@@Bigbanggamingyt it's not bad but you will likely find it cheaper to do more complex stuff on Google colab and pay for the GPU/TPU processing power instead of buying your own hardware. Especially when you don't need that power every day.

How did you force numpy to use GPU for matrix multiplication? Looking at how sluggish Mac Air got, I am sure your program was using CPU. Infact, I don't think there's a way to force numpy to use GPU. Deep learning libraries do not use native numpy for matrix multiplication on GPU.

I think in Windows GPU don’t get used without configuring the GPU like NVIDIA but in Mac I am not sure how it happened but I cam easily guarantee from the Activity monitor it did use Mac’s GPU
@@SinghinUSA Read more about it. Numpy natively cannot utilize GPU. It wasn't your program utilizing the GPU. And your system cannot lag if the operation was on GPU.
@@SinghinUSA In the activity monitor it shows GPU utilization for PyCharm. PyCharm is actually a very heavy IDE and the GPU utilization is for the application itself and not the python program u were running. The deep learning frameworks that typically utilize GPU uses specialized data structures called "Tensors" and not the regular numpy arrays.

I’m pretty sure that those matrix multiplication programs at the end were not tests for gpu as numpy doesn’t support that. People use something like numba if they want to use gpu for similar tasks.
But i saw in the activity monitor Pycharm GPU usage upto 25%
Hey, just a quick correction in your video. numpy doesn't use GPU, it uses SIMD on CPU itself. you need to use numba for GPU utilization or you could also do a tensorflow GPU based test that will tell the true performance of GPU. the GPU usage you were seeing was just the GUI for pycharm.
Id still go for the baseline m1 MacBook air for my Sideline work being a developer this is enough for me

However, without knowing the file sizes, that’s not very meaningful.
Hey your just using Numpy to do a basic matrix multiplication. This operation uses your CPU only. Also anything using tensorflow is not GPU intensive. Only when use tf-GPU its going to utilize GPU otherwise it wont. But the catch is tf-GPU or even Pytorch's GPU version can only be installed on CUDA supported devices (Basically devices with NVIDIA GPUs) which macbook doesnt have. So your whole point of GPU utilization is irrelevant since your not utilizing GPU at all.

14" is not just a slight upgrade. The M1 Max is very significantly more powerfull than M1. M1 max is literally 2 M1 chips stuck together, so twice the memory bandwidth and everything. You also have more GPU cores I believe. And the pro has a much much better XDR display with micro dimming, so HDR videos look amazing.

Without a doubt m1pro and m1max chips are newer and better and more efficient.
But it'd be very unfair to not consider the newer faster larger ram and storage VS older slower smaller ram and storage.
According to me I'd still go for macbook air m1 chip
Rather than macbook Pro m1 pro/max because air m1 is beating m1pros ass even with half the ram and half the no of cpu GPU cores.
Id still go for the top air m1 variant and it will be still $1000 cheaper and better than macbook pro m1pro

@@justhope3612 Obviously. He's just making the video for views. Most of his viewers are Indian. In India, even M1 Air is a far cry and almost impossible for majority of people. Anyone in India rich enough to buy the Pro models for college won't care about the price anyway. The video is pointless in that respect.
And regarding the TECH perspective (setting aside the cost), the review was still pointless. He didn't compare it well. In video editing he didn't use 4K ProRes in which the Pro and Max beat M1 by a far margin. He shoots on 1080p in .H264 encoding format so even having an iPhone 13 Pro Max is pointless. He can just use a cheaper phone for that.
Well, he earns illegally through RUclips and Sponsorships so there's that. We can't stop him from doing that. He has illegal money and he can do whatever he wants with it. I don't think he doesn't read this type of comments. He knows. But how can he reply to me saying its legal? RUclipsrs like YudiJ have already warned us of doing what Harnoor's doing so that we don't get in trouble but it's a different thing from Harnoor. He has an American GF so he don't have to worry.

m1 air with 512 and 16 gb ram is 125k and m1 pro 14 is 175 k 50k difference but in return we get more ports fast charging better display pro motio better webcam mic and speakers obviously better permormance etc etc etc i liked the base 14 inch for 175k

Even before I watched, I knew the m1 pro 14 would be the winner 💻. Everything from the nicer screen, 120hz refresh rate, camera, sound, etc is way more enjoyable. It’s more expensive, but what apple products aren’t? That 14 m1 pro is a beast of a machine from students to professionals!!!
Just pointing out numpy doesn't use GPU's natively, so unless you are using an over the top compiler (eg. Numba) which I think you weren't, That is a not a ground of comparison for GPU performance.
Pleased to see someone pointing that out. I am shocked to see that he assumed that his system would lag because of GPU utilization of 1% :P
Exactly, it was so frustrating. He kept saying gpu again and again for numpy xD. Also, most of the deep learning libraries like pytorch tensorflow uses nvidia cuda cores only, so they can’t utilise mac gpu even if he tested some deep learning.

Singh ji, the speed of transferring files on SD card could be bcos the Mac M1 pro has inbuilt SD card reader and on the other hand MacBook AIR support external SD card reader which could be USB 2.0... there speed definitely differ..

@@RajPatil-rj2dv hey Raj. I actually bought MAC M1 pro but to run models in GPU I use google collab pro. I thought of not running DL models in my laptop. It’s tedious to find a workaround and I was more convinced to get MAC. But Mac works exceptionally well if you want to run other tasks. One other option would be to get a gaming laptop if you really want your own personal GPU. Also, mostly universities help in utilising there servers for project work and stuff. Good luck.

People on RUclips … compare a 8gb machine against 16gb and comes to the conclusion that the 16gb are faster in browsing - you even did dig into the ram usage and saw the pressure on the air. I mean cmon, no way Jose that there is only a cpu/gpu but rather a ram hit you taking here. Should have compared 16gb vs 16gb. But thanks for the test anyways.
difference in india is 1 lakh
np.matmul does not by default use gpu. You have to convert it to tensor cores and then offload the floating points to GPU. you are just doing that multiplication on CPU as of now. Also, 30k x 30k isn't a huge matrix in deep learning terms for GPU.
if something is comparable, opt for the cheaper.

What a noobie analysis for a Programmer mate: In therms of File Transfer you cannot conclude that M1 Pro is twice faster, basically because you're using an adapter/dongle on the M1 Air, and on M1 Pro you've plugged the SD on the Notebook - for sure It will be faster, common, on any notebook It will happens. If you compare the File Transfer Speed on your Macbook Pro using the adapter, and after plugin the SD straight to the port on the Notebook - you'll see the huge difference, adapter is always slower. Make my day...
