Jimmy Reis: Road to Recovery

Jimmy Reis was admitted to the Rehabilitation Hospital of the Pacific (REHAB) after suffering three strokes and a heart attack in 2022. As a firefighter who was always active and full of energy, coming to terms with his new mental and physical limitations was challenging. But with time, determination and support from Team REHAB, his family and community, Jimmy was able to get to a place where he could live his life again. Jimmy shares:
“Life can change in a second like ours did. I’m so grateful this happened to me. My relationship with Kehau [my wife] has grown so much in the last two years. I have a renewed sense of compassion for people, especially hurting people, and life is much more precious to me now. It’s worth all the pain and suffering I went through, still go through. If my story can inspire any of that in other people, I’m all for it.”
