In as much as we condemn the criminals that killed our soldiers, we shouldn't encourage the wrong views of this retired uncivilised soldier. He shouldn't bring wrong emotions to this matter. People like him are the ones creating problems between the people and the soldiers. Meanwhile, Nigerians should understand that these soldiers have families and they are working hard to protect everyone. My prayers are with their families and friends.

    Some things are wrong here.
First, why didn't Ifeayin Okowa brief the present governor on how to maintain peace in the communities in Delta state? I ask because Ifeayin was able to maintain peace during his tenure and is barely one year after Ifeayin left when this crisis started.
Second, it doesn't look like the military informed the police or tried to get some pieces of information from the police in that area before going for peace keeping. The police usually have first hand information because they are closer to the locals and they are the ones on the ground before and after the crisis started.
Third, what are the lessons learned from Odi incidence, because this looks like another kind of mistake. I think Nigeria military should always contact or inform the police in this kind of operation because this is a police job and not military.

What did the military do to set off the community in the first place and how is collective punishment a panacea to the problem? Torching entire communities and razing down buildings in retribution can only fuel the cycle of violence. A friend of mine told me last night that the major reason army sent their major, and two captains and 22 soldiers was for a round table negotiation about a particular area where there is so much oil and gas, the two communities have been in lodger heads for a while now.
The army came in form of intervention, asking the both communities to get their hands off that place, the angry youth refused and vowed that they rather die than to allow such thing to happen.
It happens that they are two persons who approached the army and was asking the army series of questions which led to altercation, one of the army personal a northern person pulled the trigger and shot the two guys dead.
The youth all got angry and scattered around, there was a lot of fun shot in the area even before the youth decided to respond in kind.
There are other persons who later died as a result of bullet injuries.

To be clear, they want to subdue the east by all means.

Please raise their salaries. These men are risking their lives for Nigerians and their numbers keep going down daily. It is an embarrassment for soldiers to be killed by the country they serve. Govt needs to also do something about the corruption going on in the purchase of security equipment, machinery and security surveillance. It is time for Politicians and top military officers need to pay the ultimate price for corruption. Enough is enough. Upgrade as a matter of urgency weapons used by the Nigerian military. If you don't make salaries and soldiers welfare package attractive from the lowest rank, tell me, how can more youths who have passion for the country and fit for the military, who have no jobs take interest in joining the Nigerian military?
Selfish Nigerian Politicians, greedy top military and force men one day will have no one to protect them if they do not take the welfare of our gallant forces seriously.

The guest's perspective on the appropriate conduct of soldiers in response to the unfortunate loss of their comrades to criminal acts raises concerns. While it is true that soldiers have faced significant casualties in the northern region, it is essential to recognize that the government's response has not involved the destruction of communities. The responsibility for investigating and prosecuting criminal activities lies with the Nigerian Police Force (NPF), not the military. It is crucial to address the discrepancy in the government's response when soldiers are killed in the north compared to the destruction of communities in response to the death of a soldier.

It’s very bad to take lives because lives belongs to God. Speaking generally, APC’s politicians have made the reverse be the case. In our Nation today, animals feeds on humans instead of humans feeding on animals. As I speak, some young ladies and their little children have been rendered Widows and Fatherless by those called Bokoharam, Bandits etc for being Nigerian Soldiers and nothing is done about it. Those widows and their children are suffering so, I wouldn’t see it wise to go burn 🔥 down poor innocent people’s houses. APC’s politicians have failed our youths and more danger ahead if they continues their pretends to show all is well when it’s not. To them, of course but not all, to the ordinary Nigerians. Must everyone be politicians to be able to put food on his or her table? It’s really sad 😢 May the Souls of our Soldiers Rest in peace ❤

Any unwanton killing is condemnable. Moreso, the killing of troops in a non-combatant zone that is not foreign but within the confines of the Nigerian territory. This act of terror must be fully investigated and those fingered must be punished with the full weight of the law. I would prefer for commentators to avoid speculation and allow for relevant authorities to finish with the investigation. Anyone who is not privy to relevant information should avoid saying something. Reprisals if any, should avoid unnecessary killing of the innocent.

Considering that there is oil in that village, somebody might have carefully planned on displacing the entire villages so that the Northern military men may take over the bunkering jobs after the villagers have fled. It might had been a military against military internal attack. I suspect that. Of course it's just suspicion, but remember that there are repentant terrorists integrated into the military. Are we to assume they are all loyal to the military?

What's really gallant about 16 army officers who unsoldierly allowed themselves to be mauled down by a rag-tag army of thugs? Nigerian army of this generation is so inept you have no doubt whatsoever about their inability as soldiers. They are not like the Nzeogwus, the babangidas or even Buhari. How do you really account for the "gallantry" of the Nigerian army? Instead of targeting innocent civilians, the so called General on the programme should start thinking of the quality of soldiery in this country. As for showing "example" with people, you people have regularly visited violence on civilians like thugs that the international community know you for. The press is giving this country a horrible image by allowing people like horrible person to speak on an issue as important as this.
