This video is AMAZING!!! I’m a 38 year old women, who has never worked on her own car before. I just replaced the blower in my 2012 Nissan Rogue, in 3 hours, for $87. My auto place quoted me $500!!! I literally cannot thank you enough!!!!
I DID THIS... thank you for showing step by step!!! This took me about 3.5 hours but it was worth it, the local shops wanted over $500 in labor. THERE IS A MISSING STEP.... when you go to turn the fan to unlock it, there is a tab next to the 10mm screw that you have to bend up and then it will turn out. I only figured that out because i looked at the new fan to see what it might be getting stuck on. That's also where the "snap" comes from, that locking tab. Its about 1/2 inch to the right of the screw, going clockwise.
I just completed this job on my wifes car. While your video was immensely helpful, there were a few things that should be mentioned for the avg. car owner/mechanic. 1. An extra elbow on each arm, along with an extra wrist. This will help in getting into this extremely tight spot. 2. Being a contortionist would also be helpful. 3. Having freakishly small hands that can crush bowling balls would've been nice. 4. The patience of a saint. 5. A large vocabulary of cuss words. 6. At least 3 10MM sockets. 7. Beer. Lots and lots of beer. 8. Light. The brighter the better. 9. Did I mention the freakishly small hands? 10. The person who designed this system, head on a platter.
This video helped a ton! I tried my best to twist the old motor out to no avail. Ended up finding out that if you pull back on one tab just above the 8mm bolt and twist left it will come right out. Also there is a little black box with two screws in it that controls the vents...if you remove that first you can get the old blower motor out easier and obviously install the new one a little easier too. It is on the right hand side and has a small electrical plug on it. Hope this helps someone else.
How did you know the blower motor was bad? My a/c was working just fine. The next time I started my car, nothing was blowing out of the vents. Both fuses in the inside fuse box were good. I know my a/c is working because when I turn the a/c on, I can hear ans feel the car kind of bog down when the a/c compressor starts. I can cup my hand over a vent and feel that there is cold air there, its just that nothing blows out. Since the fuses are good, is my next step to install a new blower motor?
I realize this video is over 5 years old, but my car is 10 years old now (2013 Rogue) and I finally got around to installing the new blower. This video was very helpful in doing so. Important note to add: you absolutely should follow all the steps, including the removal of the metal support bracket - the pedal assembly will absolutely not come out with the bracket still in place. Don't be like me and try to cut corners, you end up spending more time like I did. edit: another note to add, be sure to have the right tools beforehand.. especially the swivel joints and the T-20 torx. Thank you very much for this video 1A Auto!
Thank you!!!! You saved me 1200.00. My problem is solved. Took two hours of my time, but now I have heat again for this winter, and hopefully several more :)
Great video. Got the blower out, tested it, replaced it. Now my Rogue can blow heat for the cold winter. This is the 4th vehicle and over a dozen jobs you've helped me with. Thank you for your detailed and dedicated videos!
I spent two years of my life listening to a whining screech whenever I drove before realizing what it was. This video was everything for replacing it. Thank you!
I just watched your video twice then replaced the struggling blower in my 2013 Rogue S. Everything went as you described, but it took me a long time fussing with that hard-to-reach top nut on the bracket before I realized that I could take off the steering column bottom cover and get slightly better access above the bracket. That only involved removing 3 screws and I wish I had thought of it earlier (or just thought ahead and bought a swivel adapter for my socket). The new blower runs much quieter and faster than the worn-out original I replaced. That hour I spent saved me hundreds of dollars!
Removing the lower half of the steering column was the ONLY way I could get access to the top nut of the last metal bracket in the way. Like William said - 3 screws. This needs to be pinned to save other DIYers the aggravation.
This is a great video! The only thing I would add is that I removed the driver's seat before I started on my 2011. For the sake of 4 torx bolts, it was well worth the extra 10 minutes!
Really, great video! As an automotive apprentice when I get stuck, sometimes I look to videos like this for guidance and support. Well done with the camera angles and everything. As a critique I would say going more in depth on the connecter tabs would especially be great for people who don’t work on cars much.
Thank you for this!! I was quoted $1050 for this at my local Firestone and was like yeah no thanks! Bought the blower motor assembly and resistor for $99 and just finished this in under 4 hours. Had to run and buy a 13mm deep socket. I changed in on my Nissan Versa note 2015. Had some trouble removing the pedal assembly Because of the steering column but eventually took it out. I recommend wearing some work gloves throughout this because I have plenty of cuts all over but this was definitely worth my time to save money! Thanks for the help!!
I really like the fact that you show how hard some of these part replacements really are instead of acting like everything runs smoothly. You did a great video on a Toyota 4Runner blower motor (I have a 2008) and it was much easier to replace than on this Nissan Rogue.
Just completed this task. Really would not have been successful without this video. 2.5 hours including a trip to local hardware to get 1/4 inch universal and 13mm deep well. (Which I thought I had both😳) Longest delay was trying to figure out how to disconnect the wiring harnesses. Just not that familiar with all the styles and they were hard to see the latches. I took time to wipe out grim from the blower housing. Blowing cold air again and air smells like new car! Thanks again. Best video on the subject I could find. Exceptional camera work and commentary.
Thank you. AWESOME video. Very well explained. Only major problem I had was getting the new blower motor back in place. I ended up removing the black plastic heater vent flap control. It is held in by 2 phillips head screw and a connector. Went in fairly easy after that. Took me about 4 hours. And that includes a 45 minute break to relax after not being able to get the new one back in. Thanks again.
That is true on anything but after the late 80's. The more technology advances, the harder it is to work on. It's also a way to try and force you to return to the dealer for service.
Just completed this job. I would have been lost without your video. It definitely was a mental battle on this one. Thank you for your clarity and guidance. With not having any knowledge of how to do this I completed it in 3 hours. . Again thank you so much, I have cold air again.

Excellent video! Great job with the lighting, the camera shots, the angle. Everything was done so clearly. Honestly, the best video to watch, when it comes to a DIY for a Nissan blower motor. I have to agree with everyone that this was the worst possible place to install the blower motor, and I remember seeing a list of the 5 most common problems with the first generation Nissan Rogue - and the very first one in the list was the blower motor! I have a 2011 Rogue in which the fan stopped working. I wasn't sure whether it was the motor or the resistor - but one clue (i think) was that if I banged on the side, or the top of the dash, I could get the fan to start working (until that trick stopped working!). I had read that this symptom was the blower motor. I followed the instructions in the video, and after several hours of contorting and cursing, I got the blower motor removed, and then replaced. One other person had commented that pushing at the white plastic, near the screw of the blower motor, helps in removing it. I have to agree. I could not do it by just rotating the blower motor anti-clockwise as shown in the video. Also, to pull out the blower motor, past all the protrusions, for me at least, was not possible, without removing a black box (that controls some vents) that was held by TWO screws. You have to be careful though, as this black thingy connects with several plastic parts that mate with various "channels". You will have to make sure that they all line up properly, and move freely, when re-installed. Thanks for a great video!
Hopefully my neighbors didn’t come outside and hear me while I was working on this. However, you did a great job explaining the process and saved me a lot of money.
You sir are a hero of the people. Saved my behind from this heat. Last thing a person wants is to get inside a hot car after working outside in the sun all day.
Thank you so much for taking the time to do this video and sharing with us. It saved me from having to take my car to a mechanic and pay more money than i could afford. plus, you made this so easy to understand. I was so proud of myself for being able to do this. I probably would have taken it to a mechanic if i had not watched this first. Totally appreciate the time and effort you put into this.

Best how to do it yourself video ever. I was too scared to do it even after watching this awesome video. Thanks for saving me and many others hundreds of dollars. Very well made, I watched it and then did exactly what you did. Got the A/C to work, it took me 4 hrs Allright.....but got it to work.
The blower motor just went out in my wifes 2011 rogue i was afraid i was going to have to pay a shop to replace it but after watching this im confident i can do it myself. Thank you so much!!
I fixed my wife's Rogue that did indeed end up being a bad blower motor though I was leaning towards a bad resister (easier replacement) If it wasn't for your video it would of taken me ALL day to fix it instead it took 2 hours to replace the blower motor. Thank you & great video!
Don't think I be trying this one on my car but, I still enjoy yr video's. They help me understand what needs to be done if and when I take it to the mechanic. Thanks.
You sir saved, my life! Literally the night before we take my son to College (4 hours away) in hot a$$ Georgia the blower fails. Ran to the parts store at 8am and was done in about 2 hours.

Thanks a tonne for this awesome video!! I changed the blower motor and resistor on my 2013 Nissan Rogue. Oh man, it took me about 4 hours to finish it. Thanks again!!
Absolutely awesome video. I could not have completed the task without it. I might have missed something but i had to take that bracket on the right hand side out in order to get the pedal assembly back in. Then put the bracket in.

I did my wifes car today and I watched another video on how to do this and I didn't take off near as many parts as you did and I got my done in 52 minutes... I think you did it the right way just took a different route... nice video though thanks
OMG! You had to practically take the whole front of the vehicle apart! At least when I take my Rogue in to get the blower motor fixed, I’ll understand the high labor charges. Thanks!
Great video. Saved me a couple hundred and having to wait three days to get it fixed. If it wasn't an emergency I would of bought the part from these guys.
Thank you. Your video was a great help in changing out blower motor. Could you please post a video of step by step instructions on how to do it without cursing like a sailor , I don't know how you did it but I cussed a lot lol 🤣
Thanks for doing this. I bought a combo Rogue 2010 fan and the resistor and everything went according to plan except for the floor heater vent refusing to pop off. I just worked around it in the end. Expect to feel like you've been in 13 round boxing match when it's done. These angles are not fun to work in. But we now have a quiet and dependable fan that will be used often this winter. You saved me appx $900. :)
Thank you for this video. I have had just about every major part changed on my 2011 Nissan Rogue. Have to say this car is a money pit. I'm finally checking to see if others are having these same issues and looking at some of the repairs to see what it entails to fix the issues. Well I see why things can get expensive to replace. Unfortunately for Nissan I will no longer be a customer as the parts and constant repair and maintenance are beyond normal. Transmission, drive shaft, axles, airbag spinal cord, many boots , door locks, rear door lock, blower for heater,etc.. bought this car in 2014 w 65,000 now at 127,000 thank heaven people are educating others on how to avoid some of the expense.
Great video, I was able to replace in 3 hours, as another person said that bracket definatlu has to come out. Also had some difficulty getting a good grip to turn out the old blower. Other than that pretty easy to follow. Thank you for the video!

Me too. That thing will not turn. Took my 2 foot + screwdriver/prybar and grabbed the big tab downstream of the screw hole, wedged bar against the steering linkage and POW! Blasted that SOB tab right off. It wraps around the housing and grips like hell. Thing came right out after that. It was junk, so no harm, no foul.
Great video, the shots up inside are very helpful. That top right 10mm nut looked impossible to get back on but a combination of your trick of tape around the swivel joint and a bit of blue tack on the nut to hold it to the socket got it first try! I did this the hard way first time (according to the service manual, taking the instrument cluster off etc.) and this is much faster and no harder.
This was a great video!! Very detailed and accurate. My only suggestion would be give tips to help those who may be having a difficult time with a specific step. Anyways, following this video, it took me about two hours. Maybe about 90min if you take away all my breaks and back and forth for tools lol. On another note, I replaced the blower motor and the blower motor resistor and I’m still not getting air flow. My heat is hot and my air is cold. I can feel them at the vent when I turn on those settings I just don’t get air flow (this was before I replaced the parts). Aside from the relay, what else could my issue be?
OMG... Thank you for this video! Saved me tons of time and shop costs... Only thing that sucks is the brake connector gets in the way of the removal and install... Was afraid I was going to break some of the blades... Just have to push past it. Other than that, it was a simple, but long process. Two plus hour job... Glad I had something to compare to!

Thanks for the video it definitely helped. Only took me one hour and ten mins but definitely needed the swivel for the top bolt of the bar that’s a pain. I went up next to the steering column through a gap on the plastic to get at it. Also have a magnetic light it’s almost impossible to see that top nut standing on your head.13mm deep socket luckily I had. And having an impact for all the bolts helped. Extensions and an 8mm ratcheting box wrench for that fan bolt. Can’t get that good of a view of it so you can feel it with that type of wrench. Thanks again
Your video is very simple and clear to follow. It encourages me to do it my self and I did it without any problem. It took me 1:30 min. Thank you very much!!!

Took me 1 week just to get to the motor. I’m a big dude 300 plus leaning on my belly wasn’t comfortable I had to take out the drivers seat to have more room. You need a lot of patience and some music to keep you going
Excellent video. After completing the job (thank you) i will say that removing all the framing is absolutely necessary. Not sure how you can remove the fan without that cross bar frame removed
Just did this on daughter in law car. Took me 5 hours. I’m 68 and not as limber as I once was. Video help but if you think your ever going to see the old blower until it comes out, you can forget it. Has to be done all by feel unless your head is the size of a camera and on a swivel.
I appreciate any answers from anyone who had to do this!! At about 11:50 where he is fighting to get the old blower out, I can confirm that is exactly how it was when I did it. And that clicking noise around 11:52 he is having to force the fan past this little wire connection where it has a strain relief. I had to do the exact same thing and was terrified I was going to tear that wiring harness up. It's just a tiny connector, but that was the only way I could get the old fan out was to flex the fins on the squirrel cage against that connection and stress relief for it.
Hey buddy! Just replaced my blower, thanks to your instructional, but there's one thing I'd like to add. The clip above the screw, has a lil tab, that a flat head screwdriver helps outta the way. I'm no weakling, but I had to call for outside assistance from a carpenter buddy that has ham-hands to twist that bastard outta place. My lil Irish fingers are better tuned for fine work. I'll give you credit tho, Mechanic-Hulk. You've got a helluva grip.
You shouldn't have to dissemble your car to replace a part that has a limited lifespan such as bulbs, brake pads, and freaking blower motors. Thanks for a clear and concise method to tackle what could be a nightmare.
Really nice video! The guy on it makes it look easy; for me it wasn't. I ended up removing the driver seat to be able to position myself in order to get to it,
This video has helped immensely! I need help identifying a replacement bolt to hold the blower motor in, it seems that mine is missing for some reason. Any recommendations because I can't find it anywhere online?
The bracket at 4:35... I tried leaving it in, you can't. It does have to come out. In the video it said "you may not have to pull this bracket out". You do, and it makes things a lot easier if you do. I fought around it, wish I would have taken it out from the start. Thank you for the extremely helpful video!!
Did this...some feedback. First, thanks for putting this vid up. Second, this job sucks, there is no room to work... Couple points from me: 1) I have a 2008 Rogue. That plastic heater diverter does not come out like this video. There is a screw holding it on, must be behind the radio. I yanked on it til it broke. Maybe they redesigned it between 2008 and 2009 models. 2) rotating the fan out is tricky. Best thing is to reach up with your left hand while facing the passenger seat, and you can get it. 3) Buy a new cabin filter and replace it as long as you are in there.
i came here cause i was looking for a fuel pump relay for my 2012 rogue , no one can help locate this bad boy ? i was at the dealer and looking with the parts guy at all diagrams and did not show us anything on a pump relay ? go figure ? one tech came out and said you have to buy the WHOLE elect box ? i said that still does not tell me where it is ? so he did not know either ? you did a good job on this motor , i am HVAC cert myself retired ,,,,one thing i wont do is to buy a motor not from the dealer because of very good chance it will draw more amps than the original ? maybe yours wont but they told us that in school ! just saying ,,,,,,by the way even just changing a simple cabin air filter for the ac on this car is a pain in the big A ,,,,you have to bend it so it goes in ,,,,,,yagzzzzz ,,,,,,you g ave me an idea ,,,,,remove the pedals maybe next time ? ,,,,,thanks
European Nissan X-trail(rouge) some diffrent brackets but the rest was the same, thanks this would not be possibe without your video. NOW I HAVE AIR AGAIN.
Your video was very informative. I will say. The bracket that holds the knee kicker in place under the steering wheel. It must come off or you will have a hard time getting the brake throttle assembly out.
Really disappointed at Nissan. I was a huge fan of Nissan due to the ease of fixing. But I think I am not anymore. It was a true pain to change the blower. The video helped a lot, without this video, it was impossible for me.
Thanks for the video! Helpful is beyond words. I do have a slight problem though. Everything is reinstalled but pressing the gas pedal does nothing now. Any ssuggestions??
You don't have to disconnect the plastic cover or the trunk /diagnostic cable, you can just move the whole thing aside, you're making more work for yourself..
THANK YOU! I just changed mines along with the air cabin filter and the blower transistor. It took me way longer than 24mins, more like 2-3 hours😁😁😁 nevertheless great video. Thank you again. P.s. my check engine light came on. Any reason why?
+donley23 We wouldn't be able to diagnose an issue like that here, you may want to have a local mechanic take a look at it. Thanks for checking us out! 1aau.to/m/Shop-1AAuto-c
My service engine soon light came on as well. I think i will disconnect the battery for a few minutes then reconnect and see what happens. I did not disconnect the battery to do the repair
Once you were finished and turned the fan back on, that's the sound I'm getting on my wife's car. The fan is working fine but it sounds just like that one you did here, like something is stuck in the squirrel cage hitting something. Any idea what that sound is? Maybe something got sucked up in from the passenger side floor board, I don't know.

He said that bracket didn't have to come out in order for the brake/gas pedal assembly to come out but trust me it does‼️
Who ever designed these types of Nissan certainly did not want the average customer to work on their own cars
So I was thinking the rogues in Japan are right hand drive so us in North America just get screwed
That's not just Nissan. Look at any modern vehicle. And have fun looking for basic maintenance things

+Roy Thomas Thanks for the feedback!
Hopefully my neighbors didn’t come outside and hear me while I was working on this. However, you did a great job explaining the process and saved me a lot of money.

Thank you for the reassembly. I appreciate the extra time in video. Going out to the garage for a tool check and get to it. Most appreciated!

@@1AAuto I have the noise in my car but ac was working all day but now only hot air am feeling in the car
Thanks to your video I saved $500. Very clear instructions, keep doing this kind of videos.

The bracket definitely needs to be removed. MUCH MUCH easier getting the blower motor out and back in....
GREAT VIDEO
Just started and finished this up today in my 2011 Rogue. Directions were right on.

CLS CLS what was the other video that you used?

Just did it without a swivel socket. Lol
I recommend to have swivel socket and extension to make it easier. Great tutorial! 🙏👍
Honestly! That is the greatest video to watch if you were going to replace the blower motor…
Perfect job! Thanks for sharing
I used this video as a guideline for replacing the blower for my NISSAN X-TRAIL (T31) 2.0 dCi 2008 150Hk. This video prooved very helpful.

Hey man how long did it take u?
Can't thank you enough for this video. Never could have done it without it. Thank you so much.
Thanks for the detailed step-by-step video! This video made this repair significantly less frustrating than it would have otherwise been.
+Cody Schlicker Thank you for the great reply. We love to empower our customers by showing you how-to perform your own auto repairs while installing our high quality auto parts. Have a great day! 1aauto.com
Cody Schlicker how did you finally get the motor to release from the housing? Mine will NOT come out, been trying for over a day
@@1AAuto is this also the same for a sl rouge
I just twisted it with 1 hand...came right out
This by far is the best tutorial , I've seen , gives me more confidence to tackle this job. Thank you, should almost be the same for a 13 versa

Soooooo thankful for this video, great job! Not an easy swap out and only made it because of this video! THANK YOU!!!
Finished on my fiancé’s car in about 90 mins, hardest part was the wire clip on the damn blower itself 😂 thanks guys
Thank you for the tutorial! Saved me hundreds in labor. Next time I need auto parts I'll check you out!

Thank you very much. I just completed the job and it take me less than 1h.
Just did this on daughter in law car. Took me 5 hours. I’m 68 and not as limber as I once was. Video help but if you think your ever going to see the old blower until it comes out, you can forget it. Has to be done all by feel unless your head is the size of a camera and on a swivel.
Just did my daughter 09 Rogue . Your video was right on the money perfect step by step saved lot of money doing it myself . Thanks
+gtogus712 Thank you for your feedback!
Excellent work guys, I used the video to help me change the blower motor in my wife's 2012 Nissan rogue. Thanks again!!!
I appreciate any answers from anyone who had to do this!!
Thank you! I just finished replacing ours in a 2012 nissan sentra, i followed your instructions in this video and it helped me alot.
+Gamer guilder Thank you! We are happy we could help!
Thank you so much for this video! Was able to do it myself without ever changing a blower motor before.
+William Grantham Thanks for the feedback!
+Kenneth Brune Thanks for the feedback! We suggest contacting your local mechanic to determine which bolt you need for your vehicle.
Couple points from me:
1) I have a 2008 Rogue.
Yes. The cabin air filter not being replaced is what burns these motors out so soon.
Good call on the cabin filter
Excellent tutorial, I do it myself, your are the best guys

i came here cause i was looking for a fuel pump relay for my 2012 rogue , no one can help locate this bad boy ? i was at the dealer and looking with the parts guy at all diagrams and did not show us anything on a pump relay ? go figure ? one tech came out and said you have to buy the WHOLE elect box ? i said that still does not tell me where it is ? so he did not know either ? you did a good job on this motor , i am HVAC cert myself retired ,,,,one thing i wont do is to buy a motor not from the dealer because of very good chance it will draw more amps than the original ? maybe yours wont but they told us that in school ! just saying ,,,,,,by the way even just changing a simple cabin air filter for the ac on this car is a pain in the big A ,,,,you have to bend it so it goes in ,,,,,,yagzzzzz ,,,,,,you g ave me an idea ,,,,,remove the pedals maybe next time ? ,,,,,thanks
nice ,,,,i just seen a video on a 2014 blower motor and he did it from the passenger side which seems easier ? thank you
I would say two thumbs up but I lost one doing this installation. Saved money though thank you . 👍🏽

This video did help immensely and I will subscribe to you guys. To view the tutorial for the next damn Nissan part that breaks.

Thank you so much for this video, I absolutely couldn't have replaced mine without it. If only I could have done it in anywhere close to 21 minutes.
+Shaggy Lewis Thank you for your positive feedback!
hahahaha. You missed all the film on the editing room floor, where he gets drunk and cusses.
Thanks for the video! Helpful is beyond words. I do have a slight problem though. Everything is reinstalled but pressing the gas pedal does nothing now. Any ssuggestions??
I was quoted an hours labour for this....
Thanks for posting!
Not looking forward to this job at all but thanx for all the details. Kinda gave me anxiety though. $500 kinda seems fair after seeing all the steps.

Amazing JOB filming these tight shots! Kudos!
You don't have to disconnect the plastic cover or the trunk /diagnostic cable, you can just move the whole thing aside, you're making more work for yourself..
Thanks for the video it helped out a lot! My check engine light came on due to the sensors can you help me on that?
Just turn off the engine. Light will go off.
Is the 2nd gen rogue accessed from other side footwell? For blower replacement?
Great guide but getting the fan off by hand not so easy, had to use an oil filter remover with a small extension and ratchet. Took it off no problem!
