Great performance by a sadly overlooked band. They had some high energy and proved that Little Richard, Bo Diddley and Chuck Berry had some disciples of Rock N Roll in the 80s!
I fell in love with this band when I first saw them on "The Midnight Special" as a college student, especially because of their biting satire as evidenced by both of these songs...
Great band. Kick ass music. And the shirts and ties gave them a touch of class. Like every other comment here, I wish the Bus Boys could have gone farther. They were amazing.
well considering the fact that they included the ku Klux Klan along with rock and roll and that's not right because most of the rock and roll bands that I know do not like racism
@@chriswalter8092 you do realize a big majority of rock and roll fans back in the day were racist hicks, right? It didn't matter what the bands liked or didint like. It was all about that mighty dollar
They were so frickin good!!! Kind of Oingo Boingo, kind of Tubes, kind of Ramones...kind of a lot of things! All in all, they rocked!!! And a HUGE influence on Fishbone! Thank you, Bus Boys!!!
True. But most people don’t know that the guitarist is now in the Circle with Sammy Hagar, the VH bassist and drummer John Bonhams son. He did pretty well for himself.
Saw this when it aired I'm 1980, walked through the hallway in high school singing 🎤 🎶🎵wanna join the ku klux klan , and play in a rock n roll band 🎶🎶and got into a fight , it was cool!! 😎
OMG, I don't know what (or who) made me think about this. The guys in the band used to drive me crazy cause I had this on VHS and it got lost. One of THE BEST Black rock bands ever. The comedy got them going...but kept people from taking them seriously. Cool people...the only "brothers" I had to hang with at Riki & Taime's Cathouse Hollywood..
First time I heard these guys my head exploded, I love these guys absolutely one of the best bands of their era and should have had much bigger success. I was probably 19 years old and playing top 40 and always tried to get my band mates to play some of their songs but they just didn’t get it. I still have one of their LP’s. 👏🏼👍🏼🤙🏼👊🏼🤩😎
Great band. I saw them at Bumbershoot, opening for Oingo Boingo and they tore up the place. Even after the lights came up they would not stop playing and we would not start cheering. Then the Mystical Knights of the Oingo Boigo came on and did a stellar show!
Dre Berry! He's also on that self-titled 1992 Total Eclipse album with fellow Bus Boy Vic Johnson cuttin' LOOSE on that axe, too:::wink:::wink:::if you don't have that one in your collection, FIND IT!!! ;-)
The first and only black new wave band. I liked these guys. Too bad it didn't take off for them. It was a great concept and these guys were really good.
Funny this post should mention the Best of Fridays collection... because although parts of this episode are on it, this musical performance is NOT. In fact none of the episodes appear to be complete. There are some great sketches and bands in the collection, so don't get me wrong, if you fondly remember Fridays, you might like it, but there's also a good chance that the sketch or musical performance you remember fondly is NOT on it.
Great performance by a sadly overlooked band. They had some high energy and proved that Little Richard, Bo Diddley and Chuck Berry had some disciples of Rock N Roll in the 80s!
...they touched on themes such as war, poverty and race, Then they added a punk energy and a funky sound and it was magic!
Miss them
I had ever 8 track lol
42 years later, still know every song
Rock n roll wouldn’t be what it is today without artists like Chuck Berry and bands like this
I fell in love with this band when I first saw them on "The Midnight Special" as a college student, especially because of their biting satire as evidenced by both of these songs...
Amazing group,,,,, they should've been way bigger !!!!
and what rhymes with bigger?... :)
Brings back memories of seeing the Bus Boys live 30+ years ago!
Holy CRAP the Bus Boys were SO freaking good! Just like Phantom, Rocker and Slick. FAR to unappreciated in the 80s.
I saw them open for Stray Cats in about '81. Great rock n roll band.
Me too, I think at the Whiskey. Not sure though, I used to smoke a lot of weed back then.
Great band. Kick ass music. And the shirts and ties gave them a touch of class. Like every other comment here, I wish the Bus Boys could have gone farther. They were amazing.
what happened to this guys?they are legends,so underrated, eddie murphy introduce them to me through his movie 48 hours,i loved them since then!
This would be so confusing today. They are actually playing instruments and singing...
Sadly, they were dismissed as a black Devo... like there's anything wrong with that! They were damned good.

@@chriswalter8092 It's satire. Because they're black. Get it?
@@nappathesaiyanwarrior1888 yeah man I thought the same thing.
If this music doesn't make ya get up & boogie, ya must be a fricking corpse! Man, these guys were so MFing great
Back in the day, when bands had talent and a sense of humor!
I saw the Bus Boys 3 times at various little clubs in Detroit back in the day. They put on one hell of a show. Total enjoyment.

An old roommate turned me on to these guys when their 1st album came out and I've been a fan ever since.
Speaking as a child of the seventies...
How did I miss these guys this is amazing

Great stuff. A mix of Chuck Barry, Little Richard, Hendrix with some punk and soul thrown in. Great musicians and a great show.
One of the best rocanrol bands of all time.
This one forces me to exercize . I call it dancing.
Love these guys!

Even more amazing live - they were the opening act to the Stray Cats. The Stray Cats should have been the opening act
Yep!
Talented, underappreciated band. Today's music sucks.
WOWWWW!!!
Funny🤣! They were truly overlooked! So was in living color!
Now we know where Michael Richards got all of his jokes!
Looooove these guys!
Awesome !!
never knew they were this great!!! ❤❤
Dude is toying with that MusicMan bass.....!
Dre Berry! He's also on that self-titled 1992 Total Eclipse album with fellow Bus Boy Vic Johnson cuttin' LOOSE on that axe, too:::wink:::wink:::if you don't have that one in your collection, FIND IT!!!

so glad I got to see them
These guys befriended me in 1984/85 in LA.I did some photography for them. Cool cats
This kicks ass!!!
I want to BE these guys!
Rocks unsung heroes. BLACKS MADE IT ALL OF IT FIRST
including slavery
Like wow
Was this the first Fishbone the whole time?! 😀
But Brian Setzer invented this sound in 1999 with Jump Jive and Wail....right.....
D A M N ! ! !
Man, if this song came out now they would get some much hate and backlash it wouldn't be funny.
we were not insane about race back in those days... we all hung out and got along

Circa 1984 A.C.C. Program best rifts in town.
Ripper love it 😂👍🇦🇺

The maitre d is dancin'
Somehow, I doubt the KKK would accept them. But playing in a rock n roll band,....
good sense of humor
Back then, most people had enough sense to know that the lyrics were satirical. Humor is on life support these days.
Remember music forces roots
Chocolate blueprint for the people's the bus boys 2018 ,2019.😀😁😂😃😄😅😆😉😊😋😎😍
😅😅😅😅😅
EDDIE MURPHY is #1
