Being to easy on yourself ( work on the things you're bad at and don't underestimate your "good" mechanics) 2:59 4. Giving opponents to much space ( pressure them when they have the ball so they can't make a play) 4:21 5. Shooting everytime ( take possession instead or pass to your teammates by shooting the ball right above or at the sides of the goal) 5:16 6. Not warming up ( just warm up: free play, custom maps etc.) 6:20 7. Wanting to rank up ( don't looking at your games but instead at your improvement will let you have less stress during games) 7:02 Hope this helped, btw Thanovic love your vids keep it up man.
I'm a diamond 3 player and I only ever play with my friend. I can confidently say that I would be a plat 3 player if it wasn't for enemies constantly falling for mistake #2 and giving us the game.
As a diamond 1 this is true. Half my games I’m lucky if I get teammates who can hit the ball. It’s actually so bad I haven’t been enjoying the game. Ranking system needs work.
@@GoblinUrNuts #1 not once did I say I deserve to be out of diamond. I can power hit the ball consistently, basic mechanics, Arials are okay and Im placed with people who can’t hit the ball, stay in the net all game and I can’t ever carry the ball with out teammates banging it off or away. All this happens almost every game and makes it not enjoyable. So it is true. You’re a typical idiot who thinks he’s smarter then most.
The main problem here in dia is that we are extremely inconsistent… I get opponents that can flip reset, but 20 sec later completely whiff the easiest shots… some games i hit everything very accurately and some games play like a silver…
I started rocket league cause of my son. I thought wow it looks like fun. Now iam playing it since maybe 180 hours and yesterday me and my mate hit diamond 1 and 2vs2. Such a good feeling. RUclips vids helped me a lot to improve my gameplay but some mechanics feels like unbeatable for me. Maybe it's my age, maybe cause less of time because of work and family life but I still try to learn more. Rocket league got so many mechanics, I think I have to focus on the most useful things like this half flip, defending balls flying in my back, accuracy for better shots, better clearing shots (often my shots ending up as a pass for the opponent) but I shot uncontrollably cause iam bad at dribbling or keeping the ball at my car. Hitting the ball at a wall is another thing, the switching cam is confusing me. So u see, I have a lot to learn.
Heavy on the last one imo. It's always that last game when your at __div 4 or your "de rank" game at div 1 or 2. Always putting on extra pressure to win. Thank's Than for the amazing tips per usual!
That last tip is how I climbed into Champ recently, I stopped raging every time I lost and collected a better mentality of “wait…it’s a game, why can’t I just relax and take my time with this grind”. Took a break, found some great teammates, came back strong and we shot straight through Diamond like it was nothing and this game’s been a blast since
That would work for anyone if they had a teammate to work things out with in different games and scenarios instead of always solo queing like most of us
@@Coolkid4205 not wrong, but I never touch the game now unless I’m really feeling it or have teammates. Simply not worth solo queuing anymore once you hit tilt level on any competitive game
Going off your last point, when I first started playing the game, maybe 5 or 6 months into the game. I reached Plat, I said to myself there is nothing I want more than to get to diamond. I played around 4 hours, 5 times a week to grind getting to Diamond. That took maybe half a year or more since I took some breaks, to try get there. After I got to that rank I was like eff that, I'm turning off chat and just playing for fun now. After every game I would just hit play again and didn't look at my rank. About one month later I boot up the game and go to competitive. Next thing I check is that I'm Champ 1. It was probably the fastest I've ranked up just from playing "casually" unfortunately though I slipped into my old ways and focused too much on grinding again. That point you made is so spot on, and I'd also like to implore another idea to others. Maybe the rank that your current at might not be the best you'll ever be but it might be the funnest rank for you right now. Why not have a good time while you're at it.
Mistake number 2 is huge. Too many people thinking they're the best on the team and ball chase and go for solo plays only then blame you when you can't follow up their bad touches
Oh I met a lot of them. Playing like a one man army, missing a flip or a shot, opponent hits the ball good I cant save it and than " tm8 what the f are u doing" "tm8 is a noob" "please ff u r bad" and all that in casual mode 🤣 I play casual to have fun only, improving my gameplay, maybe find a new gamer I like to play more with and so on. And they are playing casual like jigsaw is sitting in their neck and will kill them if they are losing 2 matches in a raw
About always shooting on net: I recently started abusing this in my 1's games (and 1v1 scenarios in general), and people in the lower ranks will always panic when they see the ball sent toward their net. I always just wait for them to get in an awkward spot/miss, then score.
Happy to see you do 2 videos a week. You are surely reviving your channel. But something i have to say is that i prefer this kind of videos rather than twich clips. I would like you to maybe two one video which you show us how to improve on then another one when you have to do a challange like "i give 100 dollars if i lose" cause those actually get views way more then twich clips. You can put your twich clips in the thancovic live channel or something like that cause you can see that this video in just one day got way more views than your twich clips
I agree that being harder on yourself helps you see what you can improve. It's like what wayton said as well in his what I learned after 7k hours video. However it's like sharpening a sword. If you sharpen the sword more it'll be stronger, and that's good. But if you sharpen it too much, it'll just become brittle and will break easily. (I learned this in science class, so stay in school kids 😁) So you do want to be hard on yourself and you will see on what to improve on. However you can't be TOO hard on yourself, other wise your confidence will fall completely and you probably won't go anywhere. You won't be able to improve bc your so hard on yourself that you start playing worse then usual. Iv been there myself as when I was d1 I was being so brutal to myself I went down to plat 1. It was not a good time to be a rl fan let me tell you.
Training Packs are problematic way to warm up. it can help a bit if you are really low elo. but it will not help with game sense and the shots don't mimic the actual game, they are way too static. Freeplay is nice however it's only for advanced and experienced players. those who have no idea what to do will mess them up. If there's 1 tip I can give to newbies out there. grind those rings maps. Sure, they may not help with game sense at all, but it will make you a god with air roll. Much much better than the others. It's way better than just some training pack. If I would've done more rings when I was newbie, I would've been less hardstuck. Game sense comes through time, or by wise people on youtube. this vid has some nice gamesense tips.
I can’t directionally air roll, air dribble, dribble, pretty much do anything but save the ball and hit it hard lol but I am constantly between c2/c3 in 2v2 Tip 3 is the best for me I am always too easy on myself and when I start looking at my mistakes and my replay losses then I get better.

7:25 is actually true i had never reached anymore than 1200 in 1s and i played on an alt trying out flakes' playstyle without caring too much about rank, rather caring more on improving the playstyle and i got 1320 in that session
the difference between an amateur and a pro is that the amateur practices until they get it right, and then they are satisfied. the pro practices until they never get it wrong. then they are satisfied.
Do you have a training pack to self setup backboard doubletaps at angles and learn to judge the speed of ball and car while lining it up well? I have 3k hours and barely starting to get good at hitting them but I still struggle to aim them exactly like I want because it's really hard to judge the exact timing, and practicing setups doesn't happen much.
Not stressing about every match also helps prevent stressing about random teammates. If you don't care when you win or lose, then you won't care if a teammate plays suboptimally. People who obsess over their teammates gameplay are also usually toxic and start to type in chat or use sarcastic quick chats. Being toxic in chat is a an easy way to turn winnable matches into impossible matches.
Yeah iam the random team mate u are talking about 🤣 the most at my level are way better and I feel sorry every time cause iam not that fast, iam not that good in the air and I miss 4-5 time the ball during every match. But if my mate is getting toxic it will make me even more sorry and make me more nervous. I get it that the most are playing much longer than me. I got a play time of 180 hours and my games are in the diamond rank. Maybe I raised to fast and maybe iam more like a gold player. But I never play rank with randoms, so they are getting toxic in casual and that's a room where I cant understand it. U lose nothing and win only experience. Ok in tournament I join as a random and try my best every time. I wish they would keep their toxic words until we are out and keeping the motivation of the team up until its over
I think that if you’re tired of playing and practicing your resets in free play a great place to go is casual for everything. It’s a lot less sweaty than ranked and you can try your freestyles without losing your rank.
Booming the ball down field and giving up possession can be very useful when they have more than one defender . you force opponents out of defense and open up for counters
Thanovic:"don't do this to rank up" Me:"what if you make those mistakes to uno reverse this video because _ # of people watched this video which means that when in battle they don't expect you to do those mistakes, so doing then will catch then off guard..
in 3s you can pretty much get to champ just sitting in net, i find 80% of goals in diamond are just a counter attack off double and triple commits. Even in 2s, I find focusing on defense will lead to goals until people can do mechanical things you just can't save around the C1 level. So someone with 0 mechanics, less speed and bad accuracy can get to champ within probably a couple months from starting the game.
100% play to improve and to learn, not for rank. Bonus tip: If you use bakkesmod it's worth going to the anonymizer tab and checking "hide all rank information". If you see you're div 4 or div 1 it just adds stress.
Warming up sounds like a great tip... Except for me. I think I have a focus problem. My adhd makes it hard for me to stay focused in the game for a long time. So literally my first 2 or 3 matches almost always seem to be my best matches of the day. I don't know why exactly. lol.
For the #1 tip I can say that sometimes passing it to the 2 instead of the solo player makes it more chaotic for the other team at times, I'm diamond 3 at best (have hit c1 few times) might not work at higher ranks though since they should know to position by then right....? For #7 sure, not to get stressed, sounds easy on paper lol, I tell myself shit like it's just a game I'm here to have fun, but you know as you play and lose 5x + in a row it just becomes bs at that point especially since you rank lower and teammates become more dumb and try to do more dumb things they can't do and make us get scored on, I try to trust teammates but when they constantly miss open nets to try to do some dumb ass aerial shit or fail to save a slow ass ball going into our net and whiff it becomes frustrating ass all hell, and some even sit back in 2s and wait for a miracle or something idk what is wrong eith them (ps. they usually get scored on anyways...) even worse they blame you for their mistakes while you are trying to win and just idle, leave or bump you and get mad alone... So I try not to get stressed or mad when I play but holy f is it difficult, SSS rank difficulty
Yea I swear people in c2 are starting to overestimate their ability’s and will go for ceiling shots or flip resets and 99% of the time they just give possession away it’s so annoying bc my teammate thinks he’s cracked and basically passes it to them because he’s not very good at them I will admit I go for stuff kinda like that but I usually try to hit it over for my teammate cause there’s a good chance I won’t score it
My biggest problem is playing on an old Xbox One S, having not a great TV, and an even older and not very good controller. I hit Champ but just don’t feel like playing because my game feels so sloppy and kinda clunky with me setup. It’s unfortunate really
Thanks thano, I always love these videos. I’m so close to getting champ! I always take your words and apply them to my gameplay. Hopefully with the info I just learned I can get champ tonight! Love ya bro. And until the next one❤️🔥
the tip about pressuring the ball should be gospel. seeing both your tms just sit and watch the opponents with the ball giving them all the space in the world is just ehhhh
these are helpful but for 2 i feel like you have to keep putting yourself in those situations to get better. Training and free play can only get you so far and practicing mechanics with live defenders is when i've improved most
I would say at least have some mechanics somewhat down first before trying ranked or try them at casuals first (please...) It's really frustrating seeing teammates at diamond 3 whiff an open net because they were trying some aerial bs multiple times and miss often on ranked
I think the #1 thing the irks me when i play this whenever you make contact with another player in air gravity just goes out the window and you float like a weather balloon on the moon.
Had a teammate say the reason we lost was because of my "ego", I apparently air dribbled solo a lot despite never doing it that game, even though him and his friend missed 3 saves that they could've waited to go for it. Also told me I wouldnt rank up, to then rank up like 6 games later
that last sentence hit too close to home for me lol, a long time ago I first set the bindings that I still use to this day. one of my old friends asks me what my bindings were, and because they're... *less* than conventional, he told me "you'll never rank up with those settings". 2 years later he's stuck in diamond since 2021 and I'm sitting at 1900 in 2s.
For shadowing you try to stay close to the ball but not so close so they can't flick it over you. Now you gave a few options you can do: You can either challenge right before they make a play or when they messed up their dribble. You also can just fake challenge so they hit the ball right to your teammat if he's behind you. If they still managed to hit the ball over you you can still make a backwards save if you skilled enough. Hope any of this helped!
Hi does anyone know how to put the scoreboard off in game because I use air roll left and when I hold that to go for a Air dribble all I can see is the scoreboard
Does anyone know what air roll is better because I just use air roll I don't use air roll left or right unless I'm doing half flips and things like that and if air roll right and left are better could anyone let me know which ones or how to use them/get used to it and get good and train with it?
Never have i ever had this much hope to actually rank up.. thanks for this inspirational video to put my mind back in the game and achieving success!!! *comes back 1 hr later* Wtf i ranked down instead!!!!
I get the be harder on yourself but is it a problem if Im so hard on myself that I literally cant say a single mech that Im good at or do I just really suck?
Most of the time your best mech is the mech you score the most often with (dribbling, shooting, arials) I also am really hard on myself and think I'm bad at every mech even tho I'm c2. So I tries training just every mech I can do untill I found something I'm more consistent at then the rest. I just found out I'm better at dribbling than most people of my rank and used that to score more often. I'm also traing the things I was less consistent at like arial control. Hope this helped a little, let me know if you have any other question 😁
I recommend simply anonymising the ranks. I started with c2 by activating the function via Bakkesmod and just played Ranked like Casuals. Got out after a few months on GC1 div 2. It is much more relaxed
i didnt look but if you havent can you do a twos guide half freestyling and half comp because me and my friend play 2s alot and our highest rank as a team was d3 div 2 and we wanna make that push but every time we play we always go in to casual to try and hit some clips but we not the best at that part so maybe a 2s guide could help us and others and ive been around yours and kickzees streams a fair bit to see how each one of you play 2s so ik roughly what i should be doing but its just not working 😂
I think a lot of people are hard stuck at the mid ranks because they play the rank and not the game their in, they kinda play like Smurf but they're bad, they don't give u respect although u on the same team.
The only mistake is getting noobs as tm8s , some players are definitely bronze or silver but I don’t how they get to plat they ball chase don’t rotate and even lose shots on goal some even try doing mechanics which they are bad at and rocket league will always team you with them
Yeah I’m a freestyler and now I don’t play rank anymore trying to improve my mechs I’m training double flip reset I can get it but not in goal so yeah( I’m c1 in 1v1) on my alt on main I’m plat 3
I’m literally gonna make a compilation of my teammates going for mechanics they’re too bad to do, got in a ones match and this mans was tryna musty flip at the ball from the ground 🤣
I don't rage nor get mad when I play rl becuse I play some music to calm me down I've already been doing it for the past month and it makes me play so much better then I normal do.

Thx man I've been stuck in d3 for a while now and this video helped me out!
Man your vids help me so much thanks alot and keep up the great work!!!
Booming the ball down field and giving up possession can be very useful when they have more than one defender . you force opponents out of defense and open up for counters
Thanovic:"don't do this to rank up"
Me:"what if you make those mistakes to uno reverse this video because _ # of people watched this video which means that when in battle they don't expect you to do those mistakes, so doing then will catch then off guard..
in 3s you can pretty much get to champ just sitting in net, i find 80% of goals in diamond are just a counter attack off double and triple commits.
Cheers for the tips bud. Love your content and play style 👍👍
Last tip is the one i needed to hear most
Warming up sounds like a great tip... Except for me. I think I have a focus problem. My adhd makes it hard for me to stay focused in the game for a long time. So literally my first 2 or 3 matches almost always seem to be my best matches of the day. I don't know why exactly. lol.
Thanks, this really helped me😄
very good video! :) Helps me a lot!
Yea I swear people in c2 are starting to overestimate their ability’s and will go for ceiling shots or flip resets and 99% of the time they just give possession away it’s so annoying bc my teammate thinks he’s cracked and basically passes it to them because he’s not very good at them I will admit I go for stuff kinda like that but I usually try to hit it over for my teammate cause there’s a good chance I won’t score it
the 'wanting to actually rank up' idea is actually one i can relate to, thats how yk this man talks fax
5:30 people really need to know that. Especially in 3s.
would shooting just to breakdown the defence be a good option
Yes that’s a really solid option! Shooting to pressure and wear them down when you know you can keep up the pressure and get the rebound
Just got c3 for the first time then went on two day lose streak back to c1 so hopefully this helps me out a bit
When I’m one a losing streak or I don’t feel good on rl, I just watch this video and then I’ll win my next game! Thanks thanovic!
Great vid thano🫡
ahh noo tornado is goneeee!
you forgot to add the warmup link in vid
Oh shoot 2 secs
Your previous tips helped my reach plat from gold (I only have 50 hours)
What rank are you thanovic
the tip about pressuring the ball should be gospel. seeing both your tms just sit and watch the opponents with the ball giving them all the space in the world is just ehhhh
these are helpful but for 2 i feel like you have to keep putting yourself in those situations to get better.
Great video THANOVIC. If I could add 1 thing. Finding a group of like minded teammates close to your rank.
I think the #1 thing the irks me when i play this whenever you make contact with another player in air gravity just goes out the window and you float like a weather balloon on the moon.
Whats the new decal called? The lava looking one
5:39 what decal is that thanovic
thx for the last one
Ever saw a diamond who can triple flip reset consistently?
thanks for all the infice thank yor amzing at rocket leauge
whats ur cam settings
Love it!
4:35 how do you shadow whilst not giving them too space
For shadowing you try to stay close to the ball but not so close so they can't flick it over you.
Now you gave a few options you can do:
You can either challenge right before they make a play or when they messed up their dribble.
*comes back 1 hr later*
Wtf i ranked down instead!!!!
Woah, im also sick at the moment of watching this video. Hope you get better soon.
Good tips
woah did you edit this?
Omg that is so accurate. My smurf account ended up higher rank than my main cuz i didnt care about rank. Next thing i know im back in champ lobbies.
what's the decal at 4:40?
I get the be harder on yourself but is it a problem if Im so hard on myself that I literally cant say a single mech that Im good at or do I just really suck?
Most of the time your best mech is the mech you score the most often with (dribbling, shooting, arials)
I also am really hard on myself and think I'm bad at every mech even tho I'm c2.
I get gome just in time for the 3x3 tournament. It suc going in those cold. 🥶
What’s the decal on 3:41
i seriously gotta put time into positioning and pressure
What's the name of the whells at 1:34 😭🤧
I recommend simply anonymising the ranks. I started with c2 by activating the function via Bakkesmod and just played Ranked like Casuals. Got out after a few months on GC1 div 2. It is much more relaxed
@Ayaan Rahim you can toggle a setting in bakkesmod that hides all rank info in the game
The amount of times I have yelled don't give away possession is unreal. You could make a montage of me just saying 'STOP GIVING THE BALL AWAY'
i didnt look but if you havent can you do a twos guide half freestyling and half comp because me and my friend play 2s alot and our highest rank as a team was d3 div 2 and we wanna make that push but every time we play we always go in to casual to try and hit some clips but we not the best at that part so maybe a 2s guide could help us and others and ive been around yours and kickzees streams a fair bit to see how each one of you play 2s so ik roughly what i should be doing but its just not working 😂
I think a lot of people are hard stuck at the mid ranks because they play the rank and not the game their in, they kinda play like Smurf but they're bad, they don't give u respect although u on the same team.
More vids like this! Please…
I usually warm up with casual 1s it gets me ready and fast
When the games score is 3 to them and 0 to me, my brain completely turns off and I end up voting forfeit
The only mistake is getting noobs as tm8s , some players are definitely bronze or silver but I don’t how they get to plat they ball chase don’t rotate and even lose shots on goal some even try doing mechanics which they are bad at and rocket league will always team you with them
So we should smurf?
Been playing this game for about 2 weeks now and am getting addicted to it...
I do this everytime if i see i can just airdriblle score ill try to clip and go for a flip reset musty and they save lol( freestyler) low rank gold1
If you can flip reset musty you don't deserve gold my man
Yeah I’m a freestyler and now I don’t play rank anymore trying to improve my mechs I’m training double flip reset I can get it but not in goal so yeah( I’m c1 in 1v1) on my alt on main I’m plat 3
1- not carrying hard enough
2- not carrying hard enough
3- not carrying hard enough
So what you said about the smurf account you are right, basically get in higher rank on your smurf, and then go smurf in your real account
My warm-up is often just playing some casual matches😅
Number 7 is soooo true
I’m literally gonna make a compilation of my teammates going for mechanics they’re too bad to do, got in a ones match and this mans was tryna musty flip at the ball from the ground 🤣
Bruh that's gonna be a 2 hour complication
I don't rage nor get mad when I play rl becuse I play some music to calm me down I've already been doing it for the past month and it makes me play so much better then I normal do.
