I agree with you, I think Reed should only be on the floor when Fred is not on the floor. I definitely think that Brooks or Green’s starting spot spot could be up for grabs

Dante is an important player amongst this group. Stone has done well with his draft picks that weren’t at the top of the draft.
The Rockets summer league coaches should give Reed Sheppard the damn ball to run the offense. If Stephon castle can do it in summer league having not run an offense at college level, then Reed Sheppard is more than capable of running the show
Eason should have been starting over Jabari from day #1.

If Amen shoots .33 from the field and Jalen has another slow start Amen will take Jalen's spot.
I would wholeheartedly support that adjustment.
That would be Cam. Cam shot 44% in catch & shoot situations which is the best on the team.

I don’t want to hear about “IQ” from non-hoopers and couch potatoes. Cam is a small forward and was playing out of position as a rookie. The “IQ” will come with more playing time.

Cam Whitmore is the second best Rocket and it not really close.
Cam is better than Jalen
I think Cam's offensive package...in the context of what the rockets need (i.e., consistent catch and shoot 3's and the ability to attack close outs) is better than Jalen right now. Jalen's shot has not translated on a consistent basis and yes he can attack closeouts...but whether he does that better than Cam is debatable. Even if I grant that Jalen attacks closeouts better than Cam the difference is not large enough for me to concede that Jalen is better offensively. Now Jalen is a better playmaker and facilitator right now...no doubt about it...but it doesn't make up for his inconsistent shooting...it doesn't. If Jalen shot 37% from 3 last year...consistently all year...we would have 5-6 more wins...easily. For these first 3 years he has been shooting a lot and missing a lot.
Cam will definitely be better than Jalen on the long run, I think!
Cam is the only Rocket that looks the part of a legitimate star that can be built around.
@@slickrick8046 I think Amen probably has the highest ceiling. I would be surprised if Cam doesn't at least turn into a good starter or 6 man...Jamal Crawford type...at a minimum...and I will not be surprised if Cam turns into a star.

I like Amen. I think he will eventually make a run for DPY. But his handles are loose and his shot is busted, which lowers his ceiling.
I think you’re overlooking the fact that Cam has been a bucket getting *Small Forward* throughout his life and you’re comparing him to shooting guards. Ideally you would want your shooting guard to be just as good of a ball handler and facilitator as a point guard (or close to it), but Cam isn’t a shooting guard.
Cam shot 44% in catch & shoot situations, and 41% in movement shooting situations (best on the team)…which is outstanding for a rookie. He’s also a good defender. My issue with Cam is he needs to be a better finisher at the basket, especially considering his size. I think the playmaking, facilitating ability, and shot selection will get better with time.
But on a team full of players with suspect shooting and or have a hard time creating for themselves…Cam should be a jacker like Jamal “Pass For What” Crawford.

Ima still say kpj was the better 2 guard between him and jalen but he's a clipper now and I'll be watchin just to keep track. Just imagine though ime coaching kpj up. That would of been nice
I think KPJ was a better shooter and a better 1 on 1 player than Jalen. He needed far less space to score in isolation. I know he had more off the court issues so I understand why the Rockets had to let him go...but that doesn't change the fact that he was a better shooter and better one on one player. I will be watching his time with the Clippers and I wish him the best.
I am amazed that KPJ is NOT facing a suspension from the NBA after pleading guilty to assault and battery. Plus, the guy had a serious attitude problem, anger issues and was big-time bad energy in the locker room and around town.

Tari might be better in a vacuum than Dillion, however Tari has severe tunnel vision when he has the ball. Dillion at least passes it. Also, Dillion does have a better offensive package than Tari currently so we'll need an uptick in offense from Sengun and Jalen to compensate for the six less points Tari would average.
I agree. Tari might have better advanced metrics but I don't think Tari is a better overall player than Dillon Brooks right now. Think about it like this. If you replace Dillon with Tari on the Canadian national team would that team be better? No serious person can believe that.

All the players you mentioned to replace Green in the starting lineup does not work; your going to put two small guards (FVV and Reed); put 2 defenders who can’t shot create (Brooks and Eason); cam whitmore from last year does not consistently defend and has to improve his passing and handles
The advanced metrics might value Tari...and on paper his shot is decent...but he does not have gravity and doesn't shoot 3's at a high enough volume and at a high enough % to really demand respect. I like Tari...but I think people are taking the Tari talk too far...at least where he is right now in his development...and I also don't like Dillon at the 2...in his younger years maybe...but I like him at the 3...not the 2.

It sounds bad when you say it like that, but it's basically what the Nuggets had in KCP/MPJ/Gordon.
Dillon/Tari/Jabari at the 2/3/4 as three versatile wing pieces with all the offense being generated by FVV/Sengun.

I'm kind of getting sick and tired of the way you keep disrespecting Amen Thompson. He made the Select Team, but according to you, he's got no shot to make the starting lineup next year. Even Reed Shepard, who I like, but hasn't played a single minute in the NBA has a better chance of making the starting lineup ahead of Amen according to you.
Calm down man. Jackson is looking at it from a standpoint of what the Rockets need in their starting line up. It's fine for Amen coming off the bench for now. He wants to play point guard. So let him play point guard with the 2nd unit...possibly share pg duties with Reed Shephard. A 2nd unit featuring Reed, Amen, Tari, AJ, and Steven Adams will destroy most 2nd units in the nba...easily.
@@truthseeker9400 I don't disagree with that, but Amen has already started and demonstrated he is a high impact player on and off the ball. With the possible exception of Tari, no one on the Rockets bench should start before him.
Amen is only going to get better. No one is worried about Amen Thompson, we know he is the real deal, shot or not shot as a passer, a defender and a downhill bucket getter. Jalen Green will not get an extension if he does not prove himself this year. Amen is safe and a good, solid bet for the Rockets’ future.
I would like The Rockets trade for Lauri markkanen. If it’s possible send Dillon brooks, Steve adams, Tate and first round picks to the Jazz for Lauri markkanen
Maybe Jabari, Tate, and 5 firsts could get him.
We have Jabari, Tari, and small ball Amen for the 4. We don't need Lauri...he's good...but we don't need him.

I am looking forward to seeing Jalen playing for his extension this year. He has to be more consistent across the board or he will not get extended; and is more likely to be traded mid-season.
