    I love this channel.. dedicated to talk on VR, XR, cause not many industry have this yet. It is great to hear first hand from people who is currently doing it now. So we follow the foot step and have better ground and equipments. Thanks again @Daniel Marqusee.

    U r too good at this! Love it!
    I too want to design in figma and bring over to Bezel. But I always struggle with unit of measurement.
    Which unit of measurement do you use when you are designing on 2 different softwares like figma and bezel? How can you be sure that the screen size you are selecting for Bezel is going to be the right size when see in AR VR?

      Sorry for the late reply. Meaning to make a video about this at some point.
      So basically I used a concept called DMMS. Basically I set my default distance at 1 Meter. Then convert every pixel to 1mm. So an 80px font would be 80mm. If i move the size further away I then multiply. So if I design my panel from 1 meter, and then move the panel 1 meter back. I would scale my my type by 2X. Meaning 80px or 80mm will then be 160px or 160mm.

      @@marqusee ooooo it looks like a tutorial on how you design using DMMs would be very helpful 😄

    Thanks so much Daniel!! I enjoy your tutorial videos. Anyway, what's your take on which software should one focuses on first when jumping ti the AR/VR field? Does bezel suffice or unity is still the go-to software?

    • @marqusee
      @marqusee  Год назад +3

      Well I'm biased because Im building Bezel. Buttttttttt. It matters what you want to do, where you want to get hired, and what you want to focus on!
      Unity is amazing for development and complex interactions. If you know how to code.
      Bezel is aimed for rapid prototyping and focused on Design.
      That said Bezel is very very very young. And our product is still evolving. And while its a bit rough around the edges I think over time it could replace Unity for designers.

    @daniel:
    How can I zoom in and out when viewing the prototype in mobile AR or HMDs?
    Mobile browser (Google Chrome AR mode): I tried moving my phone front and back. Is there an alternative?
    How do I fit a high-resolution Figma prototype into the golden circle area as per your tut?

      FYI, I am working on a master's project (dissertation) for which I am designing a banking application (simulating Internet banking operations such as account overview, fund transfer, etc, to test the change blindness among users).
      For this, I need to export and import a desktop frame size.
      I appreciate your valuable ideas, please.

      You cant zoom in AR. You could have a state that scales an object, but there is no relative scale based on a camera.

    Please man. Don't cheap out on the tutorials. UX Design as a practice never settles with just rasterized PNGs of Background colors or Text layer. We use the real Vector shapes or Text layer.
    I know you're doing this to save time recording and editing, but it wouldn't hurt in the next tutorial videos if you will really put on some more effort doing it in the most native way, most high-fidelity way in Bezel.
    The way I'm thinking this is the future of XR as a practice, will evolve from the laborious and intricate practice of UX Design and Design Systems principles that were born of the Mobile design revolution. So if you're investing real educational videos here on RUclips for this budding new artform practice, it will way better and FUTURE PROOF if you will adapt the same quality of practice and care for details of the UX Design tutorials.
    If you'll think hard enough of it more, your content is also foundational to the growth of this new artform. You're of the only one that does it here for XR Design, in a very user friendly, stackable way. So you have some kind of responsibility to match your videos in that same bar, then evolve it from there.
    Just a constructive feedback and something to think about. More power to you 🫡

      High fidelity in Bezel is a thoughy. XR at the moment relies on rastered graphics. Vector isn’t supported so it’s not relevant. Adding type may of been nice but it has a lot of draw backs at the moment in Bezel. At the moment of creating this video it was way more pragmatic to use rastered type from Figma than rastered type in Bezel.
      So what else would you of liked to see?

    • @ericbintner
      @ericbintner Год назад

      Prototyping, however, is often raster images and whatever gets the job done. I'd hope Bezel will be moving forward with integrating tools to better fit existing workflows and ecosystems, but truthfully this is the best spatial prototyping tool out there right now, so you gotta roll with the lo-fi prototypes.
