Sir this vedio was clear and easy to understand. Sir can you please say me that if a patient with carotid artery and sublingual artery damaged and results in heavy bleeding, in this condition what can we do to arrest bleeding before hospitalisation.
It really does PULSES out, just like in pictures. Wow. Kinda didn't believe it, until i saw it. And that was a lot of blood, by the looks of it. Although, i guess no, that wasn't that much - man was holding ok, wasn't pale. Hope he's made full recovery (he most probably did, i just don't know for sure) And that's how strong our heart's are. And they pump all day every single solitary day of your life. Damn we are strong, even the weakest of us.
Ok this is 3 yrs old but I’ve seen many of your vids. Good reminders…so how about this as a possible treatment Get the patient on their back put a knee on their brachial artery to stop the flow temporarily or slow it down Combat gauze, sweep out the injury with regular gauze. Put a knot in the combat gauze, wound pack to the end of the breach of the artery, build up a little bit of a mound outside, leave a tag end of the combat gauze sticking out so the hospital sees that there is wound packing in there it also has a metal strip that shows up on x-rays Then use a 6 inch Israeli bandage, wrap it around the wrist with the pressure bar over top of the injury encapsulate both top and bottom of the bandage and tighten it down and lock in with the closure bar. If that doesn’t work remove the closure bar and do a couple of turns under the bandage to turn the bandage into a tourniquet Let me know what you think on this I’d rather do this than use a tourniquet and I also Have a 3 inch tourniquet from an outfit call RevMedx in Oregon thanks for your time. Pardon any typos this is voice to text.
I was told by a doctor that the only case in which we apply a torniquete is when it's an artery bleeding. I understand from that that it was from the very beginning
0:01 *WHAT IF A MAJOR ARTERY IS SEVERED? (JUGULAR/CAROTID/FEMORAL/ ETC) Wouldn't you just force even more blood out? An example is the stabbing in Australia: Man was stabbed in his neck, bled *PROFUSELY! IMMEDIATELY!* Like a waterfall, patient then collapsed unconscious in JUST 12 SECONDS!!! Others have answered this saying that "Even if he was stabbed IN THE HOSPTAL, it wouldve been game over no matter what." Another person said packing the wound MIGHT give him a chance, but he was still likely to die regardless. So, what about CPR with compromised/severed major blood vessel?
Thank you so we just do that? What else do you do to prevent the cut from infections? I got a cut just few minutes ago I’m still crying and scared, is that it do we just do that?
Actually not really. But it sure does look like it. I had that much and more blood everywhere when the top of my foot got punctured with glass. It sure stunk too
Great explanation. I believe 911 should be called immediately in a heavy bleeding situation. I would not wait until more life-threatening symptoms arise.
Any reason why wound packing wasn't mentioned? In the military we were taught to pack the wound with hemostatic gauze before applying direct pressure with something like the ace bandage shown in the video. Is it because its not an approved practice in the civilian world?
Honestly, I think it's just risk of infection or the appropriate authorities (ER doctors) not being fully informed that the wound was packed, which may lead to further infection or other more serious complications. Our bodies don't really deal with organic intruders that well.
I’m still wondering why a tourniquet wasn’t used. That’s a lot of blood (yes I know it’s staged bleeding) but if I saw that shot coming out it would be a tourniquet and some combat gauze.
I had the top part of my foot punctured with glass earlier...it was pulsating and shooting warn red blood out. Scared the life outta me...almost. plus I take aspirin. It kept bleeding through and bleeding through even though I had the food elevated way up. Thank goodness my husband got home to help and I was a medic! AND HAD STIPLING POWDER, bandages and 4X4's! It was SCARY because there was blood everywhere and it started to smell like a dialysis clinic REAL FAST! I AM NOT going to a hospital during these times!!! NOPE!
But like... Is there a way you could do it witouth blood? Like I'm watching this just in case, cuz the bullies in our class are literally psycos...one of them broke 2... YES 2 people's legs then started laughing... And then what did he do? Push another classmate, him hitting his back on the concrete, he wasn't hurt but still (out of character)
Especially the tourniquet issue. Nobody talks about that and every papercut gets a tourniquet. I'm sure more than anyone wants to think, plenty of things had to cut off after being slightly cut when they didn't have to be due to sheer lack of education.
-Apply direct pressure +++ add bandages if it leaks through. -Wrap it from the distal point. (Twist and hold it). Watch 💅 nail bed. -Tourniquet only for DELAYED RESPONSE>10-15mn, life threatening and can't be controlled ‼
usually these types of saws have these safety locks which can stop as soon as they touch some sort of meet, idk what they're called but it's really cool!
This look real. But tbh it is not the pain, sometimes we take pririty and pain won't matter at all. The patient will not even care when they see strong bleeding.
@@NickolasSharp08 I am looking for the "helper's" perspektive lol. Sometimes pain is not what matters, there are more important stuff like keeping the bleeding under control etc.
I have to respectfully disagree with the instructions in this video. A tourniquet would be my first go to response for almost all arterial bleeds. Way too much caution being emphasized in this video regarding tourniquets. You would think that 5 mins or more could result in a needless amputation from watching this video when in fact studies have proven time and time again that you can leave one on for a maximum of two hours. I would shoot for no more than 1 hour out of an abundance of caution but either way its more than enough time to get to a hospital. People watching this video are going to spend too much time worrying about cutting off blood flow for too long and could end up allowing the bleed to persist. Either way, some treatment is better than none. I just dont get which scientific reports the anti-tourniquet crowds are reading. Am I missing one that showed improper techniques are resulting in more damage. Good luck all.
These are by far the best instructions I found on RUclips. Thank you so much!

If you make it very tight you may cause a tourniquet. (Causing ischemia to the distal parts)! That's why we watch the nail bed coloration.
Thanks for the video! Definitely something people need to know about and how to perform during unpredictable circumstances.

So replace his hand with a bandage. Have him reapply pressure. Changes bandages as needed. Sit them down. Use tourniquet for longer response delays.
No, don't change bandages, just add another on top.

You can leave tourniquets on for hours before doing any real damage. There's really no reason not to put a tourniquet on, better safe than sorry.
