I'm 110% bassist only. I also collect basses. But, who buys a Tele, or ANY guitar for that matter, and doesn't touch it? Amazing. I could just sit for HOURS, UPON HOURS, and listen to vintage guitar stories. How they were found, bought, sold, etc. Somebody needs to do a documentary on vintage guitar acquisitions.
Two years on from the post and I'm double liking this video...sounds amazing!
Rarely do I see/hear a vintage guitar that I hanker after, but this one has got me drooling...
Wowza! Mine is at the other end of the scale: played in sweaty bars for decades by its original owner. It's been refin'd and even the refin is heavily worn. Massive fretboard staining & darkening. But it's a gem of a player. Think I'd be afraid to take this one out of the house!
Far out man and Jen's giggles are groovy in the mists xxxx
That guitar is amazing 63 years old......unreal...time capsule
Wow what a stunning guitar.
What a beauty !
Beast of Burden. You always play the best songs
Agreed, he picks really good songs to compliment the sound each guitar makes.
Wow beautiful guitar.
Bad Ass! such a Wonderful Sounding Guitar! Beautiful!!
Good job mark..you are great..I know its hard playing for people that suck..I don't blame you for not being at NORMS..they should call it MIKES,NORMS GUITARS
mark your the best guitar teacher ever
Wow that is a sweet tele!
The absolutely cleanest early tele I ever saw spent it's life in the original Fender gig bag. Must've protected it like a condom.
Beautiful time capsule.
he looked almost as if he were about to cry, or felt tears of joy inside right there at the end.
That middle position made my day
I was expecting "This thing has no wear on it whatsoev-"*BANG*
HELL YEAH !!!
Beauty.
yes, the neck pickup sounds like that!
Mark - nice Jerry Reed licks in the end!
nice guitar. Looks great, but does it sound better than a beaten up refretted much used example?
why no backstory on the guitars ever?... who owned them etc
WOW!!!!!
I'd put a 4 or 5 way switch and a phase reverse switch on it to make it more versatile. OMG.
So when's the store changing its name to "Bonamassa's Rare Guitars"?
nope it'll probably be Mark's Rare Guitars when Norm goes ;-)
I doubt it, Norm isn't known for giving things away
TimB4305 even if he was dead? didn't know you can command orders from 6 feet in the ground LOL
NiagaraTim bruh some freaky crap happens at norms rare guitars lol
NiagaraTim his son Jordan will inherit the estate if his father ,why would he give it to Mark?
could you do some lap steel / dobro guitars?
I want it!
Yeah Baby
wow .... If i had a time machine...
Damn Beast of Burden sounded spot on! Please do some Epiphone electrics if you have, like an Olympic, Coronet, Wilshere or Crestwood.
Fully authentic
That's just insane
SWEEEEET!
YOU DO TRADES HEW-MON? IF SO HOW DOES 100 GROSS OF SELF-SEALING STEM BOLTS SOUND?
Geez ..nice...
holy shit that is clean
I love it when Mark breaks out some Jerry Reed.
Looks just like my Baja telecaster. And sounds too!
in the right light you can almost see the Made in Mexico on the back of the headstock ...
myvintagesunburst Yep!
except this guitar is beautiful and is work far over 50 thousand dollars
Desire Awperator
Not my problem
What did it sell for??
It's So clean everyone couldn't stop thinking about aliexpress
whats the price for something like that?=
what's the song he plays at 3:17?
wow serious hardware...
Wired it out of phase for the neck pickup to make it brighter sounding maybe or do the blend tone knob with the tone bypass like Billy Gibbon's 1950 broadcaster tele
It doesn't give you the option of doing both pickups together, so flipping the magnet wouldn't "do shit" as they say!
you can drop the cap to .o22 and wire it like a 54 (after you buy it)
John 5 might go nuts about this lol
haha I just thought the same.
MY GOD!
That instrument appears to have been played very little. Sadly, like Nat King Cole's Mona Lisa, it will probably remain a "cold and lonely, lovely work of art". Nothing but an investment. The reason being the wiring. It is, no doubt, super expensive but rewiring the pickups might jeopardize its monetary value. I have a '52 reissue, which I bought new, that I like a lot. I wanted to give the original wiring a chance but, after about a month, I went with the more modern configuration. The front switch position seemed redundant because you could get the same sound rolling off the highs in the middle position.
Dem Skills
Very respectfully I noticed your left eyelid seems to have a condition of ptosis (drooping of the eyelid). I had the surgery two weeks ago and it went well.
Aliexpress?
song at 3:30?
DAAAAAAMMMMMNNNNNN!!! Everything stock???
that guitar is quite sex.
Borat? Is that you?
Sexy time!
This looks newer than guitars at guitarcenter, wow...
I want that sooooo bad
Mark shines as soon as he starts to really do some pickn.
Does anyone know the song he was playing at 3:01 - 3:04 ?
Zovlo by the sound of it, just some chords off the top of his head. If it's an actual tune then I can't name it just from those few chords
daaayuum
Why does every guy who demos rare vintage guitars where a bunch of rings? I keep hearing it knock against the wood and it drives me nuts.
Obviously, this one is gone, but what does something like this cost?
fng WoW !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOA
That's your dream guitar Mark !! Norm should hook you up bro.
Btw, sweeeeet playing...
just out of curiosity, about how much will that go for? 10s of thousands? hundred thousand? ive seen some 50s fender stuff go for as much as a house.
Probably close to 50K give or take
much more.
That vintage in good condition would be a $50k guitar. In that condition I'd say $75k plus
Yeah, this is like museum quality. This is very, very rare condition. 100k guitar maybe
Ahh that clean shiny bakelite guard. Surpassing in features and condition and desirability, one of if not the best example in the world hence rarity. So a surpassing price. 125k easy - LOL no actually I just one-upped the price I have no idea, they can sit on it and watch it go up till someone offers a Godfather.
So the middle position is just the neck pickup without the cap? Didn't know the first Teles were wired like that.
Yeah, position 3 (neck w/dual capacitor) was used a make-shift 'bass guitar' sound. Sounds like you could also play some Jazz in that position as well.
Leo was a brilliant engineer but sometimes he forgot to add the turbo setting.
They didnt know turbo setting untill buddy guy and jimi
I think it needs to be relic'd.
No
FUCK YE
I was joking in order to make a point.
LMAO!!!!!!
exactly :D:D:D:D:D
How long till John 5 gets it?
He'll be fighting Joe Bonamassa in a pit of jello for it
Not before Danny Gatton's ghost gets it
Chicken pickin is hard bro good stuff!
Cant wait to get my hands on it so i can mod it eith some dimarzios .. my dad is very rich
How long til John 5 buys it?
Ever noticed how every guitar in Norms is "the cleanest" they have ever seen? lol
what song at 3:17 ??
Beast of Burden by the Rolling Stones.
Damn you are really good
Needs a Floyd and humbuckers then it'll be perfect!! (hiding and cringing) LMAO
LOL
I hope Joe Bonamassa enjoys his new guitar
if you have a b bender tele do it next week
No offense Lemmo, but I miss listening to Mark playing vintage guitars.
Every time he takes one out the case I feel like he's gonna bash the headstock on the shelf
Me too
stonesssss
And you paid the original owner how much?
HELL YEA JERRY REED
do a jazzmaster!!
Got those mouth movements
I give it a day.
Chinese copy made a month ago. ;-)
Tony Robinson you're very motivational
ha, think I'll order one..............
Sure it isn't a squier vintage modified?
Is he the 1st person to ever play this guitar?? Lol
Why is it that vintage guitars are worth and revered more when they are “clean” - as in perfect condition - like this one and yet everyone wants a beat up relic and will pay much more for one, as in bashed about by the “Master Builder” ??
Reliced ones are for posers
Looks like a new guitar...
You should buy that one mike
"There is not a mark on it" ............ now it has
I get the feeling Joe Bonamassa already picked it up...
Better call John 5 (Lowrey) ... M
So did John 5 buy this yet?
I saw two "thumbs down" for this vid.... why...???
Jelousy, or Envy.
let's hear some Danny Gatton on it!
The claw with a maj 7 chord, lol
