This is an original song that will be available in a full extended version on my upcoming album.
The idea behind this song is that it is an analysis of how concepts like love effect humans. We have instinctual drives that we share with almost all other species of animal. These drives are to find a suitable mate, procreate, and ensure the survival of our offspring so successfully pass on our genes. This is how life works.
So what sets us apart from the rest of the animal species is our ability to self reflect and be conscious of our instincts. When we start to try to explain our existence, we come up with concepts like "God" or "Love" to bring us comfort. In this case, love is used to describe the inclination and urge to find a suitable mate. You can call that urge anything you please, but it is still an instilled instinct.
Sometimes people will be "in love" with someone for a month, and then realize they weren't at all, and then later be "in love" with someone else, so on and so forth. This leads me to think that maybe there is something missing inside of the person that causes them a lack of happiness, to which they try to fill by attaching themselves to another person. They are assuming it is "love" they want, when really it is self satisfaction.
I could go into greater detail, but I will have you interpret love for yourself.

It’s honestly crazy, I first found this song in 8th grade. I’d never been in a relationship but I was in a one sided crush that I was too self conscious to address. I just thought it sounded nice and was talking about how love hurts sometimes.
I’m now a 17 year old Junior, 4 years later. I lost a year long relationship to who I thought was the love of my life at the time but that also ended up one sided. I haven’t listened to this song for four years and I just happened upon it in my old playlist and listened for the nostalgia. I have a completely different perception now. It’s about how even when we’ve been hurt and don’t want to ever be with someone again we always end up with some form of feelings because of our instincts. We don’t know why. But if we deny our instincts then we can’t feel anything anymore. And in reality, love is just an idea. Lust and reproduction is all that it boils down to. Love is just the rule that bind two people and prevents multiple mates. It’s not a love song just as he said. It’s a song of realism

Hm... I somehow ended up back here a day later and I just thought of something.
Humans usually follow a pattern.
Lust: You see someone you really like looking at and being around. Prior attraction leads to conversation.
Infatuation: Fascination with that person, also known as a crush. Feelings start developing and you want to get closer.
Love: You've been through hell for that person and still don't want to murder them. Like you can smile at them and not feel the rageful urge to punch them in the teeth.
So, if you are confused if you love somebody or not, ask yourself.
"Could I live in the same room as this person for a week, never having alone time, or will I be burying them in the woods by Tuesday?"

The history of how people have thought of love is actually really interesting. Our ideas of romantic love are not 'natural', and they're pretty unusual historically speaking. There have been lots of different takes on it throughout history. And some aspects of our ideas come from surprising places. Like 'saving yourself for marriage'? That's directly from the time when offspring of a man were seen as his property and his daughter getting pregnant was a property crime against him because he couldn't sell her for as big of a dowry. 'Saving' is an economic term for something which can be spent, a scarce depletable resource. Even the dialogs between Socrates and Plato about love were really interesting and are still interesting to read today. Every culture has had their own take on it.

I got lost in the feed as I had hundreds or thousands of things I subbed to, yet somehow you showed up when I was in a time of need. It just baffles me how someone as multi-talented and versatile as Rusty isn't world famous.
Same. But at the same time, this stuff isn't for everybody, and that's coming from someone who's favorite artist is Rusty Cage. Scientifically speaking though, it's probably because of his Content having mature elements sometimes, inconsistent upload schedule, not milking what makes him popular, and being generally disliked by RUclips and their Algorithm is what keeps him from being as famous as he is. Though many, including myself, appreciate that. That Rusty Cage still has artististic integrity and makes Music for both sides of the spectrum. Those being Business and a Hobby.
