- Talk about a masterpiece. Eminem came full circle with Stan and closed out this chapter perfectly. Yes I know I late to the party but this was awesome to finally hear. Eminem went vintage shady for us and vintage Marshall Mathers in the same song. That bridge out was insane.

It's a sequel to Stan, while also being about Em's anxiety about his career, while also being about trying to keep Shady bottled because he's matured past that and wants to be more conscious and serious in his writing because he knows his career is on a timer now. It's literally the rare "perfect" track for any artist. It's up there with Stan and a few others in terms of tracks that my grandchildren will hear one day and ask how it was to hear that when it was released.

The last verse got verse of the decade from 2009-2019. I’ve listened to this song countless amount of times since the album came out and the verse gives me chills every time. I cannot believe he’s able to do that. Absolutely mind blowing masterpiece.

I'm exactly one week older than Eminem. Never heard an entire song of his until two years ago. Always thought he was just a bunch of puerile fart jokes and casual misogyny.
Somehow I accidentally heard this song on RUclips. That last verse *blew my mind.* I realized there was so much more to him than I'd thought. So I dug into his discography and picked up a hip hop education from RUclips reactors and ultimately became an unlikely stan 😆
And this stuff he does with these personae here and elsewhere is amazing and deep and playful and vicious and satirical and serious as shit by turns, and that's a huge part of why I'm so excited for his upcoming album.
That song that started playing is one of my favorite Em songs. Legacy. It’s a story about him growing up. It’s incredible. Btw this came out in 2013

I love the "I'm the pill that's too jagged to swallow" bar. Like obviously it's a double meaning on his addiction and the idiom of a pill that's tough to swallow but the way it works together is great: no many how pills you swallow, you still can't swallow this one.

There's something different about this man, and the best dead or alive can't touch him, and whoever says different is just a hater, their favorite rapper couldn't compare, and I dare them to put their best against Eminem's shit like this. Right as he goes into that "outro" you hear the car crash over the bridge and hit the water, this coincides with the airy/wet/atmospheric change and feel of the production, it almost feels like you're going under with the car. Drowning as he starts to sink into the thoughts he's conveying and simultaneously it's like he's seeing his life flash before his eyes "im your time that's almost up that you haven't acknowledged" both in rap and because he's drowning in the car
I like how Eminem be making songs that go together like Stan with Bad Guy, 3AM with Framed, or Castle and Arose
One part that not many people seem to catch, but it’s where I realized this song was from Matthew’s perspective, is when he says that Eminem “seems to be doing just fine.” In Stan, Eminem’s response letter tells Stan, “I think you’ll be doing just fine.” He says it in the same tone as in Stan. He does that with a few lines. But, this song is a masterpiece in storytelling and really, really marked a change in Eminem. Chills.
