I think what tiff said was a good advice especially for teens or people that are still in the process of finding themselves it's really reckless to go into a relationship without having some kind of stability from yourself. You can't fully love someone if you can't love yourself > it's very hard to keep relationships when you don't love yourself, most of them fail.

I relate to Tiff, not the relationship part but the pressure of discovering what you are going to do in life. I am facing the same thing right now...although I'm not in the same time and place as Tiff, I'm a Junior, leading into Senior year and we are already pressured to choose what course we need and want to tale in College. I don't even know what College I will try to attend. I don't know what I want to do. I need to look into it more...but I feel lost. Now, I'm also in a serious relationship with my childhood bestfriend. And...we are currently long distanced. Mike and Tiff's relationship really hits me back with me and my boyfriend. Although I'm a Junior in high school, I don't know what I want to do for College. And I'm like Tiff. I don't know what to do for my future, other than prioritizing and caring about my relationship with my boyfriend. For him, he has everything planned. He's already in College as he already graduated early in high school and is taking courses and already plans his future with his own house, car, and even taking care of his own family...he plans on being with me for the future. I just realized I've been on both sides of their situations before. When I was like mike, resenting someone for not being ambitious enough I felt like such a shitty person. And then when I was at Tiff's stage where I relaxed and just wanting to do things at my own pace, I fully understand how defeating and stressful it feels to have someone you love judge and pressure you like that.

Honestly I totally feel mike. I constantly felt like I had to push my ex to do more and when he wouldnt I would resent him more and more. Every day Id ask him if he studied or what was his next step and looking from his perspective that was probably super frustrating and annoying. Unfortunately its not my job to push my partner to be more ambitious, it’s their job alone and if they dont want to help themselves then how can I? Omg I was in a similar position as tiff as someone saw me as unachieving when they didn't understand the timeline I had wasn't like the typical grind entrepreneur quick. Its a sad feeling because you know its out of good will, but you can't help it feels like- they're forcing you to be better because they deem u not enough, when your mind automatically just wants to enjoy time with em. In a way it was like, why do I have to prove my dreams to you? And so, it becomes less motivating to tell them your achievements in the fear it isnt enough for them. Any relationship should grow together, but its important to stand in anothers perspective and know how to help them in their style instead of forcing. Sort of like love languages, like some people may need a verbal reminder and some people may need a hand to explore interests ( like encouraging them to sell their art vs you should go find a job). But im glad it ended the way it did because you guys both seem to have matured from stepping back :). 💕

Tiff I totally relate to that feeling of your bf overanalyzing your professional life because he thinks it's helpful. So since we're both at the same medical school, he used to only ask me about school like how many hours of lectures I covered, how many practice questions I finished, or calling me lazy if I was behind, and I would just feel like crap because I was already stressed out/studying ~10 hrs/day. Anyways, I told him one day to stop criticizing me and to let me handle my own life if he really cared about me and that saved our relationship.

I have dated an ex before with about a 1.5 year gap before we dated again (I was also with another girl in between for few months). Weird enough, our relationship was much stronger the 2nd time around and we loved each other a lot more. We did more things together, but like all relationships that are like this, the same problems will arise and you'll see what broke y'all the first time. So we end up breaking up for good. At that time, it pained me way more than the first time we broke up. I could barely eat for a week, cried a lot, just simply couldn't believe what happened. But yeah, I learned not to overlook the problems I've had with my past relationships which is something a lot of people tend to do after a break up. This is all behind me now, I've long been fine and recovered from it :)

At that part where Mike was talking about future stuff is where I became so related with. I feel like most Chinese men really focus on having a view in the future. My ex was also like this. For me, Tiff was right that maybe it was the subconscious mind that has been thinking about this resentfulness and it was only when you pushed the person to talk things through is when they realize that it was the reason why they are acting this way to you. It is actually not toxic but I guess lack of being transparent is also the problem. I am also not a needy person, I am happy even when my ex could give a bare minimum time and I never wanted to be a hinder to his personal life but feeling neglected is what makes a person give up too. It's really hard to maintain a relationship when you are both at a life stage that is confusing. I was always asked what were my plans in the future, checking and checking if ours could be aligned. I've been with my boyfriend for 8.5 years now (3.5 year long distance, 5 years living together) and it's getting harder and harder to break up, lol. My boyfriend and I are really different when it comes to what we want for our future, but we're both too stubborn to break up. We talk about our differences and then it goes no where because my boyfriend is extremely stubborn and unwilling to compromise. But I can't see my life without him though. It's gone too far, lol.

Got this randomly recommended like 2 years later, wanted to comment bc I feel for Tiff. Having your partner crunch down on you at the same time your parents do is rough. One coworker I talked to recently spoke about how he recognized those signs of stress and frustration building up in him and changed jobs as to not subject his partner to his own struggles. I just randomly found you guys and this is the first video I can realistically comment on....but I think what I learned most about a relationship is not just communication, trust etc...but is understanding one another. That’s because I was Tiff and I ABSOLUTELY had no idea what to do in my early twenties and even late twenties. All the guys I use to date didn’t understand that but when I found my bf he pushed me (not stressed me out) motivated me, and supported me on whatever I wanted to do. I had a similar situation with Tiff, I didn’t know what to do with my life and also I like living kinda slow, and taking time for myself. My boyfriend hated that indecisive aspect of me. He wanted me to be done with school asap and start working to support ourselves. Its not like I made him pay for anything, I was working enough to pay my portion of the rent and buy groceries. Even making enough to help him out when he doesnt have enough money.But I was not succeeding in school and was lost in what I want to become. Another thing is that, I wanted to be a mostly home maker after I have kids because I grew up with a single mother who had to work everyday. And also I am super into psychology and kids. Anyways, it turns out he needed a partner who would work along with him and bring in money because he did not want to stress about making ends meet and also he wanted to retire sooner. So in his mind, he wanted a strong, practical and money making wife, who did not waste anytime. I was and still am the total opposite of it, and so we parted our ways after 4 years. The relationship was toxic because he wasnt satisfied with my “performance” and he often cheated lied and flirted with other girls which made me more insecure and depressed. It became harder and harder to look for what I want because i was so relationship focused where the relationship was his least priority. He just didnt take me seriously, and did not respect me. I have spent my years trying to change myself, but it was as if though I was trying to get out of swamp by moving, i was sinking more and more. It definitely is very important to be compatible and know what you want from a relationship. Moving too quick and getting bonded with the wrong person is a huge mistake that most of us inevitably do especially if it is our first real relationship or we are young :(

I get that the humor is probably for comedic relief, but given the more serious nature of the topic on breakups, it's definitely a more sensitive and personal matter to both Mike/Tiff. I just realized I've been on both sides of their situations before. When I was like mike, resenting someone for not being ambitious enough I felt like such a shitty person. And then when I was at Tiff's stage where I relaxed and just wanting to do things at my own pace, I fully understand how defeating and stressful it feels to have someone you love judge and pressure you like that.

Honestly I totally feel mike. I constantly felt like I had to push my ex to do more and when he wouldnt I would resent him more and more. Every day Id ask him if he studied or what was his next step and looking from his perspective that was probably super frustrating and annoying. Unfortunately its not my job to push my partner to be more ambitious, it’s their job alone and if they dont want to help themselves then how can I? Omg I was in a similar position as tiff as someone saw me as unachieving when they didn't understand the timeline I had wasn't like the typical grind entrepreneur quick.
Its a sad feeling because you know its out of good will, but you can't help it feels like- they're forcing you to be better because they deem u not enough, when your mind automatically just wants to enjoy time with em. In a way it was like, why do I have to prove my dreams to you? And so, it becomes less motivating to tell them your achievements in the fear it isnt enough for them.
Any relationship should grow together, but its important to stand in anothers perspective and know how to help them in their style instead of forcing. Sort of like love languages, like some people may need a verbal reminder and some people may need a hand to explore interests ( like encouraging them to sell their art vs you should go find a job).
But im glad it ended the way it did because you guys both seem to have matured from stepping back :). 💕

Tiff I totally relate to that feeling of your bf overanalyzing your professional life because he thinks it's helpful. So since we're both at the same medical school, he used to only ask me about school like how many hours of lectures I covered, how many practice questions I finished, or calling me lazy if I was behind, and I would just feel like crap because I was already stressed out/studying ~10 hrs/day. Anyways, I told him one day to stop criticizing me and to let me handle my own life if he really cared about me and that saved our relationship.

I have dated an ex before with about a 1.5 year gap before we dated again (I was also with another girl in between for few months). Weird enough, our relationship was much stronger the 2nd time around and we loved each other a lot more. We did more things together, but like all relationships that are like this, the same problems will arise and you'll see what broke y'all the first time. So we end up breaking up for good. At that time, it pained me way more than the first time we broke up. I could barely eat for a week, cried a lot, just simply couldn't believe what happened. But yeah, I learned not to overlook the problems I've had with my past relationships which is something a lot of people tend to do after a break up. This is all behind me now, I've long been fine and recovered from it :)

At that part where Mike was talking about future stuff is where I became so related with. I feel like most Chinese men really focus on having a view in the future. My ex was also like this. For me, Tiff was right that maybe it was the subconscious mind that has been thinking about this resentfulness and it was only when you pushed the person to talk things through is when they realize that it was the reason why they are acting this way to you. It is actually not toxic but I guess lack of being transparent is also the problem. I am also not a needy person, I am happy even when my ex could give a bare minimum time and I never wanted to be a hinder to his personal life but feeling neglected is what makes a person give up too. It's really hard to maintain a relationship when you are both at a life stage that is confusing. I was always asked what were my plans in the future, checking and checking if ours could be aligned. Sometimes I wished reality was not like this and that life can be easily understood. Maybe then we didn't also need to break up.

I've been with my boyfriend for 8.5 years now (3.5 year long distance, 5 years living together) and it's getting harder and harder to break up, lol. My boyfriend and I are really different when it comes to what we want for our future, but we're both too stubborn to break up. We talk about our differences and then it goes no where because my boyfriend is extremely stubborn and unwilling to compromise. But I can't see my life without him though. It's gone too far, lol.

Got this randomly recommended like 2 years later, wanted to comment bc I feel for Tiff. Having your partner crunch down on you at the same time your parents do is rough. One coworker I talked to recently spoke about how he recognized those signs of stress and frustration building up in him and changed jobs as to not subject his partner to his own struggles. I just randomly found you guys and this is the first video I can realistically comment on....but I think what I learned most about a relationship is not just communication, trust etc...but is understanding one another. That’s because I was Tiff and I ABSOLUTELY had no idea what to do in my early twenties and even late twenties. All the guys I use to date didn’t understand that but when I found my bf he pushed me (not stressed me out) motivated me, and supported me on whatever I wanted to do. I wish the best for you two finding the one to motivate you and supports your growth.
I had a similar situation with Tiff, I didn’t know what to do with my life and also I like living kinda slow, and taking time for myself. My boyfriend hated that indecisive aspect of me. He wanted me to be done with school asap and start working to support ourselves. Its not like I made him pay for anything, I was working enough to pay my portion of the rent and buy groceries. Even making enough to help him out when he doesnt have enough money.But I was not succeeding in school and was lost in what I want to become. Another thing is that, I wanted to be a mostly home maker after I have kids because I grew up with a single mother who had to work everyday. And also I am super into psychology and kids. Anyways, it turns out he needed a partner who would work along with him and bring in money because he did not want to stress about making ends meet and also he wanted to retire sooner. So in his mind, he wanted a strong, practical and money making wife, who did not waste anytime.
I was and still am the total opposite of it, and so we parted our ways after 4 years. The relationship was toxic because he wasnt satisfied with my “performance” and he often cheated lied and flirted with other girls which made me more insecure and depressed. It became harder and harder to look for what I want because i was so relationship focused where the relationship was his least priority. He just didnt take me seriously, and did not respect me. I have spent my years trying to change myself, but it was as if though I was trying to get out of swamp by moving, i was sinking more and more.
It definitely is very important to be compatible and know what you want from a relationship. Moving too quick and getting bonded with the wrong person is a huge mistake that most of us inevitably do especially if it is our first real relationship or we are young :(

I think the way that Mike and Tiff handled their break up is so mature, but why are Sheldon and Edward trying so hard to get us to ship? I get that the humor is probably for comedic relief, but given the more serious nature of the topic on breakups, it's definitely a more sensitive and personal matter to both Mike/Tiff. Also, considering past videos and seeing how well Mike and Tiff get along, we definitely ship their relationship as viewers. It makes you wonder that if they can handle the breakup so maturely, surely they can handle improving themselves and rebuilding their relationship from where it went wrong.
