Thanks for uploading this, clips of GMTV of this very short lived era are rare. It's quite noticeable that based on the presenters leading from the sofa instead of the desk, major changes had been made, with more on the way. Fiona would have been gone within weeks of this clip.

+Steve _G Mixing up the presenting partnership too. I remember how jarring it felt, shifting from the familiarity of TV-am to this. I feel that it did have something about it which may have succeeded under different circumstances. It was bright, had a good variety of items. A bit cheesy, but pleasant.

+97channel I was only 6 at the time, but I didn't like it, it wasn't Mallett not Morris or any of the cartoons TV-am had, but as you say quite the change. Within weeks it was a carbon copy of TV-am.

+Steve _G Killing off Wacaday and the Saturday line up of cartoons is something I'll always resent GMTV for. Cloning TV-am was most likely the right business response to the crisis of the dramatic ratings decline. After all, the audience never asked for the change in the first place. But it was an extra kick in the teeth for TV-am, and a disappointment to see such a hasty retreat from anything remotely daring and new.

Donald Evans MP was talking rubbish. 40 hours work a week for dole money? "Just like you and I do.". Yeah, that's fair. Full time work for at least a quarter of the pay that the lowest paid workers receive. Cut his wages back like that, I'll bet he'd have been delighted and not complained at all.

Studio 5 has to be one of the smallest breakfast television studios around, it only measures around 2,200 Sq Ft in total. I think it was created in 1992 for GMTV's launch in 1993, I don't think it was part of the original London Studios complex in 1972 when it first opened as LWT headquarters.

Guess we were all watching The Big Breakfast instead of the drivel that was the early months of GMTV and that dire set.

Yes, how they had the nerve to call themselves 'Britain's brightest' when The Big Breakfast was on the other side wiping the floor with them...

Before the cartoons Simon Parkin would have his alarm alert slot for younger viewers he would make a wake- up call to a viewer and they had to say words The normal weekday alarm alert was like this Mondays we would find out what was happening in the soaps Tuesdays mean music Wednesdays What's hot what's not Thursdays early morning computer games news from Bad Influence's Violet Berlin Fridays previewing the home video and cinema releases that is all they information you would need to survive until Saturday

2:50 - 40 hour week like an MP does? Bullshit. As Jim Hacker from Yes Prime Minister said about MPs, "being an MP is a vast subsidised ego trip. It is a job for which you need no qualifications; there are no compulsory hours of work, no performance standards. You get a warm room and subsidised meals for a bunch of self-opinionated windbags and busybodies. And suddenly find people taking them seriously because they have got the letters MP after their names. How can they be underpaid? There are about 200 applicants for every vacancy. You could fill every seat 20 times over even if they had to pay to do the job."
