- I climb Ireland’s Holy Mountain - Croagh Patrick hike. Hiking Croagh Patrick is quite challenging but volunteers have done some fantastic work on the path to ensure more safety. Just FYI When you reach the steep section of the climb, it is likely that you will be more sheltered than you were on the lower reaches of the mountain as the peak often acts as a wind breaker against the wind/rain.

Thanks so much for posting your videos. My wife and I visited Ireland for the first time two weeks ago and we were blessed with a weather window on the day we were planning to hike Croagh Patrick. The rain stopped when we got to the parking lot and the peak was obscured in clouds. When we reached the peak the clouds cleared up so we could see the incredible views as we prayed for our family and friends. The winds picked up on the way down and the rain started as we reached our car. Our entire trip was a blessing.
I blessed myself along with you. Forty days, forty nights and day forty ! Thanks for taking us along on your journey!

Anybody anyone hiking in March and April? I will be in Ireland God willing according to the plans I made. This will mean the world to me.... I lost my Mom 3 years ago... Heaven gained a beautiful soul.... and this trip to Ireland is all about my Mom and my Irish Heritage... Its a need I need.... cleansing and spiritual... I think I will journal about it and learn and grow... I know me Mom is with me... and I cant turn back now I already bought my plane ticket and each and every day I get closer and closer to going .... I climbed it last year. it was much tougher than I thought. beautiful view of Clew Bay, Home of Grace O Malley.....Fun Fact Croagh Patrick Has Millions worth of gold in its geology that was never exploited because of its historical, mythological and tourist value. A rare forward thinking approach by the powers that be...

Good thick trousers & hiking boots would be the thing for that terrain. A cracking view off Cr Patrick. West Port is a lovely spot. Maybe you'll stay until this storm has passed. 💚

Fair play Derek. Tough day from the bog underfoot to the hail in the skies. Those shots from the top of Croagh Patrick were magical, and I hope a just reward for your soul to book-end your day (well, nearly). Would love to learn more about your spirituality. That shot of you kneeling in prayer was very powerful. Not sure why. I guess so many people creating this genre of outdoor content seem very detached from any spirituality - or a least not that they are prepared to share or disclose. In a World where so many seem lost or are looking to find something or even themselves, that you hold your spirituality so close is curious and inspiring in equal measure. Take care Derek. Enjoy Westport - Love the town. Something tells me it might even be more enjoyable off-peak when there are fewer people about.
Thank you. I have always wanted my videos to be open to interpretation or to be a spark that might lead somebody on a spiritual journey of their own. I believe walking, camping and spending time in nature is just a way to remove distractions and find a way back to your true home - that last part I mention is the real journey 🙏
At least you got to see a patch of blue sky when you were at the top. A couple of times (in better weather) I've said I'd like to climb it, but others in our party thought we had to move on. Didn't get close to it this year, and I'm not sure when our next trip to Ireland will be. It was good to see how it went for you.
