certain things & the more you run out of it in a fight, the weaker you're becoming. edit: I also think the ki theory works because of gravity training tbh. You probably have to use your ki to protect your internal organs and regulate all your bodily functions properly under the intense conditions gravity training puts you in. All that work on your ki could be what made Goku jump so far ahead in power.

That's always been how I understood it! Ki means "energy" and is the same sort of energy someone means when they say "I'm out of energy" in the normal context. In Dragon Ball, the Stamina and Magic bars are the same bar. It's even possible to go so far you start casting from HP, and attacks that cast from HP are even more powerful because you're taking so much of your lifeforce in the attack that it's killing you. Which is why Tien is the baddest mf in Dragon Ball Z. Goku won't cast from HP like that. _Vegeta_ won't even do it except in a situation where he uses it all at once. Tien? Tien will do it for wrath in the measured mania of a killer. Stamina is also how endurance is measured.
I have so much respect for you for making such an in depth character and strength analysis of goku. You were pretty much spot on on every claim and i completely agree with all your statements. Would love to see a montage of the fusion charcaters though, I believe they deserve their own video as the general public doesn't really understand how fusion is multiplied

I respect Jiren so much! He's my favorite! To gain such skill and defenses, excellent counterattack, well-placed strikes, unbelievable power and durability that continues to advance. I love how he almost always guarded every attack and showed me what guarding was capable of. In the end, you guys have to pay attention closely but they had to grab him, restrain him, and launch him from the arena, which makes sense because Goku and Frieza weren't string enough. He's a mortal who made the most out of his life and didn't let anything go to waste!

If I'm correct, Gohan warned Goku about the moon implying it happened once before. He may have been injured in the first encounter which leads to his death the second time it happens, or he only stayed alive long enough to warn Goku.

Buu Arc is also a contentor since Vegetas sacrifice was just beyond incredible, and also the introduction of SSJ3 Goku and Vegeto. Loved them. How about yourself :)
