@@shipwrecksunday ive been on one cruise ship on a day trip to the Bahamas. Since I am an introvert, bigger ships and crowds do not appeal to me. I don't have a fear of people, its just the mass of humanity and the noise all in one place.
I would prefer ocean liners or smaller sized cruise ships. I would like a blend of entertainment but with a bit of class as with older liners.

Avid cruiser, but also blessed enough to be going on my 4th sailing on the QM2. The newer cruise ships are ridiculous. Too big, too many people. My favorite is one of Carnival's oldest, the Elation. Cruise number 11 on her coming up in February. I've been on Carnival's bigger ships, and on NCL's Breakaway. Way, way too much ship. I', hoping Carnival reverses the trend of bigger and replaces the old Fascination class with newer 1800-2000 passenger ships. Now, the Queen. She is freaking awesome. Whole different vibe, whole different experience. She's newer, but honors the past. I still remember my first westbound, coming into NY harbor at 4am and seeing the Statue of Liberty lit up... and thinking of the millions of people who saw that just as I was, but on their way to start a new life. It was really emotional...

A transatlantic cruise or any cruise would be fun, but it would most likely be on a cruise ship.
It would be cool to sail over where the Titanic went down, but the QM2 sails up farther north by Newfoundland.
I've heard some say an Alaskan cruise is great, and sometimes dolphins & even killer whales will make an appearance 😊
I guess one could always apply for a job on a container ship or cargo ship, get paid to see the ocean 😂😂

I reckon, if an ocean liner is designed well enough, it could have a smaller carbon footprint per passenger-mile than a typical commercial airliner. I wish there were more of them!

In short, ocean liners were glorified ferries, while cruise ships are travelling resorts. As for my preference, it's the liners overall, simply because they were the pinnacle of naval architecture and engineering, with their superior seakeeping abilities and carefully crafted designs that were unique among each other, even among sister ships. That's not a knock on cruise ships though: having been on two thus far I can definitively say they are a blast to be on and are a wonderful way to see the world. I am of the firm belief that if the necessary qualities of both liners and cruise ships are combined into one, one will have perfected the passenger shipbuilding art.
Also, I wouldn't really consider the greater size of cruise ships as a fair comparison. The only reason they are now so much bigger than the liners of yesteryear is simply because of how far shipbuilding has advanced in such a short time. Many of the first cruise ships as we know them today were still a good deal smaller than the biggest liners from the past. In fact, Cunard's R.M.S. Queen Elizabeth of 1940 held the record of world's largest passenger ship for nearly 6 decades before Carnival's Sunshine finally took the title in 1996, when she became the first ship to break the 100,000 ton mark.

On the one hand, it would have been great to sail on an ocean liner back in the day. The downside? Everybody smoked, everybody, as if their life depended on it. Going on a cruise ship? The downsides:
    a) Crowds
    b) The exposure to norovirus. Gotta be mindful at all times.
So, with QM2, you can still get norovirus, smokers are basically exiled and there remains some of the romance of the past-as in you have to dress a lot nicer and people are more behaved.

I don’t know if you know this or not, but you do realize that the Cunard line has a new ship called the Queen Anne right? I’m not an expert on ships, but if it’s in service, does that not mean there are now two ocean-liners in existence other than the Queen Mary 2? Since you’ve cover ships on your channel, you might wanna look up the Queen Anne just a suggestion. I love your channel by the way.
