Husqvarna 22-inch Lawn Mower Tune Up (Oil Change, Filter, Spark Plug)
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 26 фев 2019
- Before I start working in the yard in the spring time, I make sure to tune up my lawn mower. In this video I do an oil change, inspect the filter, and replace the spark plug. I had already previously sharpened the blades last fall at the end of the mowing season.
Tuning up the mower is an inexpensive and easy process that should be done annually.

If you run the mower for a few minutes it will help with draining the oil. You don't have to move the handles the way you did to drain the oil. Most engines take 20oz of 10w-30 oil. For the manual scan the QR code on the top/front of the mower for the manual and specifics on the mower. Good job from a Small Engine Repair Tech.
Lightweight is good and what did I use it for it’s a lawnmower ruclips.net/user/postUgkxTPN04aT-Qdjr_KS3ql7ng8wnU3wwsCqk also recommend Yes it is lightweight so hence not as robust as our old one. But if you take care it does the job really well.
Great video. I have the same exact lawn mower and happy to find someone who took the time to make this. Thank you!!
It helped me out. I plan on buying a used one
Awesome video! Thanks for posting
Lol I was looking for a plug too. Wow learn something new everyday!
jeez, I was looking for the drain plug too. i despise this lawn mower.. but Thanks for the video!
Saw someone else use a 4X4 to lean the side on. Seemed to work very well.
The video is definitely helpful. Thanks.
Thank you Mate for this fantastic video 👍🏼
You bet! Thanks for watching!
Very helpful! Many thanks!
nice video!
Everything brand new boy 😂
Thanks. I was looking for an oil drain plug
Wish I could say it existed! Glad I could help. Thanks for watching.
I’m can on
Thought I had this same model but mines the LC725EX check&Add motor so no oil changes I had no idea that was a thing
The owner's manual for a Husqvarna HU 700 H says that the oil capacity is 18.56 oz. I changed my oil today and it took only 12 oz of new oil to reach the fill level on the dip stick. The old oil did not look like 18.56 oz so I refilled slowly and checked the dip stick several times as I refilled. This is a Honda engine and if I had put in 18.56 oz it would have been way overfilled.
Great post! Thank you!
Thank you
Brand new one
This video is getting me look forward to the spring here in N.H. I don't understand why lawn mowers don't have convenient oil drain plugs. I have a Honda and it does have a drain plug but it is almost like draining it right from the fill port like yours so the the drain plug doesn't really help much.
Ya draining the oil is probably the most annoying as far as maintenance goes. I'm looking at upgrading to a Toro Timemaster, and it's the same story. Gotta tip it over.
Jimmy Lewis they make pumps that remove the oil from small engines. They’re pretty dang affordable too! I’m looking into picking one up this season so I don’t have to tip my timemaster over.
RVA Lawn Love I'll have to look into that, especially since I'm probably upgrading to the Timemaster. If you pick one up I'd be curious to know your thoughts.
They do it so you don't maintain it and buy another lawn mower.
I use a disposable foil pan for draining the oil so i can drain it easier
thanks bro.
Unsure why, but the Husq manual instructions state the engine should be tilted backwards, with the sparkplug pointing upright, to drain the oil.
I needed help with my push mower.
I've never personally changed the oil on my mower. This is a great instructional video, thank you!
Happy I could help. Thanks for watching!
Ha I was thinking the same exact thing, I’ve never actually pumped or tipped any push mower, just top off with quality oil. Your more worried about burn off then the oil breaking down.
Good video but how much oil did it actually take
What model mower is this and how much oil did you end up using?
Thank you for this, I almost paid someone $45 to change my spark plug
How tight do I tore my head bolts on a Husqvarna push mower LC 2281 6.75 horsepower
Thanks, is that a cement floor in your shop or natural stone Jerry? My concern is when I pour oil past the "add" mark. Is this OK or should I drain I off the excess?
It's a cement floor. If the oil is just past the the max line I probably wouldn't worry about it. If you really overfilled it, then I would just grab a turkey baster and suck out the excess.
That engine for stroke or 2 ?
2 questions (I don't know where you live):
- Why didn't you change the oil in the fall? It's better for the engine to sit for extended periods with clean oil than dirty. Ask any boat owner.
- Did you let the engine run so the oil flows easier?
aguyandhiscomputer I didn't change the oil in the fall because I had other things going on and couldn't get to it. And I didn't run it before hand. Appreciate the advice though. Will remember that for next time. Thanks for watching.
@@JimmyLewisMows ok, makes sense. With 3 kids, I've been there, a lot :) Thanks for the reply.
He had a Washington state car license plate on the wall.
@@odyseygolfer That could work. Although some people collect plates. Or he could have moved from there. But good eye.
How did you keep your mower so clean?
I will wash it off a couple times throughout the season.
I hope this isn't a silly question, but is the correct gap on the spark plug already set when you buy it?
If I bought a new mower and was experiencing issues with it starting, it would be one of the things I look at.
how do I ask for the spark plugs and what kind of oil do I need
Refer to your owners manual for both of those. You can pick up a spark plug at the Home Depot. They are usually stocked near the lawn equipment. I also like to use the full synthetic oil.
Either check the part number on the plug that's already in the engine. Or, they make rune-up kits and it comes with an NGK BPR6ES 4008
How can i look up parts for this brand mower? Can they be ordered on amazon?
Yes
What was the weight of the oil you used?
This was Briggs and Stratton SAE 30 oil (shown at 4:53). On my new mower I use Mobil1 10W-30 (ruclips.net/video/uXbxycitWNE/видео.html)
Jimmy Lewis thank you
Is there no oil filter to replace?
No
Always check the gap on the spark plug before you install
Why?
I'm trying to learn how to do all this. Any info is helpful, thanks.
@@willi6880 I can’t speak for all models, but the plugs that fit my mower are gapped at the factory, which is convenient. If they aren’t pre-gapped though, you’ll definitely need to check the specs for your mower and set the gap accordingly.
You can turn the gas off also
If you call Husqvarna they will email you the manual and IPL as well
400ml for the oil
I don't think the background music was gay enough.
That's not how you change oil
Avion b Husqvarna shows this exact same way on how to change their oil. Watch this video by them: ruclips.net/video/OFPh5eZDswI/видео.html
Without a drain plug there isn't many options unfortunately.
Mark out new holes and drill them
Very helpful, thank you!
