Not a glitch. A "feature" of sorts. The animation of the attacking creature smacking into the opponent but bouncing off uselessly? That has to play for every single creature individually. As in, they have to play the animation. One. At. A. Time. So freakin annoying, but if you have any deck that creates a lot of creatures, like Scute Swarm and you have them attack while the opponent is under a "take no damage to life points" effect? You will time out every time. Had the same exact thing happen to me, so I had to juat stop attacking until I vould get rid of the effect (which, odlf couse, I couldn't). That game lasted forever.
@@GrugGangGrugGang Yeah and now every other random deck is playing Teferi's Protection because of it. I've run against this trash "feature" vs Mill, Elves and Waste Not so far. Decks that definitely didn't play white before.
I had this slow animation happen recently when I attacked with a lot of Scute Swarms. When my timer ran down I didn't lose. In fact, my opponent's timer started running and forced them to use all their timer extensions. Then the game finally gave up and skipped the remaining animations. Of course they untapped and had Farewell and went on to win.
@@Blu_Moon_Owl While true, I must admit my comment was more along the lines of a stealth insult since while Elves *can* get rolling, they too often *don't* and just as often have to overcommit only to get exploded with little recourse to rebuild easily. Reminder that MTGO has the same issues if your games go long enough. Several Commander Clash episodes have a player's timer running out because MTGO takes too much time to process everything and keeps running the clock.
@@SmashPortal The ending isn't about timing out, it's about Arena's flashy effects *forcing* a timeout with no ability for Phil to actually act. So no, MTGO doesn't have timeouts like *that*.
(4:09) There's no kill like overkill! (10:01) Wow, that's just shenanigans, having Arena lag out like that while still burning away your timer fuses with nothing you could do about it.
Ah, my favorite video and its creator. I ROFL so bad, it's incredible. This was by far a most amazing video that propelled the opponent into a negative 4k life over that even. 👏 Now that deserves merit. The Teferi's protection at the end was ouch.
This deck is why we play Magic. Hobbits and Rats and Squirrels? Cmon! Phil ought to be a zillionaire if he's not already. Consistently makes the best Magic content, and somehow simultaneously likeabley humble and deservedly cocky.
What happened in the last game was Arena slows down combat whenever your opponent gains Pro: Everything. Same thing happens when you swing into an Active One Ring
Phil is hands down peak MTG content and peak MTG personality. Can we replace Tomer with Phil on the Commander Clash Podcast? Another great, albeit too short, video from the Arena Chef himself.
I add Mirkwood Bats to the Peregrin-Confectioner combo. It means I don't even have to attack with the rats most of the time, just doing the combo enough times kills the opponent. It also gets around The One Ring.
Oh my god, I had the exact same thing happen with my brudiclad brawl deck. I made a ton of brudiclads that weren't legendary, turned them into delinas that weren't legendary and swung with them making even more tokens only to get hit with teferis protection XD
Love this I had made a Took and Confectioner deck with food fight and Zirda so all my food taps for green with night of sweets revenge and pays for itself to fling food at my opponent. Janky but fun
Isn't this just Ratatouille? Anyway, this deck looks so sweet, definitely a treat. Very similar to an AspiringSpike brew in Modern. If only we had Academy Manufactor on Arena
In the bonus game, it was the One Ring on the battlefield causing the slow down in the attacks. If you ever attack an opponent on your turn after they cast the One Ring, that's the way combat proceeds during the combat damage stage - one creature at a time getting their attack protected against. Guess that happens when you have the One Ring out and cast any other protection type spell like Teferi's Protection!
What happened at the end of the bonus game is that your creatures were so demoralized by Teferi’s protection that they couldn’t bring themselves to do the normal animation. I feel sorry for them: their party was ruined.
