The Indian Air Force (IAF) is participating in Exercise INIOCHOS-23, a multi-national air exercise hosted by the Hellenic Air Force, the air force of Greece.
The Sukhoi Su-30MKI[a] (NATO reporting name: Flanker-H) is a twinjet multirole air superiority fighter developed by Russia's Sukhoi and built under licence by India's Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) for the Indian Air Force (IAF). A variant of the Sukhoi Su-30, it is a heavy, all-weather, long-range fighter.

No. 222 Squadron (Tigersharks) is a maritime strike unit based out of Thanjavur. It is the first Sukhoi Su-30 MKI squadron based in southern India and is the also the first squadron equipped with air launched BrahMos cruise missile

What struck me the most is that these particular Flankers are from the 222 Squadron (Tigersharks). This squadron is assigned (among other roles) the role of maritime strike. Which means these Flankers are one of those that have been modified to be able to carry the BrahMos-A supersonic cruise missile. They are bad news for any non-carrier naval flotilla out there. This one squadron alone can massively change the outcome of naval battles in the Malacca Straits.

The earlier variants the basic Su30 were the ones procured directly from Russia between 1998 and 2002, around 18 of them, they were all returned back to Russia by around 2007 as homegrown Su30mki production had begun in 2002 with very specific India required enhancements, weaponry, radars, etc.

It's interesting how sharply they climb after rotation. I wonder if it's to eliminate the risk of sinking back onto the runway by accident.
They have very powerfull engines. Their thrust to weight ratio is greater than 1. They also have very big wings and canards so they can generate higher lift at slow speed also. It's very normally for them to climb very fast.
@@avdhutpawar1545 well, yes, but that’s not a reason. The F-22 has more powerful engines, larger wings, and a higher thrust to weight ratio, but Raptor takeoffs are usually quite shallow.
If anything that sharp climb indicates that they’re not confident that the engines will get them off the ground easily enough so they pull up more sharply.

Here since they have to launch large number of jets in short span of time so Sukhoi-30MKI since have capability to climb fast they are trying to achieve height as fast as they can and trying to clear path fir other jets hence they don't have to wait for long time on runway. Sukhoi-30MKI has large size and weight they also create large vortex which can be dangerous for upcoming jets. You can see that jets those are launched after Sukhoi-30MKI they have to wait for more time because they are waiting for Air Vortices to clear. That is why Sukhoi-30MKI is trying to gain height as fast as he can and clear flight path.
@@jacobbaumgardner3406 If Sukhoi-30MKI had taken normal angle as other then he would have generated big vortices on that whole path. This would increase wait time for upcoming jet. Here Sukhoi-30MKI took much steep angle hence vortices generated by it affects very less path of upcoming jets. Hence waiting time of next jet decreases.
@@jacobbaumgardner3406 Dude if they are not confident about thei engines then no pilot will climb that steep. At that steep angle whole body of jet generate huge drag hence you require very powerfull engines to overcome that drag. If engines are not powerful at that angles then jet will slow down and eventually Wings will not produce require lift. Hence in that case jet will fall back on ground.

This particular Squadron, named Tigersharks (Squadron 222) operates 18 SU 30MKIs specially modified. Alongside the regular capabilities, 2 out of their 12 hardpoints are modified to carry the anti ship BrahMos supersonic cruise missiles for enhancing their maritime strike capabilities. Other than carrier groups, all naval forces are basically sitting ducks in front of them.

The most recent dogfight between pakisthani air force & Indian Air force, IAF before mig21 shoot down paf f16 ,it's the Sukhoi 30 mki which jammed the amraam missiles of paf f16 ,you can see the digital signature images of that dogfight taken by IAF aewaacs & paf aewaacs in the internet ,but it's true that upgraded Sukhoi 30 mki with our advance aesa radar is better than chinese j20 fighter jet in terms of technology

Avoid bird strikes, AL 31 engines are expensive
it is just an operational procedure followed by the Indian Airforce..to bring the risk of birth strike down as majority of Indian bases are in habitable zones it is also done to bring noise level down over the cities, along with that it also helps to use the inertia of those powerful jets to gain altitude before switching those afterburners down

Thanks to the Government of India from 1995 to 2014 they brought Su30mki to Indian Airforce and that too not 36 but 272 of them with 2/3rd being manufactured in India by HAL.
We are now Upgrading our SU-30 MKI to Super Sukhoi Standards which will make it a Lethal Beast

These aircraft had a swear dust allergy in Indian environment specifically in sandy desert of Gujrat. IAF didn't want to place them in Punjab as they would be in striking distance from Lahore. They were in to maintenance more than flying. So not sure if India benifited from the deal more or Sukhoi 😂

F-35 has a Top Speed of Mach 1.6, this can easily exceed Mach 2. So as far as outrunning is concerned, yeah, it can easily outrun a 35 and match a 22
F-35 looses it's stealth coating if it goes above Mach 1. A few supersonic flights during combat operations and you have a Fighter fully visible on Radar. Don't believe me? Ask any F-35 pilot. This issue is so old and so persistent that Lockheed has given up on it. It's in acknowledged list of issues but it's currently not being worked upon. Currently it's limited to just 1 min of supersonic flight across all air forces that operate F-35. A plane designed to super-cruise can't stay supersonic.
