I recommend being cautious with asking what the day of the week is or the exact date. That question is harder than it sounds, as we often don’t know what the day of the week/date is. If they are close and they get the right year, that works for right now. Additionally, if it’s early January and they give last year's year, that works too. Basically, if it’s a mistake anyone could make, accept the answer unless they gave other worrying answers.
The altered mental status could actually be the cause for the fall in many cases (for example, in a stroke and other neurovascular conditions) rather than the altered mental status being caused by the fall.
While this is true he already checked eyes no slurred speech no drooping even while smiled and can't check arm drift at which point points towards a head injury and not a stroke

Can you picture that in a courtroom? "I wanted to help, but the guy in the training video kept calling out to someone in a plaid shirt and I didn't see anyone with one on! I didn't know what to do!" 😄😄
Yes. When I did first aid training we used training masks with valves that let air out of the side instead of going into the mask. So probably a similar thing here.
We have stairs in our school. I always worry about how easily the involved person can be injured. The injury can occur quickly. If a tumble can be worse than sliding down on our rear.
The video starts with the person already laying straight on his back with the body aligned. What if the person has landed in an awkward body position? Do I place him like in the video?
no. If a neck injury is suspected, the cervical spine has to be stabilized before moving the body position, which is hard to do without neck bracelets and a helping hand. Best to keep the person at the original position
@@ttfun4421 Move him only if the person is not breathing normal (gasping or not breathing at all) and try to move him in one 'block' (best done with 2 or more). call (911 or 112 in EU) than start Cpr. Bloodflow (circulation) is more important than the spine injury. (please correct me if anything would be wrong)
@@arthursnoeck Yes that's correct. What I meant was keep the patient in his/her original position, check pulse and breathing and airway, then decide on the next move. Unless the original position hinders giving basic life support, no need to move the body.
I have a similar question. What if i find a person at the bottom of the stairs unconscious, unresponsive, no pulse or breathing, they are on their side or even prone. Would I move them to start CPR or wait until EMS/second person comes
Sometimes without bleeding out is the most dangerous spinal injury even though the patient could explain that he or she is feel ok but still needs to see doctor and be treated as though have outer bleeding, with this I'm stand to be corrected though, just a comment.
if youre alone just do straight compressions but if you need to oxygenate you can use the head tilt chin lift but very carefully. In a cardiac arrest they are already dead, and risking a c spin injury to ventilate is the correct way per National Registry.

I dont see injuries. Not at all.
These EMT videos are the greatest. Surprise it doesn't have more views. But it's very helpful
Outstanding demonstration and explanation!!! Thank you.
But what do I do if there is no one wearing a plaid shirt nearby???
That is when we go forward with plan b. Those in plaid pants/skirts/dresses 😉
Ignorant post of the day... Lmao

This is an excellent educational video, thank you!
I suffered a medical episode and fell down stairs and I was more worried about getting back to class because I was in my final year of school.
Thank you for your excellent videos
Dude in the plaid shirt is hurting all these people that's the only explanation
Holy cow! I never thought of that! The beggar is probably a lawyer, and is taking the cases after the clients are injured!
Is he blowing rescue breaths into the actual living guy, it does not look like a manikin in the end?😨

Of course. But as a last resort. Always try to ensure you have a second person to help and aid you!

I cant say for sure but I dont think youd have enough time between compressions to switch positions
