I thought that too. And they seemed to slow the boats down. Or at least slower than the ones at Disneyland (I’ve never been to WDW). There was so much to see, discover and enjoy on Splash Mountain, and you floated by quickly and couldn’t absorb it all. It was never dull. Scenery looks beautiful, music sounds good but the story is not captivating enough. Could have added in something like the Voodoo Man for a sense of danger before the big drop.
I'm a bit confused by the story. 🙃 I thought it was all going to be about food. I thought we (the guests) were going to be helping to find INGREDIENTS for the special celebration (catered for by Tiana's Foods)? But, listening to the dialogue in this video, it appears we're supposed to be finding a BAND for the celebration. So it's all about music. We find a couple of bands that can play, then Mama Odie turns us tiny (frog size) where we find tiny musicians, then Mama Odie turns us big again to make a bigger splash at the party. Then we go to the party, which is a joyful celebration. Is it really that simple or am I missing something?
So what I think the story is that Tiana and Louis need to find critters to join the band so they recruit you to help them find the critters and then after a bit Mama Odie turns you into a small frog/critter so that you can gather the frogs you see around the mushroom place and as the ride goes on we gather more and more of the critters and then Mama Odie turns you back to human size so that you can join the Mardi Gras party at the end. (this is all just a theory but I hope this made sense at all)

The story feels very flat and disconnected. It is hard to improve upon the original Splash Mountain and the comparison will always be present. If we start the ride at Tiana's Foods how does the story work that we meet Louis and the critters in the bayou, end up at Tiana's Palace, and end up back at Tiana's Foods?
I just don't understand. Is there a reason they couldn't make the ride based on the events of the movie? Why make a whole new plot (that isn't even that good) when they had so much universally liked source material?
They did the same thing when they created Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge with no discernible timeline and no well-known well-loved characters/planets. And it flopped. It’s like they aren’t very bright anymore. 🤷♀️
It looks alright, I miss the sense of danger that use to be in Splash Mountain and the excitement and nervousness of going down the final drop. I'll give it a 6/10
i think they need to slow down the flumes a tad during the ending scene, for me it seemed like it just rushed by and i couldn’t catch a good glimpse of it. also, storyline where? other than that, this looks impressive!
The last time I smelled this much crap was in the bathroom of a highway truck-stop that hadn't been cleaned in about twenty years. They should have just painted the outside of the mouintain brown. That would have at least been honest. Honestly, this is a monstrosity. I can NOT believe that they removed the Walt DIsney masterpiece of Splash Mountain and replaced it with this trash. Everyone who is responsible for it should be immediately fired and blackballed forever, even from attending the parks as guests, and then they should hire people who actually RESPECT Walt, rather than wanting to cancel him, and have them put Splash Mountain back.
Disney did it again and destroyed a good thing! No conflict or tension... "I'll take it to the other side" at Epic Universal. Not only did they destroy splash mountain, Disney did an absolute disservice to Tiana's story.
Underimpressive change, for the money and effort that Disney spent into this to remove Briar rabbit for whatever reasons, it seems like they could have easily revised the existing to improve it. While amongst everything now days change happens but nothing near what I felt they could have done, too many blank spots or areas with nothing much I just hope it doesn't; impact the popularity of the ride for the experience it has to hold. Truly miss the old that's all I can say! It was a classic to do bucket list item! Thanks for the creation and share though! Great quality as always!

Its unfortunate that this ride has a weak storyline, because the animatronics are so good. Mickeys runaway railroad has a better storyline but weaker animatronics.

Why did Disney replace the icon that is Splash Mountain? I almost cried while watching this. Sure, the animatronics are impressive I guess, but you just can't replace such a classic like Splash Mountain. The story is all over the place, there are more projections and less animatronics, and the music is just music from the movie, now I don't mind Princess and the Frog music, but it's just not as iconic as Splash Mountains. It's not a zippedy doo da day anymore. :( I hope disney eventually brings back Splash Mountain.
Tiana is one of my favorite princesses, because she did not "wish upon a star" to make her dreams come true; she worked hard to bring her dream to life. I think her story has potential for this ride, but it fell flat. It's all about getting to a party, that seems a bit trivial. It just has no adventure to it. No thrills (i agree with the others who suggested some kind of foreboding atmosphere leading to the drop). No sense of urgency or importance to the ride. Just a passive trip through the bayou. Sadly, i feel it has nowhere near the heart that Splash Mountain had.
I fell like the time span. They did do it and it is a pretty good ride, but I feel like they could’ve added a lot more detail and took a little bit more time on it. Also, I think they should’ve definitely added like more characters and more of like the storyline of the movie, because why isn’t Tiana in her dress at all?
The ride is supposed to be themed to the events after the movie. It's the reason she's not in her dress, and is also the reason we don't have Dr. Facilier or mentions of the Other Side on the ride. That being said, I do feel like they should've had her in her dress for the big party at the end of the ride, but I guess Disney felt differently.
Story is the worst part of this experience What a disappointment after what we lost and were hyped up to believe this was going to be. I don’t care what happened in the movie with Facilier, they could have ignored that and had the evil tension buildup before the main drop, then settle down into New Orleans with the main theme song with more “animated” animatronics.

The current Disney management was not respectful when they took this huge step to cancel Walt by removing the masterpiece that was Splash Mountain and replaced it with this terrible... thing. It has absolutely NOTHING to do with Disney. Splash Mountain did what Walt required; make attractions that make people smile. Anyone can go to a robotics contractor and buy expensive animatronics for big bucks, but that does NOTHING to make a good attraction. The Disney of Walt's time didn't NEED expensive animatronics to make a great attraction. They had STORY, they had THEME, they had GOOD MUSIC, and it all worked to make the most excellent stories that anyone had ever seen. This, this.. thing does NONE of that. The music is grating, the characters are undefined, there is NO story, the venue has NOTHING to do with the Princess and the Frog, and even that story was very mediocre and completely unworthy to bear the Disney name. Yes, they have great animatronics and some great artistry in the ride, but that's only like platters of silver carrying piles of manure. Everyone responsible for this DISASTER should be fired and banned from Disney, and the entire Disney management and creative staff should be replaced. Then a profound apology should be issued, this monstrosity should be torn down and Splash Mountain should be reinstated.
Why the hell is Tiana in an explorer outfit? And where is her iconic green dress? Imagineers really messed this one up. This ride had an insane amount of potential to be so magical and amazing. I’m disappointed in the imaganeering. Sorry. It’s still cute but could have been so much more magical.
Looks great - but it comes across as "sparse" and it seems to be missing more dynamic music -- and needs several more animatronics - and perhaps some more visual effects in the underground - Finale is terrific.
Much better than I feared. I thought we'd get 2 or 3 new animatronics and a bunch of projections. Splash Mountain was made up of inferior leftover animatronics from America Sings, so this is quite an improvement!
There is no story...she is just looking for a band??? Doesn't even really tie into the great movie...how does this happen? Rush jobs and lazy writing hits the park too... so sad.
Look, I understand all the hate this ride gets, but honestly, I’m pretty glad with what we got and I’m grateful for it. Like Mama Odie always says “what you want isn’t exactly what you need”. Sure, have we wanted the drop to have “Are you REEEEADY?” for the longest time? Yeah. But keep in mind that all these Imagineers worked on this dang ride for 5 hard and long years since 2020, and to see all the pieces of this beautiful masterpiece (animatronics, audio, screens, lighting and smoke effects, etc.) all coming together despite a few technical kinks needed to be worked out is just freaking *AMAZING!!* If anything, the only issues I have about this is 1. The audio for the animatronics should be nice and synced once both versions make it to their respective parks. And 2. the Disneyland version at least should maybe add some extra show scenes in the bayou to fill up the whole dead empty space we sometimes see in there. Other than that, plot’s fine, animatronics are so BEAUTIFUL, and the whole thing is just so amazing! Hopefully all those vloggers out there can get a better view once previews start kicking in. And one more thing: if someone ever makes a video of nice, still closer looks at all the animatronics on the ride saying all of their lines (bc I know for a fact they all have multiple lines and not just the ones we see here), then and only then will I be happy.
I think the Disneyland version will be a bit better. Their show building is a bit tighter and the flume winds around a bit more while also moving faster. The scenes won’t feel quite as empty in that version I think.

its sad to see so many comments dissing the re-theme. to me, i feel the video doesnt give the full effect of the ride. you dont really get to see the detail you would if you were actually on the ride, partly i feel because the camera only moves with the boat and not side to side to shown the scenes more. I'm genuinely really excited to experience the disneyland version when it opens. I remember riding this as splash mountain when I was younger (both cali and florida) and I thought the rides were ok (i was a kid, of course i would complain about getting wet having wet socks the rest of the day). but when some people seem to not know or need to remember that the ip that splash mountain was based on (song of the south) is actually really racist and put slavery in a lighter context than what it actually was if you've every watched it. Also, splash mountain as a ride itself was going downhill technically anyways. the amount of breakdowns, malfunctioning animatronics, and even missing animatronics because they were constantly being repaired was a big sign that the ride had run it's course. the imaginers that have worked on this have done such an amazing job on this, from the theming to the straight forward story, with the time frame they were given.
Incredible! What a beautiful, happy ride. The music is so fun and I can't wait to ride it. Of course, Splash Mountain was awesome and it was my favorite ride, However, I think it's fitting for Tiana's Bayou Adventure to take Splash Mountain's place and they did an awesome job!

What made Splash so classic were the catchy tunes. Tiana is just a one done ride and for get it. Our worst nightmare came true.

Terrible job by the Imagineers to re-theme a favorite ride in the Magic Kingdom to this lame excuse for a ride. You spent money to go backwards.

They had STORY, they had THEME, they had GOOD MUSIC, and it all worked to make the most excellent stories that anyone had ever seen. This, this.. thing does NONE of that. The music is grating, the characters are undefined, there is NO story, the venue has NOTHING to do with the Princess and the Frog, and even that story was very mediocre and completely unworthy to bear the Disney name. Yes, they have great animatronics and some great artistry in the ride, but that's only like platters of silver carrying piles of manure. Everyone responsible for this DISASTER should be fired and banned from Disney, and the entire Disney management and creative staff should be replaced. Then a profound apology should be issued, this monstrosity should be torn down and Splash Mountain should be reinstated.

Why the hell is Tiana in an explorer outfit? And where is her iconic green dress? Imagineers really messed this one up. This ride had an insane amount of potential to be so magical and amazing. I’m disappointed in the imaganeering. Sorry. It’s still cute but could have been so much more magical.
Looks great - but it comes across as "sparse" and it seems to be missing more dynamic music -- and needs several more animatronics - and perhaps some more visual effects in the underground - Finale is terrific.
Tianas is for that new generation,

Much better than I feared. I thought we'd get 2 or 3 new animatronics and a bunch of projections. Splash Mountain was made up of inferior leftover animatronics from America Sings, so this is quite an improvement!
There is no story...she is just looking for a band??? Doesn't even really tie into the great movie...how does this happen? Rush jobs and lazy writing hits the park too... so sad.
Look, I understand all the hate this ride gets, but honestly, I’m pretty glad with what we got and I’m grateful for it. Like Mama Odie always says “what you want isn’t exactly what you need”.
Sure, have we wanted the drop to have “Are you REEEEADY?” for the longest time? Yeah.
But keep in mind that all these Imagineers worked on this dang ride for 5 hard and long years since 2020, and to see all the pieces of this beautiful masterpiece (animatronics, audio, screens, lighting and smoke effects, etc.) all coming together despite a few technical kinks needed to be worked out is just freaking *AMAZING!!*
If anything, the only issues I have about this is 1. The audio for the animatronics should be nice and synced once both versions make it to their respective parks. And 2. the Disneyland version at least should maybe add some extra show scenes in the bayou to fill up the whole dead empty space we sometimes see in there.
Other than that, plot’s fine, animatronics are so BEAUTIFUL, and the whole thing is just so amazing! Hopefully all those vloggers out there can get a better view once previews start kicking in.
And one more thing: if someone ever makes a video of nice, still closer looks at all the animatronics on the ride saying all of their lines (bc I know for a fact they all have multiple lines and not just the ones we see here), then and only then will I be happy.
I think the Disneyland version will be a bit better. Their show building is a bit tighter and the flume winds around a bit more while also moving faster. The scenes won’t feel quite as empty in that version I think.

its sad to see so many comments dissing the re-theme. to me, i feel the video doesnt give the full effect of the ride. you dont really get to see the detail you would if you were actually on the ride, partly i feel because the camera only moves with the boat and not side to side to shown the scenes more. I'm genuinely really excited to experience the disneyland version when it opens. I remember riding this as splash mountain when I was younger (both cali and florida) and I thought the rides were ok (i was a kid, of course i would complain about getting wet having wet socks the rest of the day). but when some people seem to not know or need to remember that the ip that splash mountain was based on (song of the south) is actually really racist and put slavery in a lighter context than what it actually was if you've every watched it. Also, splash mountain as a ride itself was going downhill technically anyways. the amount of breakdowns, malfunctioning animatronics, and even missing animatronics because they were constantly being repaired was a big sign that the ride had run it's course. the imaginers that have worked on this have done such an amazing job on this, from the theming to the straight forward story, with the time frame they were given.

Incredible! What a beautiful, happy ride. The music is so fun and I can't wait to ride it. Of course, Splash Mountain was awesome and it was my favorite ride, However, I think it's fitting for Tiana's Bayou Adventure to take Splash Mountain's place and they did an awesome job!
To those folks that found Splash offensive and caused its demise - please be advised I find this replacement to be offensive!! Music and entertainment value NO COMPARISON!! Tired of Tiana!!
