Mirage was originally born as an expansion for Valhalla and it shows. They do seem to have tweaked the engine a little bit like lighting changes and whole new assets but it never feels like a new big budget game and inherits some of it's graphical shortcomings like the complete lack of momentum in animations or less than stellar NPC models. It simply builds up from the downgraded Odyssey engine. Origins did some exceptional things within it's engine specially skin shading, lighting, physics and sand effects that were quite specific to the desert biome, lots of these effects where removed/altered in Odyssey to increase visual variety and to have more stable performance which if you think about it has been the norm in AC series development cycle; a first introductory game with a new experimental engine that gets usually streamlined in succesive titles, from AC1 to 2 and from Unity to Syndicate and these all were bigger budget games. Probably the best way to judge Mirage would be AC4 - Rogue.
Mirage looks slightly better in most areas, but slightly worse in a few. In general Mirage is probably using a lot of assets from Valhalla and and they’re pretty on par. The biggest difference seems to be the higher contrast on Valhalla.
Mirage was normally going to come out as a DLC of Valhalla, then they released it like a new game. Both games are the same, but Mirage is a more limited version in many ways.
@@jesse4884incorrect everything about Mirage is a colossal improvement from Parkour, to cutscenes, to combat, story, setting etc. I am loving this game so much. It's a 25 hour long game like previous assassins creed games with an emphasis on stealth and story telling. Yes it's on a restrictive engine like Valhalla but they did an incredible job with what they had. The game is complete and it's own thing, it just started as dlc and was greenlit as it's own game. It does, his original outfit has many parts which are made out of some hard and thick cloth that's why Ubisoft didn't give them enough physics. If you will wear Ezio's Revelations outfits, Altair's outfits or any other flexible outfits, they have proper cloth physics.
I saw mirage gameplay can’t wait to get it. Finally going back the way things used to be no more this magical overpowering being. And finally the execution style of killing enemies. Mirage is definitely the better game. Hated origins and hated odysseys and didn’t even get Valhalla cause it looked the same overpowering bullshit. AC brother hood, AC 3, and black flag were the best ones loved countering with the hidden blade. Countering and seeing the way these assassins executed their enemies. Loved the old ways of the combat mechanics. Mirage is just that. Love it

As good as Valhalla might be, having now cloth physics for a next gen game was disappointing and so hard to turn a blind eye to when trying to enjoy the game (couldn't bring myself to getting past the beginning due to it).
Completely agree! It’s an improvement in every way, yes they used the same engine as Valhalla but even though valhalla sucked the engine was fine, this time they actually made a good game with that engine
I thought valhalla was awful tbh. After playing Odyssey, the mechanics were a massive backward step. Combat was clunky and that stamina feature was so frustrating!
Mirage has less combat elements but its more focused and "stable" whereas Valhalla has more weapons like a bow for example and duel wielding swords and such

@gtxtesting6143 Brooo thr fire looks like shit.
there is already. look it up
Haven't seen a single technical improvement since origins
Im not sure why they didn't use origin's sand footprints, they used Valhalla's snow footprints which seems bizzare
