Again, thanks for the great tips! Some of the tips are so simple too but HUGELY helpful! I've never even thought about just flipping the model for the other eye!!
Thank you for this video on painting eyes. I received a did it yourself figure sculpture for Chrismtas, and even though I an crafty, I don't have confidence in painting the eyes. This video really had helped so thank you so much.
thank you!!! what a fantastic lesson it rocked!! i hope to visit your fun-tastic store soon i have been working on a line of custom 1-16 scale figures based on the 60"s war films and your lessons have been priceless- thank you greatly Raymond
Hi. Thanks. Eyes have always been a hassle for me. Have loads of busts, but not tried them because of 'Eye painting' phobia. Your tutorial has explained well. Ready to go with my first bust.
Most Excellent Tutorial on painting eyes that I can remember. Very Very good. Additionally, your teaching and illustration skills are superb. Would love to see more of your vids.
thanks. after watching about 100 tutorials, some get overly complicated and...frankly, this one seemed to really help. I'm not doing figures, rather 1/4 scale resin full dolls, but this did help when I got stuck. I either sink or swim it seems.
Very good presentation! Had i been working on a bust this size, i would have considered drilling out the iris area and inserted a pair of round balls for added 3D effect. i came across some small "glass balls" in a bookstore. They came in a variety of almost equal size`s, around 1-2 mm (pack consisted of several hundred balls) i say this because to my knowledge the anatomy/profile of an eye is somewhat bulged/conical. BTW in addition to the pupil and the iris, the white area is called sclera.
This was amazing¡ Great production, the camera was at the perfect spot, i was able to see everything and never out of focus; also the white board was very helpful along with your explanation. Thank you so much.
i really like the videos you do, i paint eyes different i paint the eye 100% hull red vallejo then i go in and cover most of the hull red with a light grey i just leave hull red around the extreme edges of the eye lids. then i paint the black spot, then i go in with a piece of wire and very easliy you can scrape the layers of black/ light grey and hull red away from the centre of the big black dot. then i go in with the desired iris colour then the pupil white flash light gloss varnish done
Excellent Dave. On your next video could you possibly finish painting the whole face? And maybe do one on painting highlights and shadows on clothing with acrylic paint. Those close up shots are great. =)
Thank you for the tutorial. One thing that would have made it better would have been to have an extreme closeup of the head after each step to show in more detail what was done. Still, this is fantastic and has been very, very helpful to me. ♥
Saludos desde argentina! Gracias maestro use esta tecnica para pintar una escultura case de depredador y me resulto perfecto. Gracias y sube mas videos pleaseee
The way I do it, is I first paint the eye socket black, then 2/3 layers of bone colour - leaving a black edge around the eye, like they're wearing make-up. This makes the eye more defined and stand out more. Then I paint the pupil, basically the same way you did here. I only really paint smaller figures, so I just leave it at that. I paint the rest of the face next, 'cause it's easier than painting the whole face then doing the eyes after.
Très beau travail monsieur c est un plaisir pour les yeux je suis abonné et je serai fier de vous avoir comme abonné aussi merci very good work mister this is a pleasure for the eyes I am subscribed!!!! and I would be proud to have you as subscriber thank you

The first thing I noticed before anything else was your use of a tripod , great lighting and excellent video editing.Anyone out there making how-to videos or tutorials, invest in a tri-pod. Nothing more annoying,no mateer how good the content then a shaky video. Excellent video..subbed
On real small miniatures 28 , 35 mm make sure you have a good magnifier and strong light. check out this video you may like his channel also lot of good painting tips. ruclips.net/video/-5s0OGUMV8M/видео.html
Looks very realistic he makes it look so easy eyes and flesh tone don't work with me but I have only been painting figures for a couple of months think I will stick to my armour 1/35scale
Probably the best "eye" tutorial I have seen in the nearly 30 years I have been painting figures; I can't wait to give this one a try.
Same here 😅
The turning of the head upside for down is a life-saver, really makes things easier for me now. Never thought of that, great job.

I have used this a few times and is a good guide for 1/35th, the catch light I cannot do but the basics have helped me.
Thank you for explaining. I generally paint 25mm, do you recommend doing their eyes the same?

I use a micro or regular sharpie and dot the pupil with the marker. sometimes black markers are easier than a brush
+Jay Lawrence Yes..I've had several people tell me this works for them.
I have problem with marker after add vernish ! So what do you use?
Best eye tutorial ive seen, Thanks

I'm doing a Dracula head sculpt and I want the eyes to look red with bloodshot lines?, What would you recommend?
Can the finishing techniques be used over Archer eye decals?
Excellent painting tips.........................Maybe you could show detail painting on models, say sci-fi models.
Very nice video, I learnd a lot thank you!
Since not all colors work the same as in their substance and density . Which one do you use?
Thank you for sharing your tips! ;o)
thanks for the info !
Great video - could you tell me where to get acrylic spray in a can for models?
That helped me so much thank you
thanks for the good video and explanation, and now the hard part, trying to do it myself (on a 35mm miniature :) )
+Dodenborg just jump in. It's easier then you think.

Thanks for the helpful and informative video. :)
what kind of paint?
Thanks Dave. Very useful.
Amazing, Eye didn't know how much work was involved lol.
Great tutorial, but you need a telescope to do this on a 1-35th scale figure...
No point in using these techniques on a 1/35th figure, more about 1/6th or so.
Not really, I've done loads of 1/32nd scaled figures myself
Could you recommend a good set (range, size number?) of paint brushes for a beginner?
Nice one.
Looks very realistic he makes it look so easy eyes and flesh tone don't work with me but I have only been painting figures for a couple of months think I will stick to my armour 1/35scale
