@Aluzky Human meat is actually full of diseases and stuff so not a good idea, plus there is a commonality in nature that humans taste awful. Also, what the fuck is wrong with you? That was his friend. So what the fuck? Why would they eat him. Truly terrible of you.
The part about the radiation disappearing isn't complete BS. He mentioned earlier that the ozone was pock marked with holes like cheese, so he was likely under an area still intact. Also, tuberculosis? He was reading up on all kinds of books about radiation poisoning, and there's literally high amounts of radiation everywhere...
Also if he had the ability and resources to drive over 1000 miles to San Francisco- why didnt he do it much earlier- instead waiting in a wasteland while dying of radiation poisoning?
The ozone layer part actually could be explained with science. A solar flare could cause holes in the ozone layer but leave parts of it intact still. Areas that receive more sun exposure would have more damage to the ozone layer (causing it to disappear in spots) and those that are more equidistant would have less damage. The ozone layer can also heal. Solar flares don't continue on forever either. Most likely once the sun settled down parts of the ozone layer healed up in areas with less damage.
Yeah, that or the fact that humanity is damaging the ozone layer. The decreased amounts of humans would then cause it go return. However, it seems as though the ozone layer in the movie was weakened, then hit by a solar flare or such. It then slowly repaired itself.
If temperature on Earth rise to 65C permafrost would melt, releasing hella lot of methane, which in turn would affect global warming more than humanity did through whole it history, and this will most likely release even more methane from the seawater. When percentage of methane in atmosfere reach 16 it become flamable. So it is a one way ticket.
From what I just looked up, the ozone layer helps to increase the temperature on earth. If it was depleted, it should cool down, not heat up. Everything said that the ozone layer helps to trap heat by absorbing solar UV radiation and infrared radiation from the earth. Both of these help increase temperatures. And yes, the ozone layer can repair itself. I remember when the hole in the ozone layer was the next doomsday problem. Don't ever hear about that anymore, despite it still existing.

Jeff is truly getting the shortest end of the stick here, though. Goodyear will die, it's inevitable - so what is Jeff supposed to do then? Is he supposed to follow his core directives to a T and put the dog on ice somehow? Or is he just going to wander the wasteland aimlessly until he falls apart

same. It is not entirely bullshit tho, but why this is a thing in/near San Fransisco is beyond my comprehension My guess from what little i know about atmosphere is that you would probably find the ozone layer to recover at Earths median line first? Most ozone manifests along the equatorial area, but it lasts long enough to be carried around the globe - so either this was a pocket and only a temporary effect... or just drama. Probably latter.
Ay you guys remember that movie where the plot was the sun solar flare so big it reaches earth and kill human but some children's were chosen by alien to save them
Good movie and as usual Hanks work as a person in an untenable situation separated from other humans is a good gut punch. Dewey was basically Wilson 2.0 and Jeff wound up being Wilson 3.0 lol.
I have a very emotional bond with this movie this was the last movie me and my mum watched before she died in a car crash this brought a tear to my eye as a saw it
I'll be honest with you, I'm not going to say any of that 'she's in a better place now' stuff. She's resting, she's at peace. And I'll bet anything she was glad she got to spend some of her last moments with you. Her life is over, and the best you can do is live yours for her.
I love how through out the movie jeffs voice and movements becomes more humane. Really shows jeffs character development and it brings a tear to my eye.
The voice thing also happens in a movie called "next gen" It's animated and it's sort of a kids movie but I really think teens or even young adults would like it too, it has some dark themes like *[spoilers end next paragraph]* a girl wanting to get revenge (and I don't use this word lightly) against her bully and an AI wishing to end all humanity Would definitely recommend a watch, it's on netflix, it's about a girl who discovers a robot that is very weaponized but in order to remember his time with her he deletes his weapon system
@@quonkylops it was also made mostly using Blender. Free open source 3D software, it’s awesome. You can do anything from drawing to sculpting to 3d modeling to rigging to physics and simulations to hair and particles to video editing and even motion tracking.
Such a touching story, I'll have to watch the real movie, also, I like how Mystery Recapped can explain and describe a movie in such a short period while still giving the facts and important parts of the story.
He did not have tuberculosis, that can be treated with anti-biotics. He was suffering from acute radiation exposure. The vomiting blood is from loss of intestinal and stomach lining, probably has multiple tumors and luekemia.
Tom Hanks has a really good personality when it comes to playing secluded roles . Castaway, Philadelphia, Forrest Gump. He captures that mindset almost like depression when a person feels desolate or abandoned
exactly, but I think the best part of his performances are that while he captures the sense of desolation and solitude, it doesn’t become outright depressing either, like he’s isolated, but he remains human, if that makes sense….like he’s not just some weeping pathetic husk of a person, there’s layers to it.
in 2024-2026 the activity on the sun will be high causing solar rays to hit/miss earth, nasa has charts of it and forcasts it's public knowledge. And, also global warming is a thing
This is the first movie ever made where everything is set around the dog. When Jeff was first created, he said. "You have a friend!" So you're thinking it as just having a friendship of a by-product by him having been made. No! Jeff's soul purpose in life. His creation. Is to be Goodyear's friend and to take care of him. He knew he was dying and wanted someone, trustworthy, who would take good care of his dog.
I need a second movie of this, Or atleast 2 more. Just due to the fact I want to see Jeff get smarter and smarter, His posture fixed, Him walking way more smooth. Including his running and such, His movement all smooth, Just all-around more human like instead of robotic. Maybe even gadgets and such or Jeff giving, fixing and fiddling with himself to an extent to make him better at said things. It would honestly be a cool movie or two to see, Jeff meeting other people, Maybe getting snatched up and going on a hunt to find the dog. I need this so bad.
Hear me out,a second movie but there's just countless or maybe 5 or 6 times where jeff changes out body parts for certain things, I.e a more hammer shapped arm for making a tent, or as a fun little joke a ball shooting arm
I kind of hope Jeff knows enough to make more robots. Or at least "learn" how to make more. It'd be cool to see a sequel about a decade later in this story, where there's another group of youths, maybe a family, that comes across Jeff and the robot community.
@@earljames5415 no JUST GOOD YEAR. Like one random survivor kicks a dog that turns a corner into his path, and then 30 robots turn the corner and start beating the shit out of him.
Not true. If you look at scientific evidence it was Warner in medieval times, then we had a cool period on the Victorian era so it's warmer but not as warm as it has been on the past
That stirs up some emotions, I literally watched this and the way Jeff sees finch not as a creator or god, but as a parent, and loved him as such. Maybe AI can feel emotion ya know
i don't know why, but i really like movies where someone makes a robot with emotions, especially when there is a dog involved great movie, great recap, overall great video!
Everyone needs to watch this movie. A recap is great but doesn't do it justice. When watching, you really feel the character growth. There are so many little details that truly emotionally tie you to them. (Pay attention to how Jeff slowly gains a more natural and human way of speaking.) It's like your growing with them. Highly recommend this movie. It's my all time favorite. Tom Hanks did an amazing job playing an old man in the apocalypse.
I watched the movie and it was so moving. It was heart warming and scary at the same time. Scary because the scenario was totally plausible. I almost cried at the ending. Also, I am really glad Jeff stayed good. When a nail stuck in his head I was scared it will ruin his systems and make him bad. Luckily this was not a robot gone rogue movie
What are you basing that on ? It has never happened and the Earth is billions of years old. Of the many apocalyptic possibilities, solar flares severely damaging the ozone layer causing the earth to be uninhabitable would be way down the list.
I would also make a robot to protect my dog, I love that fluffer more than anything. Also, the atmosphere can have different levels of ozon, like the massive hole we had in it like 10-15 years back. Patches of grass and flowers using photosynthesis will create oxygen, and oxygen in the higher levels of the atmosphere interacts with the suns radiation, creating ozon.
My dog is 12, I've had him since I was 11, he completely has my heart, no matter what he does, I love him, he's like my baby, and im not one who babies animals but I've raised him since he was a baby since I was a just a little kid and I love him so much. I would give my life for him
Hey, message for J J, and Tomikun, Screw you both, I want to see what Jeff and Goodyear are up to, they can just leave it off with the potential to make it a series or something.
I'm in love with the world-building of this story. It really reminds me of the Metro with a bit of Fallout. Minus the mutant monstrosities and more about the harsh environmental hazards.
Seriously though. His arm at the very beginning (pip boy vibes) and him walking through what's left with a robot reminded me directly of fallout. I stopped watching this in the first minute because I need to see it now without spoilers lol

Fun facts. 1. Everything nice you heard about Tom Hanks is true. He was two grades ahead of me at Skyline. He had a small part in South Pacific. My mother commented he had something special way back then. His dad? He was my culinary Arts teacher at Laney College. He liked my stuffed Bell peppers. My guess from what little i know about atmosphere is that you would probably find the ozone layer to recover at Earths median line first? Most ozone manifests along the equatorial area, but it lasts long enough to be carried around the globe - so either this was a pocket and only a temporary effect... or just drama. Probably latter.

The voice thing also happens in a movie called "next gen"
It's animated and it's sort of a kids movie but I really think teens or even young adults would like it too, it has some dark themes like *[spoilers end next paragraph]* a girl wanting to get revenge (and I don't use this word lightly) against her bully and an AI wishing to end all humanity

Tom Hanks has a really good personality when it comes to playing secluded roles . Castaway, Philadelphia, Forrest Gump. He captures that mindset almost like depression when a person feels desolate or abandoned
I should have bought Apple Stock when Lt. Dan did.
Guy could probably play Dr.Manhattan.
exactly, but I think the best part of his performances are that while he captures the sense of desolation and solitude, it doesn’t become outright depressing either, like he’s isolated, but he remains human, if that makes sense….like he’s not just some weeping pathetic husk of a person, there’s layers to it.

Maybe even gadgets and such or Jeff giving, fixing and fiddling with himself to an extent to make him better at said things. It would honestly be a cool movie or two to see, Jeff meeting other people, Maybe getting snatched up and going on a hunt to find the dog. I need this so bad.

It annoyed me how Finch would explain things to Jeff. Like some sort of puzzle or riddle. Just tell him straight since he isn’t fully developed.

Didn't see the movie, but you made it into a good short story!
I watched the movie and it was so moving. It was heart warming and scary at the same time. Scary because the scenario was totally plausible. I almost cried at the ending.
Also, I am really glad Jeff stayed good. When a nail stuck in his head I was scared it will ruin his systems and make him bad. Luckily this was not a robot gone rogue movie
pretty sure it doesn’t work like that, but still still happy that it’s not that, if was though it probably someone changing his programming.
I cried at Dewey dying.

It's not only plausible, this is the reality we are speeding towards. This WILL BE earth In 2050.
i always liked this movie since i always thought this would happen one day its sci-fi but also kinda realistic. And the plot was wholesome.

So basically the area Finch was staying in was like ground zero of the solar flare or at the very least in it's impact area
