Consider the fact that the IRS credits businesses about $.50 / mile tells you how expensive it really is to own/ drive a car. That number has proven accurate as far as my experience goes.

Im 18 years old, started working when I was 16. I don’t pay bills or anything but all the money I earned in 2 years went to waste on eating out. I didn’t save, invest in anything important, it’s just all gone 😭
My brother and his family are like that. They refuse to change their mindset. My brother and his wife are getting close to retirement age and they have next to nothing! I am debt free. I tried to tell my brother and sister-in-law to watch frugal channels to learn and make changes...they don’t want to know so l’m just letting them be. Some people cannot be helped!
Nate is basically Graham on roids. You think Graham is frugal and cheap with his homemade iced coffee at something cents per cup, consider Nate just recently bought a beater car and doesn’t even do caffeine. I love both though, they give amazing content
If you change your mindset about money, you tend to make better choices about how to overcome challenges. It’s not debt or a low credit score or limited income that’s holding you back; it’s your perspective that you can’t do any better.
Nate, I just want to say thank you so much for changing my Entire Mindset on money.. You have helped me grow a net-worth of $100,000+ at 21 years old. Thank you for the absolute GOLD of content you provide.
I try to get this into my head, I love collecting things like figures, books, knives and such, I don’t waste all my money there, but I separate a small amount for those, even so, in the long run I would’ve spent way too much on those.
Currently saving 70% of my income. I’m 18 years old, run my own shoe cleaning business and also work nights 5pm - 2:30am. My mum makes my meals so I’m lucky lol. I also don’t drink coffee so tips 1 and 2 don’t apply to me lol. Great video though, big fan of you and the channel 👍🏼
@kbooax It's not worth the "sacrifice" to most people. I'm just saying that seeing the money in my account and knowing the security it brings makes me feel a lot better than the Gucci Belt.

I have two friends (married) who spend only $100 a month on food. Insanity! My wife and I are going to try it, they primarily live with fruits, veggies, rice, and beans 😳
It's definitely possible, but the food can get pretty boring. To me, it wouldn't be worth it long term. But it could work as a short term thing if you're saving up for something or whatever.
I used to do that. It’s tight but doable. Oatmeal and bananas are cheap, so are frozen veggies rice and beans. Even if you spend $200, it’s less than half of what ppl spend. People buy so many chips and sodas, I see them at the store 🤦♀️
Credit cards can be a blessing or a curse for people. I personally love credit cards because I'm able to manage my spending and I can reap the rewards :D
Great tips! 1) Stop wasting money on $5 awful tasting Starbucks drinks everyday. 2) It's delicious, but Brazilian steak houses are for special occasions like birthdays or anniversaries, not just because it is Tuesday. It seems as if people don't care about their future anymore, they only care about pleasing themselves at the moment.
my problem is that i keep buying even though i know i dont like it after 10minutes xD, if i wouldnt bought so much shit over this year i wouldve atleast saved like 10k$
I’m 14 and I got a job a few months ago and I think I do pretty good at saving money. I make sure to put at least 15% of my paycheck into my savings, and the rest goes to checking. I also make that I always have at least $30 in my checking account.
I used to spend a lot of money on technology (computers. Smartphone and videos games) with no reasons. since I quit buying unnecessary stuff I’m doing good and savings a lot of money. Just don’t buy stuff that you don’t need it.
Its all about discipline and being responsible. I have a credit card that i use and pay off every month. My credit score is above 800 right now. I'm currently saving 50% of my income. It makes me happy knowing im not blowing my money on useless stuff and instead its going towards savings.
I’d tell people to use credit cards for all their needs but treat it like a debit card. Start with a secured card for example and then once you’re used to not spending above a limit move to a unsecured one. Plus side is you get money back! Atleast 1%, And that’s money saved. So I totally disagree with your credit card point. 👍🏼 for the rest
chaitanya pattewar I think he is putting it out there to get rid of them since there is a majority of people out there that cannot handle then responsibly
@@AllAmericanHero17 You still a credit card to build credit unless you have loans to pay :) so getting a secured card as Chaitanya mentioned is a good option
I grew up poor. However I still blew money on stupid crap after I joined the military. After my divorce and going from 2 incomes to 1 with a mortgage payment, I quickly became a minimalist without a choice. I'm 36 now and have 2 payed off vehicles and a house. I plan to pay off my house by the time I'm 45 or by the time my son turns 18. Still a single bachelor earning just 60k. NO CREDIT CARDS!!
eating healthy and cooking saves a lot of money. vegetables are so cheap. and if you cook one meal you can eat for days. so you can easily save money. and second big money saver is to wait before you buy something on the internet. you loose interest in buying these stuff if you just wait for a few days.
I agree with most of these points however caffeine is the one thing that keeps me going and I am more productive with it than without it. Get a keurig, never go to Starbucks. Also I am a huge credit card fan. Never carry a balance!
Planing meals is the best way not only to save money but also to stay fit and healthier. Personally I enjoy cooking so for me is easier to plan my meals for the week. Meal planning also saves time and helps you beat those drive-thru (if you have a car) and snack machine temptations. As you meal plan, think about your crazy busy nights ahead of time and put healthy quick-prep dinners on your grocery list. Also, keep some nonperishable snacks in your bag and at work to keep the munchies under control. ☺
Rent instead of buying! Its much easier to keep control of your money if you rent, as you have a set amount of money allocated to rent each month. Owning a home has a lot of variable costs! That's my top tip!
We DEFINITELY need an update on the cooking "skills"! Haha love what you do Nate, and thanks for the valuable information with dashes of entertainment here and there
Okay, one thing I will say you overlooked: With getting rid off caffeine, bulk buy caffeine tablets from a reputable source, will last you a year or more and costs about 2c per 100mg (slightly above a cup of coffee). If you are so desperate to save money you have to save the 2c a day, I think there are bigger things to worry about. This a GREAT option for people that really struggle to kick the habit or just enjoy caffeine too much, it practically cuts the cost to zero and cuts the time each day it takes to have the caffeine to zero.
Has to be talked about! This pandemic slapped some people awake that you should have money saved. At the same time it’s hard to save with those not so high yield savings accounts 😝
Things are never always as good as they seem. But they are never as bad as they seem either. We need multiple streams of income, no matter what the size it.

I agree that vehicles are a huge expense. Just had a $600 insurance bill come in last week, $758 for new tires today, and now a $600-$800 repair I have to do as soon as possible. What a blow to the savings account.
Scooters are an amazingly cheap mode of transportation, the fuel consumption is almost negligible and at least in Australia the registration is only about $100 compared to a cars approx $950 a year. They are extremely simple too so anyone can learn to fix and maintain them eliminating workshop costs altogether
If I lived in a large city where I could get everything I needed in a miles radius I totally would! But I live in Wyoming, granted it’s the capital city but it’s not an environment you’d want to be exposed to the elements. stores and work are pretty far away.

Mine would be lose internet access lol. Amazon, ebay, vudu......
Why do you have two cars if single
@@justadudeintheworldman.120
I live in Texas. Need a truck lol
Wait... NATE *BOUGHT* A CAR?!
The world is just not the same...
And what were you thinking 💭?
Did someone ever told you you look like Pearl from Ru Paul’s Drag Race season 7?
eating healthy and cooking saves a lot of money. vegetables are so cheap. and if you cook one meal you can eat for days. so you can easily save money. and second big money saver is to wait before you buy something on the internet. you loose interest in buying these stuff if you just wait for a few days.
When i first decided to quit sugar it was purely for healthy reasons then i was surprised how much money it saves me.
I like these 5 habits 👍 you will have a lot of money fast 🌝 I love the finance videos
I would love to see the video on coffee. (I drink 20 cent coffee daily, and go to Starbucks maybe once a month or even less often.)
Growth of your investments and how to start investing in etf’s and funds and make a plan while in 20s
Oh I second this comment! I want to see an ETF video by Nate.
My tip to save money: go to Costco at lunch time so you can make the most of the free food samples everyday. Winning.
Great work as usual Nate
I quite caffeine 2yrs now. Food is the real fuel source.
This channel is so underrated. He deserves a lot more reach. Take love from Bangladesh❤
Thumbnail so minimalist, soon it'll just be a white rectangule.
😂
It seems that you don't sleep from a very long time
Rent instead of buying! Its much easier to keep control of your money if you rent, as you have a set amount of money allocated to rent each month. Owning a home has a lot of variable costs! That's my top tip!
That's something that people really don't realize. Owning comes with a lot of accessory costs that you just don't have when you rent.
We DEFINITELY need an update on the cooking "skills"! Haha love what you do Nate, and thanks for the valuable information with dashes of entertainment here and there
Okay, one thing I will say you overlooked:
With getting rid off caffeine, bulk buy caffeine tablets from a reputable source, will last you a year or more and costs about 2c per 100mg (slightly above a cup of coffee).
When life is going well, they'd rather not💔
Things are never always as good as they seem.
But they are never as bad as they seem either.
We need multiple streams of income, no matter what the size it.
But not multiple streams of expenses lol
I like this guy, he is very discipline 👍👍👍👍
You start your week on MONDAY instead of SUNDAY !?!?
*BLASPHEMY !!!*
lol
I have officially broke my spending addiction and it feels good. Nate, you ended up buying a car in another a video. I have to have a car cause my business require me to travel alot in one day.
It’s crazy how we get this guy rich off of telling us stuff that we could’ve told people and made money off of...
He’s got his looks going for him too. People want to see him on RUclips and listen to his advice 😁
Are you eloquent, articulate and can maintain people's attention? No one is stopping you!
The difference is he did and you are just watching and saying “oh I can do that” and not taking action
Alberto Peraza that’s what I’m here to tell y’all, I’m just saying that because I dont think people understand how easy it is to do what he does only thing that you could be missing in credibility. Just so you know I’m 18 and just graduated high school on June 2nd I have things to do
David totally agree, no one is stopping me, I have to find a lot of time and learn how to edit and learn how to thumbnails. Me being a broke 18 year old doesn’t make it easy; not everyone has the resources to just start stuff like this right away.
I agree that vehicles are a huge expense. Just had a $600 insurance bill come in last week, $758 for new tires today, and now a $600-$800 repair I have to do as soon as possible. What a blow to the savings account.
damn
Your tyres are a huge expense 😂😂😂
Gotta have those good winter tires for the snowy Michigan weather, my man 😅@@hpvspeedmachine4183
Scooters are an amazingly cheap mode of transportation, the fuel consumption is almost negligible and at least in Australia the registration is only about $100 compared to a cars approx $950 a year.
They are extremely simple too so anyone can learn to fix and maintain them eliminating workshop costs altogether
Another great video! Your tips are always so well thought out, I definitely need to start planning meals in advance
Tip #1: don't have a girlfriend
If I lived in a large city where I could get everything I needed in a miles radius I totally would! But I live in Wyoming, granted it’s the capital city but it’s not an environment you’d want to be exposed to the elements. stores and work are pretty far away.
Growing up I moved so much because of my mothers poor financial decisions, after years of that you learn to be a minimalist because you have to be ready to pack quick and go. This has stayed with me even as a well-off adult in a stable long term home.
1:51 You mentioned eating a burrito and I almost spit my food out because I'm literally eating a burrito while I'm watching this video. Lol.
😂🤣🤣
This guy is a genius. Thanks Nate for all these tips, not just on this video but your whole channel. It'll definitely help since I'm a 16 year old getting into world of finance soon, who knows where I would be without you.
