I AM SUCH A BIG LIGHT PERSON. I’ve never met anyone else like that!! People get so mad at me when I watch movies with friends/family! I get that you can see the screen better, but I just like being able to see everything ELSE. I have to sacrifice this so often though to please others😭😭😂

My husband bought me an Apple Watch and I hate it. It constantly buzzes and is a real distraction when driving. Also it absolutely does sweat underneath and it stinks 🤢. Can’t not wear it though because it was a present, but let me tell you when it dies, I will not be replacing it. I’m with Colleen on keeping things simple.

Hi! I think the thinking of everything at once is an anxiety thing, I also do it. I've been advised to write things down and not keep them in my mind, because my brain is anxious and is constantly "holding" the tasks and is trying to remind me what I need to do and this cost a lot of mental energy because you're holding onto everything (I hate writing tasks down though 😅 )
I have to keep the sun glass debate going because I think you missed the MOST important point: sun glasses are not primarily to look cute. Their purpose is to literally protect you from cancer. Eye damage and cancer in the eye are common and real bad. I don’t like the feeling of glasses as well but especially in places with lots of sun it‘s so important!
I'm on Erik's side with the whole light thing lol during the day I will open the blinds or curtains and use the natural light but will not turn on a big light! At night I always turn my lamps on the lowest setting unless I absolutely need more light to see something 🤣
I don’t have ADHD and I think of a list as a chunk of things to do. I can’t even imagine just ignoring the rest of the list and concentrating on one thing. What’s that world like? I think I know what you're talking about Colleen. It is called something like adhd paralysis, where you feel stuck and can't do anything because you're thinking too much about everything you have to do. Sometimes it makes us look lazy
I didn't like sunglasses when I was younger but I need them when I'm driving. I have dark brown eyes too. I'm with Erik about sunglasses. I always wear them in the sun & on the beach
Sitting here wondering if Erik’s chair reclines, but then I see the ottoman/stool, so probably not (?) Also, when talking about visualizing things vertically or diagonally, you talked about something similar but it was about how you see days of the week or the months, I believe. I just love the love you two have for each other and how you listen to and engage with one another. I’m lucky to have that with my husband too. If I was still with my first husband, I would be feeling like I was missing out, but now I can enjoy you guys and feel lucky that I have a good one too! 🥰

Colleen, you don’t need a wallet but you would benefit from a cardholder! Wallets are too big and bulky to fuss with but a cardholder fits perfectly in your pocket and keeps your stuff organized at the same time!
Oh, Colleen, the sunglasses thing… I totally understand what you’re saying and experiencing. AND I have light blue, very sensitive eyes and chronic migraines. So I kind of HAVE to wear the sunglasses even though they make me claustrophobic, make me panic and bother my vision. I don’t wear them often enough. When I’m on holidays, I can get used to them and benefit from the safe space that they provide (what Erik spoke about). But it always starts with some days of avoiding going outside or doing it while being panicked and dissociated. Oh the brains, why are they so… neurospicy.
The lights! OMG I HATE THE BIG LIGHT! The big light in my house has only ever come on when I accidentally hit the wrong switch. Give me the dimmable light, black out curtains, the darkest window shade ever made! I love the dark… maybe that’s the depression talking 😂😂

My husband hates the big lights though so we try to compromise. We changed all the big light lightbulbs to yellow lights and he can deal with those and we keep the big lights off in his office

I feel like wallets made more sense before technology, when most people paid with cash and we collected business cards and such. Now it's all on our phones. I also have a pocket in my bag for my credit card and ID and that's basically all I need (and my phone).
I think about my to do’s the same way you do Colleen. I’m not diagnosed ADHD but my mind is always thinking of everything I have to do next instead of focusing on the thing I am doing. I always tell myself “you have to focus!”

Erik may understand library horizontal catalogs of books before the net which is the opposite of long vertical lists. It's all relative of abstract thoughts and directions that connect your thoughts that do the different directions. I dont know. Maybe my comment is more confusing lol

One of the reasons why I usually don’t enjoy eating at restaurants at night is because the restaurants turn the lights down so dim I feel like I’m wearing sunglasses inside and I can’t see my food! Gotta have all the light!

I used to work at a decently popular store on the Strip in Vegas and having to ID people was the worst of the worst thing. At my old store, you CAN bypass having to scan their ID because customers do have a choice in the matter. You would just type in their birthday. Also, the cashier would have to be at least 21 to sell alcohol. Is that really too young for facebook?

Back to the sunglasses thing- I relate to you, Colleen!! You know how people have to turn down the music in their car when they’re getting close to their destination? I do the same thing with sunglasses! If I really need to see something I have to take them off!! I wear them because it’s safer for my eyes, and I had lasik done on my eyes and was recommended to always wear sunglasses in the sun. Also because they’re cute. But for sure need them off when I’m looking for something lol!
Okay like a lot of the other sunglass commenters i too have never commented on a video but i feel the EXACT same way about sunglasses (obstructs my vision, feels claustrophobic, need to see the world in HD) yet i have blue eyes…so that combination just results in me squinting a whole lot and dealing with the fact that i will have deeeep crows feet around my eyes when i’m older. I sometimes wonder if it’s an adhd thing at least for me because they kinda distract me from what i’m doing and the same goes for lights, i need my phone brightness up, all the lights on around me, blinds all open, etc. it makes a big difference in how productive i am or else i’ll feel like something’s off the whole time
I think vertically for sure. My husband very early on in our relationship was absolutely delighted to discover he could erase my mental list while I was making it. And erase my chalk board when I'm trying to figure out a math problem.... I think we visualize so accurately that it is like you are writing on paper.
I think with the vertical vs. Horizontal thing, it's more like neurodivergent people approach all the tasks for the day at once and they are all unorganized so it can be hard to tell them apart chronologically or by how important they are to get done. Neurotypical people tend to approach the tasks one at a time according to how important they are and where they fit chronologically into their day. It's the difference between essentially a videogame tutorial that goes task by task and being handed a to do list with tasks in a random order.
I also want to add that the neurodivergent version is also a common thing for people with anxiety disorders so that may be why Erik doesn't get what Colleen is saying because they both see it the same way.
I usually don't comment on videos, but I just had to say that I am the same way as Colleen- I don't wear sunglasses, don't have a wallet or a watch, don't were shoes inside (that's the norm in Estonia anyway). When we leave the house my husband has the keys and I have backpack with things for our three kids. 😂

I like keeping ALL the lights on ALL the time too. Except when I'm trying to wind down at night, which is usually just when I'm brushing my teeth and cleaning my face. 😅 It helps my depression to have lights on most of the day, especially in the Pacific Northwest.

I hate light - couldn't live without my sunglasses!
Also sunglasses are made for us to wear to protect our eyes from the UV rays from the sun. That's why they are called sunglasses.
I think with the vertical vs. Horizontal thing, it's more like neurodivergent people approach all the tasks for the day at once and they are all unorganized so it can be hard to tell them apart chronologically or by how important they are to get done. Neurotypical people tend to approach the tasks one at a time according to how important they are and where they fit chronologically into their day. It's the difference between essentially a videogame tutorial that goes task by task and being handed a to do list with tasks in a random order.
I also want to add that the neurodivergent version is also a common thing for people with anxiety disorders so that may be why Erik doesn't get what Colleen is saying because they both see it the same way.

I usually don't comment on videos, but I just had to say that I am the same way as Colleen- I don't wear sunglasses, don't have a wallet or a watch, don't were shoes inside (that's the norm in Estonia anyway). When we leave the house my husband has the keys and I have backpack with things for our three kids. 😂

I like the big light too. It feels like a vacation to my eyes when it's bright. I can't see in the dark!
Isn't it illegal because officers can't see into the vehicle?! Thats what i always thought... is that not true? I totally thought it was fr officer/ first responder safety.
Every time I get new prescription for glasses I always get prescription sunglasses and never use them!!! They stay in my purse and literally never use them!😊

The audible gasp I gusped when Colleen said she was a big light person... I am SHOCKED! If I could never have the big light on, I would do it.

I like keeping ALL the lights on ALL the time too. Except when I'm trying to wind down at night, which is usually just when I'm brushing my teeth and cleaning my face. 😅
It helps my depression to have lights on most of the day, especially in the Pacific Northwest.
