    It may be one of the slowest videos on RUclips , but one of the better ones , just the same .👍
    I really enjoyed watching that. I think I would like your life , it`s more my pace and personality.

    Awww I loved this!! That goose is so sweet on you...what a feeling ...she/he is precious! The wood boat is so cool, I was thinking today (because is was unbelievable humid and hot!) that I wanted to take my canoe out...but for me alone it’s something I’ve not done before...but really love the water-was awesome that splash-and then it was you that jumped in!! Very cool vlog! ❤️

    How long does it take the wood to expand, to where it is not leaking?

      It is a fairly ordinary small wooden boat that is traditionally used a lot here in Swedish lakes. Nowadays, people use more plastic boats, of course.
      They don´t see the beauty in wood and tar ..

    The boat seemed to let in a lot of water when you put it in.
    Does this water seepage reduce after the wood swells from being soaked in the water? Or do you just regularly remove the water and plan on having wet feet when you go out? 😁

      They always let in a lot of water when you put it in the water the first time in the spring, the wood swells after a while and reduce the seepage. There are always a little bit of water leaking in, but you can live with that.

      @@Slowlifebythelake okay thank you! I have been looking for info on making a wood boat without artificial paints and whatnot. Yours is the only cideo really showcasing pitch being used large scale.

      I was wondering the same. I'm no boat expert but I wondered if it would help to fill the cracks with pitch and tar. Didn't know about the swelling. That is interesting. Does the inside need tar as well? I was reading about how pine tar is great for waterproofing wood because it keeps the water out and also let's the wood breathe to let out moisture as well. Really cool. I just bought some and was wondering how to apply it which brought me to your channel. Nice life you have! Just what I've always wanted as well.

    How much of pine tar do you think I'd need for a really big version?
    One that holds a lot of people...and food and medicines and beverages
    Im trying to rebuild the ark but the stables will be rooms for people to live

      Hey, hard to tell ? But I would estimate about 1,5 litres for my boat. That is turpentine, tar and linseed oil mixed. 1/3 of each.

  • @bunyip4738
    @bunyip4738 3 года назад +2

    Absolutely fantastic, tak sa mycket. Do you coat in linseed oil before tar, what do you use to caulk to bottom of the boat?

    • @Slowlifebythelake
      @Slowlifebythelake  3 года назад +3

      Thanks, I paint the whole boat with a mixture of 1/3 linseed oil,1/3 turpentine and 1/3 of pine tar, Works fine!
