On this St. Patrick's Day 2023, I thank you so much for sharing this inspiring video of you and your son courageously following in the footsteps of the Saint himself. Any one with a drop of Irish blood in them has the passion to do what you have accomplished and it was a joy for me to see your journey and to learn what to do when that day occurs for me. From far and away...cheers mates and well done. You have provided yourselves with wondrous memories of those moments along with tremendous inspiration for your viewers. A bucket list challenge to be sure. With much gratitude.
Well done for climbing Patrick with your lad, a super experience. I did it back in the late 90’s with the FCA in full combat gear on a sweltering afternoon...it was a killer. That gravel on the ascent saps your legs & lethal on the descent. Amazing views though make it worth it!
Wow fair play to you for doing that.. It would be a brutal hike without the sticks, I can't imagine what it would be like in full combat gear. I wasn't sure that I was going to enjoy it because it is so busy with tourism etc but I loved it and so did Kayden. The views are fantastic
It's a great walk, delighted you got the views they look spectacular. When I walked Croagh Patrick, it was foggy so saw nothing. Glad you were able to show what it looks like.
I was delighted too. The weather is always hit and miss.l so we got lucky that day. I hope you get to see the views if you decide to do it again. All the best 🙂
@@RamblingOn Thanks man.. nearly there now, gonna set up the tent at "basecamp" and head up first light. Fair play for posting the video..it was inspiring enough for us to go !🤘🏻
Ah I was delighted, it's one of those hikes that you just need a clear day. Mayo is class, I can't wait to get back there 😁 I've just finished the Slieve Bloom way.. I never realised how vast it is
Did jb malone to djouce, The loaf, Crone Woods to maulin mountain, & kippure.. Over the last week or so & we were absolutely blessed with the weather thank god 😁
The weather has been absolutely stunning this summer. This week is to be fantastic too. Fair play for doing those few hikes, I haven't got around that way yet but maybe someday soon 🤞
@@RamblingOn literally just watched your tongueagee video 🤭 Givin that a blast tomorrow. Your weather explanation was genuinely laugh out loud ( not to be confused with the fake / overused lol), when you 1st apologised I was like ah Jayzus tis not your fault, & then your penny dropped & you said if it's shite it's shite 🤷♂️😂😂😂 Keep doing your thing. Happy & safe mo chara 🤝🤝🤝
Hi Jason great video and good to see you both out together hiking up the hills. Amazing views and reminds me of New Zealand with the water and Islands 👌 All the best mate and enjoy your week 👍
Ah cheers Lee I'll be heading back uo there in the winter hopefully. Ive only ever seen photos or videos of New Zealand. I hope your getting out yourself, I can't believe it is August already. Have a good week, oh I popped a video up of the truckers hitch. You mentioned it before but you've probably learned how to do it since 😅 have a good one 👍
@@RamblingOn @Rambling On be interesting to see the different view from different seasons. If you get a chance to go to NZ it's fantastic 👍 Sorry for not commenting but been so busy. I had noticed another video from you and no I haven't learnt from anyone else, so was waiting for your masterclass 🤔😂 I'm not getting a bivy I've decided to get another tent, as I enjoy sitting up and having more room. So I may get one next summer for the tarp and a decent tent for the winter 😂😂 but don't tell my wife 😳 Have a good one mate and thanks for the chat 👍
Yeah I'd say it will be good on a frosty morning. Ah your grand don't worry at all. I actually got a new tent 😆 watch this space as they say. Ah yeah a lot of people wouldn't use a bivvy in the winter. I'll chance it 🙂 You are on the ball anyway, I completely overlooked a tent for the winter 😂 I may use me Lanshan. I hope you manage to sneak the tent past your wife. Let me know what one you go with. Cheers Lee, take it easy 👍
Fair play! It looks surreal! I did it twice in 2017,2018. The last leg is really tough with loose rocks making it risky. However once you reach the summit it's all worth it
It was my first pilgrimage route although we didn't do it for that reason. It is a beautiful hike and there are other pilgrimage hikes around Ireland that I would like to do like St.Declans way and St.Kevins way. We could not have picked a better day for it 😀
Ah mid September you should be alright. September always seems to have some of the nicest weather. I saw people of all different fitness levels the day I went.. Stick to your own pace and you will do it no bothers. Enjoy your hike 👍
There is a big carpark that is paid parking as far as I remember.. Of memory serves me right it took us 2 hours to reach the summit at a nice steady pace with two small breaks. I'm not sure of the total time unfortunately. I hope your hike goes well, it's a really stunning place 👍
Definitely have trekking poles and proper footwear. Other than that just take your time, even the lower part of the hike can be slippy underfoot so don't let your guard down after the steeper section. I hope this helps 👍
@@RamblingOn TY! I have a textured image of "Ireland" my Grandmother had over her couch that I inherited. It wasn't until I came back from my most recent trip to Ireland that it was a view of Croagh Patrick from the across the way. I just remember her saying how she circled around something on her knees three times. Not sure if it was before she left for the States in the 1920s or during one of her trips back with her sisters.
@@tmts9633 that is class to have that to hold onto. The image must be looking across from Clew Bay? You don't have to climb to the top of Croagh Patrick to get the views, half way up the views are just as stunning as they are from the top. The area around there is stunning and if you are into hiking Mweelrea looks amazing, you can see it from Croagh Patrick, I have not hiked that one yet but I will be making sure that I do sooner rather than later. Really great to hear about your Grandmother, thank you for sharing that with me.
Honestly I have no idea. I've just looked back at the video because of your question and I'm surprised that I didn't have closer footage of the church. It's a hike that I will return to with better equipment so I'll make sure to include it along with more information of the hike itself

Great job on this. FYI I’ve embedded it on a trail guide I just published on my site, if that’s okay…
