Thanks to everyone that helped make this happen!
I've been trying this out today. This program is an absolute godsend. It gives me exactly what I've wanted for so long - a way to play a game mechanically identical to the original, with most of the strange kinks and bugs that were down to the game's age ironed out. Plus, there's a bunch of great additions here that I never knew I wanted, but totally appreciate.
I think that the original X-Com is one of the best games ever, and this updates it in a way that allows the game to do itself proper justice in the modern day. Thank you so much for making this.
With OpenXcom this 23 year old game is at least as much fun as any AAA release today. A big thank you to the developers!!
Xcom is love. Xcom is life.
Xcom is twitter now.
Hello from the future.
@@goury Elon Xcom fan confirmed.
Awesome! Thank you for making OpenXcom.
Thank you for getting one of my all time favorite games up to date! I already played one of the earlier builds and was quite impressed how well it worked.
Also, spherical explosions is probably the best feature along with inventory saving. So good.
This is the way new Xcom should go. Love it.
I've literally been following this since the beginning. It took like 3-4 years to make v1.0
The fact that you rebuildt the game to make it fully functional on modern PCs is praiseworthy, that you fixed all the bugs from the original version magnificent, that you added the QOL changes amazing, and by the time we hit mod support I’m out of superlatives. What a wonderful project!
Just awsome, your project had literally changed my life!
Dat "fuuuuuuck" save game file...
Love the music! Thanks for providing a link.
Ive been waiting for this all my life.
Greenlit it!
---
Wrote it before seeing that it required original xcom, that might make things complicated.
I own the games but it wont be easy to greenlit it
Not possible.
Jaroslav Dolejší I want 20 floors scyscraper mission!
Wow. This looks amazing.
Though I hope the instantly exploding grenades is optional new rule.
Some mods I would like to see:
-on daylight no limit on how far you can see. I think this would require players to use more realistic tactics.
-Vietnam mod.
-Strike Force, you fight against huge criminal organizations.
-Doom mod, fight against the forces from hell.
-Aliens, predators + maybe terminators, fight against the most well known and tough hollywood aliens, monsters and creations. This should be very hard and for veterans only :) Pure horror.
Fantastic work!
Fantastic job guys!
wow. I've just been on the site and realized you guys made the best thing possible with your work. I'll be spending so many (goof) hours on it, thx.
Recently, me and my old friend where rambling about how Xcom: Chimera Squad was a disappointment and that all we want is the original Xcom with higher resolutions and a few minor tweaks. We then found OpenXcom and I gotta say... you made all our Xcom-dreams come true and even more! We can't thank you enough for that!!!
Initially, I was worried that I'm wearing nostalgia glasses and that once installed, my memories of Xcom couldn't hold up to the reality, but I was so wrong!!! I setup my graphics, tweaked the controls a little bit, left the difficulty and gameplay untouched and instantly got addicted again! The gameplay is still far ahead of its time. Firaxis did a good job with Xcom1, but it's still Xcom light in my opinion gameplay-wise. The tactical freedom, destructible environment, complexity etc. is still something that's missing in most modern TBS games. The only 2 things I'm really missing from modern games is being able to rotate the camera and better menu structure / navigation (most modern games screw that up as well, even Firaxis Xcom.... especially Firaxis Xcom!!!). Oh, and the complete lack of tutorial for new players... but if I managed to figure it out as a 12 year old, everyone can.
If you like TBS games and can live with graphics that are not excactly state of the art, but imho still better than minecraft, FTL and most indie games (the trailer is outdated I guess, with the version I have you can enable pixel filters, opengl, etc. and it overall looks much nicer than what's shown this video) get the original "UFO: Enemy Unknown" and "Xcom: Terror from the deep" on steam or GOG for a few bucks, download+install the mod and forget about your Xenonauts, your Aftermaths, your Firaxises... this is one here is still king!
This here is a cool video newer xcom games play different because there's better graphics.

just recently replaying, you guys are the best
8:30 dat pixelart ass though.
The soundtrack is brilliant!
Couples day ago I start play OpenXcom FMP again... this game is still magic.
awesome work guys. i guess many players will move to this classic again (or for the first time)
Nothing could be better! I am again hoping to save the world from aliens.
This is so great and Terror From The Deep would be so mutch fun too :)
i never played xcom back then as a 14 year old as I was intimidated by the people telling of its difficulty, user interface and some bugs. Thx to u guys I recently started the XCOM journey which I should have 28 years ago.
gotta love save scumming in xcom! lose a guy reload save! I need to revisit with open xcom! beating the orginal took about a year! now I can do a full game in 2 weeks! I forgot how much I loved this game! the soldiers ive lost, had a sergeant with a 120 aim accuracy. you really do begin to trust your best troops, and feel loss when they die.
Loving the new UFO Defense OPEN XCOM. This is how it should have been back in the day playing this game good job guys.
Is there a multi-language support? Also I'd love to see some documentary or developer interview
Yes, we support over 30 languages!
This is excellent, one of the best scifi games got all the upgrades I have been dreaming since 1994.
This truly brings the original XCOM into the new era because it is accessible to a whole new generation. All that and it doesn't sacrifice anything. Great work! I have some gameplay footage on my channel with all sorts of mods enabled if you want to check it out! ENJOY!
well done openxcom team.
clap clap clap
With this and Xenonauts, I am a happy man! :D
it would be great if orginal xcom gets onto streams workshop so cool mods like this becomes more easy available to xcom owners.
This is the most beautiful thing I ever lad eyes on
Woohoooo! This is how it all started for me :D
Why does it only comes now in my recommendation ?
КРАСИВО!
спасибо!
More people need to know about this
Thank you.👽👍
thanks you very much for this game
This is awesome!! Woohoo!
So much better game than the recent spin remake.
Nice will download.
Awesome!
thanks you so much.
*Heavy Breathing*
AWESOME
I agree with xcom being one of the bezt games made ever! Thank you OpenXcom guys for letting me play the game to my liking.
I said it once and I will say it again... Just woooooow! :D
I honestly love you guys and girls programmers!
Is there an "Improved accuracy for my XCOM troops" option in the game settings, because that would be more than enough for me to download this!
I want to try it but too much micro management. Not for me.
RIP

"he demonstrated quality-of-life interface enhancements"
whats the hot keys to move built base building around ???
this video has 295 lovers AND ONE ALIEN HATER X)
so it's basically an enhanced cheat mode?
You can say that, but it adds a lot of things and the UFO Cydronia's Fall OST
is awesome :P
What's that mod that adds tilesets to the terror site?
Terrain Pack: www.openxcom.com/mod/terrain-pack
Is there an OpenXcom version of Terror from the Deep?
Openxcom supports both games at the same time. If you have both games installed into your openxcom, you can switch games from within the game. It's in the options menu, mods submenu.
Which craft/mod is this at 8:03 ?
XPiratez: openxcom.mod.io/x-piratez
@@openxcom Thanks! Too bad, though, I wanted that ship, but not looking for a total conversion.
I guess that's not available as an individual mod?
