What I like best about your videos is how you never try to make people feel stupid if they haven’t yet tried to improve themselves/their circumstances or make them feel bad if they did try but failed to follow thru. You give out gentle encouragement and even pepper in points where you’ve made your own mistakes. I appreciate your approach. I think in the past I have let guilt be my motivator and that never really works out well in the long run because that means always coming from the perspective that everything one does is wrong or bad.

Nate, great post, thanks. Wish I had had more financial advice 30 years ago. One point, the idea of buying a Rolex watch is actually a great investment. They NEVER lose their value. I love to collect things, always have, all of my life. Stamps, coins, knives, historical firearms, etc. And watches. The day I bought my Rolex Submariner (no date), its value was approximately $3,000 MORE than what I paid for it, which was retail through a Rolex dealer. My uncle has a vintage Rolex (Submariner) and it is worth over $20K! Food for thought.

In my opinion, high school and even college fail us as young adults. They do not teach money as a core subject because at the end of the day, that’s how you live is through money. Some people graduating today do not understand the first thing about money management and it concerns me. That is what inspired me to make my channel, it’s new but we’re growing. I love this content on teaching what the schools have failed us all in and that is how to properly manage your money.

I'm from Central Europe and credit cards aren't worth it at all, yet. You have to pay for the registration and monthly fees and on the most expensive ones the benefit usually is only buyer protection and travel insurance. I feel like here they are meant mostly for business owners. But lately there have been few banks which are offering free debit cars with high interest saving accounts.

A credit card has actually been really helpful for me. At first I was really scared to use one, but I've actually paid $0 in interest and fees and made over $200 in bonus points so far this year.
Not only has it built my credit score to almost 800 points, but I don't have to worry about getting hit with overdraft fees like on my debit card.
    Great video as always, Nate!

I would agree showing people your cool expensive looks is not the best ideal thing in the long run but in reality for me I want to look nice when I go out, it gives me the confidence when I speak or talk to girls, now I'm not saying over spending on clothes, I'm just saying looking nice when you go out is a top criteria for me.

    Great video as always!
For retirement accounts, I definitely suggest proceeding with caution. The US stock market is heavily inflated and literally about 25% of bonds world wide have negative yields (which means you are paying people to let them borrow your money, which is nuts..). Do not "set it and forget it." Sometimes financial advisors will tell you it's okay "because you're young" but I don't want to lose money at any age! If you have no idea about the stocks/bonds you are holding, do your research!! Who knows, your advisors might have you in these negative yielding bonds without your knowledge.
Avoiding debt is two fold. If its just consumer debt (like the cars you mention) then I 100% agree (I would even say the mortgages could be considered "bad debt"). But using leverage responsibly could allow you to have control over an income producing asset (like a duplex) that you otherwise would have to save for years to be able to get.

My toaster was $15, my microwave was about $250, oven $600. Money well spent since I use them many times a week and I will get 10-15 years out of them. Don't be a minimalist to that extreme, just be responsible with money and have a real plan.

Where is "Buy Appreciating Assets" like Real Estate ???
    Renting makes other people rich.
So rent or lease depreciating assets when possible and buy assets that appreciate.

  • @ChristysChannelYall

YES on the retirement plan! I am 47 and have prepared only minimally for retirement. I would tell any young person...DO NOT DO THIS TO YOURSELF! Unless you LOVE, LOVE, LOVE what you do for a living you are going to be sick and tired of it when you get my age and be looking forward to being done. I don’t know how I’m going to, but I will figure out a way to retire in the next 10 years. I’m a tiny nurse and my body hurts from pulling and tugging and lifting patients, not to mention the damage from years of working night shifts. I am making so many financial changes FINALLY and I’m getting on track. You are a very smart young man Nate. I have my 17 year old twins watching your videos now and am teaching them the importance of making sound financial decisions at a young age.
