The Govermint was really one of the criminal gangs who filled a power vacuum after the NRC withdrew from the area. When Lucy picked up the NCR flag and the music played, that gave me the chills. It inspired me to play New Vegas again.
Imagine waking up to NCR and Enclave and BoS and the Institute and the Strip
Shady Sands was a city you could visit in 1 and 2. Its only mentioned in New Vegas
20:38 I don't think there was ever a famine in 32. Remember it also said 'Death to Management' in the Overseer of 32's office. I think the so called famine was just an excuse made by the raiders to get into 33. The last sign of life in 32 was two years ago, which means everyone in 32 were already dead before the raiders got there.

the fusion cores were a new change they made in 4, which was quite controversial, so they didn’t mention them in previous games. In 4 though you needed them to operate the armor, and they had a limited amount of power so you had to find more and swap them out sometimes. You would find them in the world, often in places powering other machines.
Best change for FO4, treating PO like tanks with special fuel. Very much Iron Man

IIRC a lot of the controversy against them is lore-wise. Apparently they were already mentioned in some canon design documents / game manuals or something. And they were described as some OP arc reactor type of power source, not unlike the way they're being presented here in this show. The ones in Fallout 4 are like AAA batteries in comparison.

Cooper's wife is full of red flags and she gas lights him constantly. She knows precisely what will happen and she slipped up a couple times by telling Cooper too much when she got angry. The actress does a good job with her body language, which is something I look for in people. Moldaver probably survived by being frozen like in Vault 111 in Fallout 4.
The outro to episode 8 shows a sign that gives a clue to one possibility for how Moldaver might have survived for so long.

i would guess moldaver was frozen in V31 and was assigned to overseer of 32 meeting lucy´s mother that way.
then they escaped 32 and found home in shady sands.
remember lucys father was not surprised by hearing her name as an overseer of 32 when she came with the raiders...
Did you guys notice that the Overseer's computer was working when Norman and Chet visited Vault 32 the first time, and after the cleanup, the computer was broken?
I haven’t seen such a good show in a veryyy long time. gives me the excitement that GOT gave me when I first watched that. I would watch 100 seasons of this show. Love your reactions 🫶🏻

Shady Sands came from the inhabitants of Vault 15 in the games. They used their Vault's GECK to revive the land and make the town. It was a small town in Fallout 1, then you revisit it (now called "NCR") in Fallout 2.
35:21 In the games you didn’t need the fusion core for the power armor until Fallout 4. In Fallout 4 the power armor becomes sluggish and basically useless if you remove the fusion core (since you are using your own muscle to move it). You can still get in and out of armor though.
Shady Sands was a small village in Fallout 1, was a much larger, successful city in Fallout 2, and mentioned as the capitol of the NCR in Fallout: New Vegas.
Some time after the events of F:NV, Shady Sands is nuked out of existence (that's new lore with the TV series).
The Brotherhood of Steel formed from remnants of a military unit in the western US (lore from Fallout 1).
"Go try to dig a hole..." Bahaha I love Mr. October's takes on digging holes. You know this man has had an experience digging a hole that made the speed of theatrical hole-digging seem so unrealistic.
Well, we live in Georgia and digging through this red dirt is like digging through concrete plus there’s so many roots and rocks that it is almost impossible to just dig a hole like that, but they always seem to do it on the TV shows especially the woods
The story of “The Survivalist” in Fallout: New Vegas is IMO peak fallout storytelling
Hands down. Even the dialogue options giving set skill check prerequisites so you can't scum save and reload, several different ways to complete quests, and damn, even poor grammar in dialogue if your Intelligence is low..
Shady sands was a main location in fallout 1 and 2(more so 2) but it may have been mentioned in other games before. If so probably new Vegas.

Some of the vault experiments are funny. 😂 I think it was 118 they sold it as luxurious and for rich people to boss around their underlings but the experiment was to see what they do in "stressful situations" so the vault was designed to be extra small so all the rich people had to live in bunk beds maybe 8 to a room and the overseer was gonna be a homeless man named soupcan Harry. His interview tape had him saying things like "the government says not to drink ambraxo cleaner but I know better, you can't tell ME what to do!" 😂
44:06 I played Fallout 4 long ago and, When I watched this and the episode where the Gulper appeared, I struck to me as a new creature created for the show. Later I found out it's from a Fallout 4's DLC that I never played.
Far Harbor, I think! I've been looking forward to doing that DLC for years, but I keep restarting my game any time I've had to take a break LOL
Once again, the show is not an adaptation, but an expansion to the fallout continuity, just in a form of a tv series. Think of it as a fallout 4.5.

I do have to say, and maybe you've covered the fact in the next set (I'll find out fairly soon), but the fact that most of the vaults were an experiment would be confirmed and stated in episode 8.

16:11 in FO4 it was a ghoul boy... that was not maximus... this is east coast california(NCR New Californian Republic) FO4 was in boston at the west coast... and about 70 i think years earlier...

I forgot to mention that Liberty Prime was the inspiration for Power Armor. Love how they pay homage to all the Fallout games. How can liberty prime possibly be an inspiration power armor? The first power armor started production in 2067, they didn’t even start working on the development for Liberty Prime till 2072. Did you mean the other way around?
@@Retrovorious Not possitive really, what I read on it yrs ago said; Liberty Prime was completed but never saw deployment due to its lack of a suitable power source, until Dr. Madison Li solved Prime's power issues in the year 2277, enabling its first deployment.
