- The new winter wheels and tires came in for the 2009 Chevrolet Tahoe, just in time for the first snow of the season. These wheels and tires look great, perform well for the winter and came in on a budget.

Nokian Tyres - its TOP in Siberia. Only we love with thorns))
Love that you call them thorns. I will forever think of that from now on. Studs weren't so big a thing in that part of the east coast, but definitely more suited for Montana.
just got a set of nordman 7 for my 08 mustang, i love winter :D
Especially in a Mustang :-)
There awesome I need to get some
How them tires end up performing in snow/ice?
Still going strong, just put them back on for the season. Great in both. We get ice and they're fine. However, if we drove more in icy weather or had a lot of ice I'd probably recommend getting them studded.
Can you give an update on those wheels? I’m thinking about getting them and they seem like a great budget wheel. Any word?
The wheels are still going strong. I still have the nokians on them and about to swap for a third winter. I sold the off road tires on the same wheels for money and space when moving but I actually bought another set of the black Rock 997 and put some Yokohama geolanders on them for my wife's summer wheels. So we still run two sets on the tahoe. I put a similar looking wheel by American racing on my ram, Baja's I think they're called. Although they're thicker and not exactly the same. Both have done plenty of dirt roads and bumps and lots of miles without any issue so far. I've just found that some shops had to use a lot of weights to balance but another shop didn't have issue so I'm going to blame they didn't mount the tire in the correct orientation with the valve stem. Although certainly not expecting zero wheel weights on cheap truck rims so it's not a big deal. I hope this helps. P.s. depending on the size and offset you may need to clearance the bumper side of the wheel well a little. I also put a 2" level on the front as well which does help if you're running a larger than stock tire and deeper offset like I am here.
Awesome loved the end results..
Question if I lifted my Tahoe 2 inches just in the front should I or not lift the back so they can balance out when I add this tires on?? Any one Please help..
Hey Rosie! I put a 2" level on the front of this Tahoe this past winter and it works great. My wife (this is her truck) is running a little larger tire now and they rub at full lock on the washer fluid tank, but the 2" level looks great and affords more room for wheels and tires. You shouldn't need to lift the back as stock they come a little raked towards the front (rear higher than the front). This truck has the air bag auto level so I'm not sure if it compensates so it looks a little like the front is higher than the back but not bad at all. 2" level for the front is supposed to do just that, level the truck front and back.
What size tire is your wife running now? Is it larger than the 265/70/R17 in this video? I ask because I just purchased the same setup (265/70/R17) you have in this video, and I’m hoping that when I add my 2” leveling kit that I won’t have to trim anything. Thanks for any help/insight you can provide.
Why did the stock tire size rub?
I think they were the stock diameter but if I remember correctly a little wider. Plus, the wheels were a bigger offset.
These tires were great. We used them every season up until Spring 2023 when we finally sold the Tahoe. I trusted these so much I went with studded Nokian Hakkapeliitta's for the Transit. Here's a driving impressions video: ruclips.net/video/mrXghQVBBn4/видео.html
After 3 months on for the winter. And 4th snow storm and salt. Starting to get a little rust so that's disappointing but for a cheap wheels i can't complain.
Yeah, my hub caps tend to get the rock chips and rust from dings when putting on the lug nuts. I'd agree, not bad for the money, but touching up the center caps at least seems to be inevitable. The salt will do it. I don't live in a salted area anymore otherwise I'd probably be in the same position.
That's not a snow "Storm". That's a dusting. I drove my Chevy Volt thru the 9 inches fresh fallen snow we got in Michigan this November on 75% tread All Season tires with No problem at all. No slippage. Cool and I just bought a blazer so the info old relevant but the whole thing is overkill if that's all you get. Nice truck though !!!
I couldn't call up a blizzard on demand. Don't get electrocuted with your Volt! Tires perform great in our Montana winters now, so definitely worth it. Thanks about the truck!
God nless u too. Truck look great
Looks good, you can bend the fender liner a bit with a heat gun for additional space.
Thanks! I ended up putting the 2" level on the front and I don't remember what is shown in the video, but i did massage and cut some of the inner fenders.
I have the same exact truck! Did you noticed a height difference or no? And was the rubbing bad without cutting?
Awesome, we still have it. It's great, getting close to 200k on it and going strong. I don't remember the height difference but I think there may be some. You can run a search for tire size calculator and plug in the tire dimensions and see if they're taller or not. Likely only 1/2" if the diameter is an 1" bigger. Because of the offset there was some rubbing at full lock on the lower fender liner and lower bumper and I believe the washer reservoir. I put a 2" leveling kit on the front (basically big spacer for the shocks) and that combined with a little trimming and there's no issue anymore. A lesser backspaced wheel, closer to stock, would eliminate that.
Awesome brother. The wheels came in last week and i decided on Arturo trailblade tire's. Just had the wheels and tires mounted this morning and plan on putting them on my Yukon in a few days. Perfect for those Northeast winters we usually get.
Supposed to be a bad one this year!
If i don't wanna cut the fender liners what size should I buy ? Thanks for the video .
Stock size or you could probably go close to the same size just with no offset. The negative offset pushes out the arc a bit.
like where you put the light bar.
Thank you!! I thought It fit nice, was discreet, bolted up to factory holes with the other cooler mounts and some L brackets from the hardware store.
How would these things perform off road in dry/wet conditions? This company has some of the only 265/55r19 winter tires that exist. I own a VW touareg and love my 19” wheels but want to get a little better all purpose tire. To my knowledge there are no AT’s in that size and really want that size because my 275/45r19’s look so sweet and I don’t want to make them too much thinner.
I know a winter tire is like... for winter, and they can be loud/not great in dry conditions and high speeds. But the same is kind of true of AT’s, and I literally just want a little bigger tire/sidewall that looks aggressive and has like 20% more traction than street tires, that I can leave on all the time whether I’m on or off road. Could a winter tire do the trick? The Nokian R3’s look sweet. I have zero experience with winter/snow tires.
These specifically winter tires performed well in all conditions up to about 50 degrees or so ambient when you could tell the compound was soft and tires would wear faster. I actually still have them on a set of wheels but don't plan on using them this season as I put some Pirelli tires on my wife's truck last summer that should be good in all conditions and road types. However, if they don't do well in ice, the Nokians are going back on.
Is your truck lowered? I don’t see how you rubbed when people run 275/55/20 with no issues.
Nope, it's the negative offset.
I just got a 07 tahoe and I’m in Canada, you think I should get these?
Congrats! It's a great truck. Ours is nearing 200k miles and still going strong. I love the Nordman 7's. We're running the same set this year. They perform great on snow and ice. If you do a lot of ice driving I'd suggest studding them. We don't drive too often in the ice so they've been fine. I'd buy again, personally. Hope that helps! If you're going with the same wheel/tire combo I'd suggest putting on the 2" level kit in front, which I did sometime after this video. Truck looks great and works great with both.
@@WildMountainGarage mine is completely stock. My dad passed away a few weeks ago so I’m taking it over and I want to do a few things to it. Thank you for the quick reply Lol I wasn’t sure if you would
@@xSLIINKx Oh man, I'm really sorry to hear about your dad. Will pray for your family. I'm glad you have the truck to remember him by! If you're looking for snow tires, they're great!
@@WildMountainGarage haha I forgot I already commented. I bought the black rock 997s ! I love them, I just don’t know how to go about getting allseasons since it’s just starting to get warmer here in Alberta. Would it be bad to run the nordmans in the summer?
What would you recommend for all seasons or summer tires ?
Good question. I'll be looking into new ones this spring. I had run some Yokohama Geolander ATs and found they wore really fast and were slippery in the wet.
@@WildMountainGarage love that geolander tread. Let me know what ya find !
Well, how were those babies in the snow? Are you happy with them?
They are great
Nokian tires are amazing. I was a dealer for them. They actually invented the winter tire. I WILL NOT buy a different snow tire ever again. My wifes car is horrible in the snow. I put on a set of Nokian R2 on it. Completely different car.
Is your tahoe 4x4?
Yes. Still going strong with nearly 200k miles.
Looks good! Question did u take the panels off the side of the doors or did it come like that? I want to take mines off but im afraid i may mess it up
Somehow I didn't see this comment, sorry! probably pointless now to reply, but I took them off with a heat gun and used some solvent to get the remaining adhesive off.
looks good. was that set up on stock height?
Thanks! Yes. There was some minor rub on the front fender liners, but I cut out the bottom half of the front liner and notched the inner bottom bumper. I bought a rough country 2" lift/leveling kit to bring the front up to match the rear and give it more of a lift in the front, but I had issue getting the upper control arm off without a fork. I'm going to try again for looks and extra clearance but it's fine as is. It only rubs on the inner fender at full lock. Anything larger and you would need to do a full nor Cal cut (search RUclips, custom offsets has a good video).
1:22 was that a coca cola zero as drink of choice for the tire swap!? I liked the video.
Zero Sugar that is.... you'd think they'd sponsor me by now, no? Thanks for watching and commenting.
Shoulda had a beer.
Get big rolling power tires
Honestly had these on my pickup even with almost 300lbs of sand still terrible I expected better from a brand like Nokian
That stinks. These lasted up until this year and I just sold them.
Tires yes.
Offset No.
I was expecting a test run, what a waste.
IDK What you'd tell by watching me drive. BUT, that being said, test run was fine and we ran this same set every year up through this past winter. I just sold the Tahoe in May 2023.
Also, I did a driving video: ruclips.net/video/mrXghQVBBn4/видео.html
