Great reaction, that last half of the song that transitions to the darker side always gives me chills. Also, the beginning of Stan he says he was trying to get a Em to sign a starter cap for his brother, so that is the tie-in. Also ties into the MGK diss "Killshot" where he calls MGK a stan and says he has an autograph for his daughter and he wrote it on a starter cap.
This is definitely one of the best reaction videos I've seen on Eminem hands down!!! I feel like you're starting to see why Stans are so loyal and defend Eminem ferociously. Because we've all known this about Eminem, we all know how lyrically insane he is, we all know how great of a storyteller he is, and above all how humble he is as a person and gives credit to other artists as far as being top five. And it's like you say all the time, people who hate on Eminem and say he's not dope clearly have not took the time and effort to go through his catalog and listen. It's a shame but I'm happy to see you go through his catalog and in your own way start to become a Stan 😂. Not a Stan as in being obsessive but truly appreciating the artist, the art form and the pure genius that is Eminem.
@@Bizeecentral depends on how you interpret the word stan. Em has said that he was a Stan to LL and Redman so does that mean he was obsessive or overzealous and a stalker? I would think not. He's just stating that he's a huge fan but using the word stan in place of that...
@@FreakishlyUNeek prob was obsessive to make being a stan to him true in a way.I see stan as being the type of person em portrayed in the music video. if you just really like him and his music and what he does, big fan. if you take it too far and start immortalizing him, might be crossing into stan territory
@@FreakishlyUNeek True, i just wouldn't define it as anything the video didn't portray, Stan tends to have a negative connotation to it, not a compliment. Could make it that way but thats what haters do all the time im seeing, using the term stan loosely and not keeping it to the definition. If your not over obsessive and taking fandom too far, i wouldn't call someone a stan. I take back the immortalizing thing as my definition of stan. Its anyone whos obsessive, takes fandom too far, and gets emotionally defensive and violent over him, virtually or in person. Immortalizing someone is something we do to anyone we are a fan of when they are our favorite so i'd classify that as a step above a big fan but not a stan, being your favorite xD
Shout out to everyone who loves watching his reaction slowly unfold and realize who the song is about. Watching reactions like this is as entertaining as just listening to the song itself
“Bad Guy” is a sequel to Eminem’s song “Stan”, which was released as a single from The Marshall Mathers LP. “Stan” is about a crazed fan who kills himself, his girlfriend and their unborn child because of the “lack of attention” Eminem paid to him as a fan. Bad Guy is about Stan’s little brother, Matthew, who loved his brother more than anything. Matthew Mitchell is all grown-up now, and is seeking revenge for Stan’s death.
I listened to this the night it hit youtube. Like i was literally sitting at my laptop playing my Playstation waiting and soon as it hit i paused what i was playing and i wont lie shit made me cry because it came full circle once i realized its stans brother and that last verse....jesus fucking christ. I feel like this song was the official end of eminems career as far as proving he is without a doubt one of the greatest rappers to walk this earth. Because after this song he is free to bask in his legend
Nobody breaks down songs like you. Other reviewers laugh, get wide eyed, stand up and make a ruckus but never break down the bars. No hate or disrespect intended here, just facts
Hell yea. He breaks them bars down, stops, thinks about his own breakdown and actually comes away with the meaning and picks those doubles triples and few quadruples. Doc RIch, ScriptWork and No Life Shaq have some of the best reviews. Haven't seen much lately from LawTwinz, but check them all out, they all have their twists, and a lot of the reactions go hand in hand, some miss a bar or two, but the other picks it up. Pretty dope to watch 2 or 3 in a row.
Shaq was good with 100-300k followers, but then he started buying cars, made his intro like a gospel singer and I think his money and fortune....he’s a great guy and paved the road. However the youtubers post Shaq’s extreme success. It happens to a lot of people, but NolifeShaq was much better before 500k followers. He earned it.... but some of his routine is very predictable. I’ve switched to Stevie.
“Chauvinist pig, drove in this big Lincoln town car” is reference to an old track called “Desperados” with bugz and Proof, fire track. Great reaction Stevie, was bouncin round with you on that last verse!
Plus Frank Ocean's song "Swim Good" (about dying by driving a car into the ocean) starts with "That's a pretty big trunk on my Lincoln town car, ain't it?"
Eminem is the goat 🐐🐐 no two ways about it his catalog is insane and his hit rate is unmatched and no two songs sound the same 20 years of nothing but greatness 🔥🐐

Eminem actually had a home invasion earlier this year - from a guy called Matthew. Look up the story and notice his age - do the maths from when Stan was released... "That's my little brother man, he's only 6 years old..." Crazy real life coincidence.
Man it's so good to see someone who's a real hip hop head that can truly appreciate the genius of (almost all) Eminem's songs! The best part is that Stevie said he doesn't even listen to Em, but he still acknowledge the fact that Em is the GOAT..!
Dude took his time with this reaction. And it’s exactly what the song needed. Awesome to see someone who knows their shit go through this song for the first time
Did anyone mention the intruder in EM's house earlier this year named Matthew, that actually would have been the exact age of Matthew Mitchell in this song. Crazy stuff
He’s been saying prophet type stuff always. Godzilla video came out before the lockdown, but the store he’s in has empty shelves. Also, the Toy Soldiers video before Proof died.
I seen Eminem in 2014 and he opened with this when the beat switches up - Chills. When he says '9 hours and 45 minutes ' That was his discography up until that exact moment. When he's rapping towards the end and you can hear a devils voice thats also Eminem rapping in that voice onto of his flow. Insane song
I had to sub Stevie knight. I’m reliving Myself becoming a huge fan through Stevie. I remember realizing for the first time how good of a story teller em is or the depth of the bars. The details like 9hr 45 min Whilst trying to get through the cadence and flows, etc, etc. it’s fun watching Stevie react to it and remember feeling similar when I heard songs for the first time. Kinda wish Stevie would go back to the start and work his way though the entire thing cuz you can clearly see how em evolves thru the years. Keep up the good work homie!
God that last verse i think will always be my favorite Em verse of all time that message is so powerful when he explain what Stan and his little brother stand for creating a huge overarching message not only for this song but as well as Stan. God this song is a masterpiece
Best reaction video period....the honesty...the breakdown of the bars...the appreciation and everything...watching this reminded me of the night i first heard this song and got totally obsessed instantly!!!!

New Eminem fans : what the fck is this song about man....till its finally revealed..:) @steveknight man...its so much fun..to listen to you break down eminem old songs..like no other reaction videos...Eminem is the only artist i ever followed almost for 20 yrs now...from India..
Was anyone else getting frustrated of him not knowing it was Stan's little brother but finally got relieved when he figured it out lol great reaction nonetheless bro and the broncos hat is the starter cap Eminem signed and sent to Stan
This song is honestly the culmination of every aspect of rap being mastered in one song. A masterpiece and honestly one of the best songs ever written period imo.
Fun Eminem fact: when Stans little brother Matthew (the song is in his perspective. In Stan Eminem says “but you could have signed an autograph for Matthew, that’s my little brother”) he says he’s driven for 9 hours and 45 min. That was the full time of all Eminem albums until that song on MMLP2) Stan was on mmlp. Bad guy mmlp2 “Eminem killed by M&M, Matthew Mitchell” I can’t remember the exact bar but he mentions the starter cap Eminem mentioned on Stan. He also says “new plan, Stan” I’m only half way through your reaction so I don’t know if you realize but I always thought the 9hrs and 45 min bar was dope. Only Eminem adds that shit up to be accurate 😂😂
I thoroughly enjoyed watching his gears working. Stevie Knight is a smart dude. For someone who isn't a fan and knows the catalog and times lines like the back of their hand, he came pretty close pretty fast.
@@elemaire86 Yea and Em only drops little hints here and there that it's Stan's little brother talking until the verse where he's got Em in the trunk. If you're going into the song completely blind, it'd be hard to realize who was rapping before the point where Stevie figured it out.

@@robert_5974 every reference em makes on the MMLP2 is from the perspective that 13 years have passed. On Criminal on MMLP1 he says on the last verse "die bitches, bastards, brats, pets. This puppy's lucky I didn't blast his ass yet" Then on Parking Lot (Skit) on MMLP2 it takes place right after criminal finishes when he shoots the teller he's robbing, then when running away you can hear a full grown dog barking at em, at which point em shoots the dog. This is my number one favorite song to see people impacted by - why we're here for reactions: to see the effect music has on people - and I think I requested you react to this like a year ago...7k (ish) cuz I've been rockin since then. I haven't seen other reactors appreciating this song they always compare it with "stan" But Stevie enjoying it from the beginning to the end and appreciating on how much Eminem has put his pen to work . Respect man I was smiling throughout this video and especially the last 2 minutes of the song it's just amazing Thanks for the reaction man I'm waiting for the "not afraid" reaction video I hope to see it soon
Imagine waiting for this album to release and keeping away from all the promotions/talk about it. Obviously naming the album as a sequel, one would assume it would have references. But having this be the first track. That was an experience, glad it happened to me!
with Em you can have about 20 different top 5 lists, top 5 flows, top 5 stories, top 5 features, top 5 disses, top 5 talk yo shit, top 5 Haillie songs, top 5 fast songs... you can have a Top 5 list of his top 5 lists.
Greatest Part about all of this is that this song came out 13 years after the song "Stan" ...& then 7 years after "Bad Guy" the song actually came true.. A guy named Matthew who's the same age as Matthew Mitchell the character (26) actually broke into Eminem house just to meet him..Eminem had to take him down himself & hold him until police arrived. Mind blowing
You are a true fan of hip hop man. I love that you appreciate the art. A lot of so called hip hop fans would call this track garbage. And they have. This shit gives me goosebumps. Much love man! Keep doing what you doing.
He's talking about his regrets and all the stuff that's gonna come back on him. He knows karma is a bitch. Creativity has never been used so good in all of music. Eminem is a tortured genius literally. Artist of the millienium of any genre. Nobody can do this they wouldn't know where to start. Just unbelievable. Em you are everything.
I’ve heard this song like a million times and never picked up on the nitwit (knit) part. Like, I knew the whole sewing scheme but that last part. Amazing.
I have waited so long to hear and see you react to this song! It is in my top 5 maybe top 3, it is insane that one man can be this talented. The one thing I have always loved and respected about Eminem is his ability to be such a great story teller. You can close you eyes and just listen and see everything that is happening. Story tellers like Em are so few and far between. Much love to you and how well you break down songs, watching you is almost like hearing them for the first time for me. Can't wait to see what you react to next!
I know Stevie has been going on this Eminem Journey. But I wonder how many subs are also new to the Eminem journey? A lot of us here have already been Stans (in a good way) but are any of you starting to realize the greatness?
That would be me. Wu tang, tribe, beasties and p.e. was my go to in the 80s/90s. Always liked ems songs but was never really a fan. When Godzilla had people losing their minds i started watching the reactions from no life shaq and in the clutch which lead me to Stevie. And fuck me, my eyes are now open.
I always thought he was good with the bars I did catch and understand but now having more knowledge myself of the culture and watching Stevie go back to a lot of older stuff and his knowledge and breakdowns has made me really really appreciate how insanely talented he is, especially all the wordplay double entendres and triples, I’m a sucker for those and missed so many so this journey is the best thing in lockdown. Stevie kills it
I've been a fan for a long time, but had never deep-dived into his last several albums. I have more appreciation for his lyrical genius now than ever. He is still on top imo.
Been waiting FOREVER!!!! I wanted to see that face when that last verse started. Undeniably one of the sickest moments in music. The dramatic buildup in the music, the cadence, and the brutal self honest reflection. I get tingles EVERY time I hear this. Everything stops and I zone completely in. Not a Stan as in being obsessive but truly appreciating the artist, the art form and the pure genius that is Eminem.
being a stan and a big fan is different things. xD
@@Bizeecentral like I said it's all on how you interpret "Stan"
THIS IS THE GREATEST SONG EMINEM HAS EVER WRITTEN. No arguments.
One of.. He did similar with the devil inside of him w all the drugs in my darling
And darkness pure Shakespeare
@@emyf9197 my darling so underrated
It's Stan's little brother, he was also in the music video.
I'm glad I read the comments. I was literally about to explain it just like this.
& also this year a matthew broke into em's house. 😳
it also plays into him talking to his subconscious which is slim shady. it goes back and forth.
This song is one of those songs goes over most people’s heads. I’ve seen so many reactors that have no idea what’s going on. In Stevie, we trust.
Eminem is the only one who can diss himself in his own song from others perspective. Love this man.❤️
Great reaction! This is probably one of the best underrated storytelling songs ever made. My opinion.
Its such an underrated song, I'm really glad you heard it...And heard it!!!
That beat drop into the last verse sends chills up your spine! Amazing sequel to Stan
Nobody breaks down songs like you. Other reviewers laugh, get wide eyed, stand up and make a ruckus but never break down the bars. No hate or disrespect intended here, just facts
Check out third earnest, scriptwork and knoxhill and unbashedly reggie. Including stevie they're amazing at breaking down
Doc Rich and ScriptWork are great too
Facts other reactors are really corny in comparison it's why I fucks with stevie
No matter how many times I hear this track..I always get goosebumps on that 4th verse..
I absolutely loved watching Stevie slowly figure out who the song was about
who else was frustrated but laughing when Stevie was getting closer to figuring out who it was? Stevie cracks me up!
The last verse gives me chills every time and I've been listening to the daily since it was dropped 🤯😍

You have been listening to it for 7 years???? Miss me with that BS
@@Max-xl5kx it's the first song on my playlist it's on every time I get in my car. Sorry I offended you man you maybe need a break from the internet 🤦🏼♂️
@@redbeard3780 surely you must have been bored by now
Chills yup
Eminem actually had a home invasion earlier this year - from a guy called Matthew. Look up the story and notice his age - do the maths from when Stan was released...
"That's my little brother man, he's only 6 years old..."
Crazy real life coincidence.
Crazy stuff
WHHHAATTTTTT
Yes. Rumor has it stan was a true story and bad guy almost was
He’s been saying prophet type stuff always. Godzilla video came out before the lockdown, but the store he’s in has empty shelves. Also, the Toy Soldiers video before Proof died.
@@kaziah5257 I thought he made Toy Soliders because Proof died...you sure it came out before?
David Quilen Proof is IN the video.
With Stevie's reaction amping it up, the last verse had me fucking crying today, although I've heard this before. Crazy. Thank you Stevie! Love you
Likeee this is the 4th time I am coming to watch Stevie react to this particular song
I’m glad you just enjoyed the last part of the song. That shit is so fire 🔥
Insane song
Awww damn. I was really hoping to see a “Stan” and “Bad Guy” double feature.

Me too - listening back-to-back might be dangerous though, cuz the genius could make your brain melt. Maybe that's why they don't do it lol
I've never seen Stevie react like that during a chorus lmao
He just had to let it ride out in the end to get the full effect! Glad he did!
I remember him vibing like that in an NF song guess it was “Destiny”
@@tbotec7516 This is how you know he's genuine. He won't dance to a chorus he really doesn't like much.
Lastname Firstname yup
He kinda reacted that way on ‘Lock it up’ ft Anderson Paak although idk if he “grooved” as much as he did with this one lol
I really wasn’t expecting him to like the chorus haha that’s awesome
wht u saying man this chorus is just whole another vibe
God that last verse i think will always be my favorite Em verse of all time that message is so powerful when he explain what Stan and his little brother stand for creating a huge overarching message not only for this song but as well as Stan. God this song is a masterpiece
Best reaction video period....the honesty...the breakdown of the bars...the appreciation and everything...watching this reminded me of the night i first heard this song and got totally obsessed instantly!!!!
This is like a sequel to stan. This one is about Matthew (Stanly’s little brother)
Like a sequel? It is literally a sequel lol
Azurex _ you’re right idk why I put “like a” 😭
Spazz_lmao I see comments like this and I’m just like “they ain’t even wait to see if he figured it out or not” lmao
Superslash yeah i didn’t finish watching you’re correct
Eminem fan who is been listening to stan since 2000...dude this is stans lil brother bro...
New Eminem fans : what the fck is this song about man....till its finally revealed..:) @steveknight man...its so much fun..to listen to you break down eminem old songs..like no other reaction videos...Eminem is the only artist i ever followed almost for 20 yrs now...from India..
21:45 YOU KNOW HE FEELIN IT !!!! HAD THE EXACT SAME REACTION MY FIRST TIME HAHAHAHAH That verse is incredible!
Was anyone else getting frustrated of him not knowing it was Stan's little brother but finally got relieved when he figured it out lol great reaction nonetheless bro and the broncos hat is the starter cap Eminem signed and sent to Stan
We need Friday Night Cypher 🔥🔥
He already did it few days ago
Im late to this vid sry
MMLP2 is one of the most underrated albums of all time
Stevie Knight after 15 of the lat 20 Eminem reactions: “That. That was top five.” 😂
That was the full time of all Eminem albums until that song on MMLP2)
Stan was on mmlp. Bad guy mmlp2
“Eminem killed by M&M, Matthew Mitchell”
I can’t remember the exact bar but he mentions the starter cap Eminem mentioned on Stan. He also says “new plan, Stan”
I’m only half way through your reaction so I don’t know if you realize but I always thought the 9hrs and 45 min bar was dope. Only Eminem adds that shit up to be accurate 😂😂
One of my favorite Em songs. This song is rich in text. He's so brilliant. The G.O.A.T.
Im yelling at the screen its stans younger brother!!! 😂😂😂
I thoroughly enjoyed watching his gears working. Stevie Knight is a smart dude. For someone who isn't a fan and knows the catalog and times lines like the back of their hand, he came pretty close pretty fast.
@@elemaire86 I agree I was just high ass hell and a lil drunk... 😂😂 I really injoyed it i 100 percent agree with u..
@@elemaire86 Yea and Em only drops little hints here and there that it's Stan's little brother talking until the verse where he's got Em in the trunk. If you're going into the song completely blind, it'd be hard to realize who was rapping before the point where Stevie figured it out.
The end of this song is one of Em’s greatest moments period!!!! Love how Stevie says it’s fire 5x before the best part even comes! Lmao!
Likkeee…. First time I watched it, I was like bruhhh just wait
This song reminds me why no one is on Em's level🔥🔥🔥
Almost a decade later and still get chills when I hear him reflecting on his career. Forever a legend. Forever a goat.
Dope reaction Stevie, "here's an autograph for your brother, i wrote it on a Starter cap". Thats the telltale line. Keep grinding
SKnight!! This is one of my favorite reactions from u!! Because this truly shows how much of a Genius Em is!! This is just a small example of "Story telling, Lyrics, Beats, Chorus, Entendres, etc...But why u have no choice but to listen to each & every word multiple times!!... He has SO MANY Different Lanes!!!
From MI, & a HUGE FAN since 50k'ish fallowers!! Mad love for EVERYTHING u do Brother!!
This came out like 13 years after Stan
Which makes Matthew 19...it's like real life time for fictional characters.
@@robert_5974 aye I didn't even think of that haha crazy story telling
@@robert_5974 every reference em makes on the MMLP2 is from the perspective that 13 years have passed. On Criminal on MMLP1 he says on the last verse "die bitches, bastards, brats, pets. This puppy's lucky I didn't blast his ass yet"
Then on Parking Lot (Skit) on MMLP2 it takes place right after criminal finishes when he shoots the teller he's robbing, then when running away you can hear a full grown dog barking at em, at which point em shoots the dog. (since it's not a puppy anymore)
To make a sequel to your best known album
And connect a story like that after 13 years
"Eminem killed by MnM
Matthew Mitchell bitch
I even had ur initials"
How can u not give credit to this artist!
I only wish Bad Guy had official video..
Would have got so much more recognition!
@@Josh-tr7jv That's the significance of the line "Maybe I needed to grow up a little first Well, looks like I hit a growth spurt."
"but i never recovered"(Eminem has an album called recovery) so fucking great LINE
End of Stan video little Matthew is at the grave
This is my number one favorite song to see people impacted by - why we're here for reactions: to see the effect music has on people - and I think I requested you react to this like a year ago...7k (ish) cuz I've been rockin since then. When I say this reaction was worth the wait... so glad you didn't pretend to understand or get discouraged when you didn't understand right away. Stay authentic. It's so relatable.
One of the greatest verse ever!
Goosebumps everytime I hear..
Yeah, pretty sure I'm not the only one who feels this way 💞
"When it's time to *walk* away, I'm every guilt *trip* The *baggage* you have, but as you gather up all your *possessions* If there's anything you have left *(lift?)* to say 'Less it makes an impact, then don't bother So 'fore you *rest your case* Better make sure you're *packing* a wallop"... GODDAMN
This whole reaction Im yelling "ITS HIS BROTHER MATHEW!!!" 🤣🤣🤣 you were so close the whole time. "It sounds like Stan, but Stan is dead 🤣🤣🤣 good reaction!!
The ending always gives me mad chills when he starts going in on that switch up.
Forget everything.. react to Friday night cypher by big Sean now!!!!!!! Em went battle rap mode
😅😅 I'm waiting too
Wasn’t my favorite cypher. No hate tho
I haven't seen other reactors appreciating this song they always compare it with "stan"
But Stevie enjoying it from the beginning to the end and appreciating on how much Eminem has put his pen to work .
Respect man I was smiling throughout this video and especially the last 2 minutes of the song it's just amazing
Thanks for the reaction man
I'm waiting for the "not afraid" reaction video I hope to see it soon
Imagine waiting for this album to release and keeping away from all the promotions/talk about it. Obviously naming the album as a sequel, one would assume it would have references.
But having this be the first track. That was an experience, glad it happened to me!
It has some references in it
The last part of this track....got to be one of the best verses ever. He speaking with the undertone.when the beat dropped again. Fuckung fire
The “Starter” cap from “Stan” is the Broncos hat
This song ALWAYS gives me chills.. that last verse is flawless.... the way he changes is voice, his cadence, his styles.... this song is a masterpiece
Well so far you got Campaign Speech and Bad Guy in your top 5 so far lol. You should give us your unofficial top 5 after Em week 2.0
Nah campaign was top 5 wildest. Bad guy is top 5 overall
Stevie Knight woooord. Good distinction

Thank you for finally doing this song. Nothing makes my day then seeing someone nod to acknowledge the greatness that is the last verse of this song
"Here's an autograph for your brother. I wrote it on this Starter cap"
Stevie kills it
That’s awesome! Thanks for the honest replies. I think that’s great.
I’ve been a Stan since go but I like watching people transition over time. His catalog is Shakespearean. Yes, I said that shiz.
I was honestly scared when that got released because it sounded like he was on the edge of pulling the plug. So glad you finally did this one tho
