  • Winter is the best time of year for pruning your yard and timber trees. We have neglected our pruning chores for a few years, so you get to see us doing some catch up. We are working on an old post oak, swamp chestnut oaks (grabby wood!) and a black walnut. This saw is a Husqvarna 525 PT5S, 25 cc.

Well I happened across your channel. I have been an arborist since the '80s. You did a good job with the saw method and with your narration.
I have one of the old original "Power Pruner" pole saws. It reaches out to 17', or telescopes down to 11'. (These are now known as Echo.)
I also have a shorter version from DR, which does the best for me on a daily basis.
All I wish to say is to learn the "3 step cut". He's right about going easy on under cuts. BUT with the 3 step cut you eliminate tearing the bark. Torn bark is hard on the tree.
And he said something important about avoiding "flush cuts" too close to the trunk. Listen, because he told you something important for the tree's future health.
    Good job man!

These are awesome bits of kit.... Good shoulder workout... When a feel the burn.. I just pause and pretend I'm looking for branches to prune but really taking a sly break ha

Hey! No Fair! Your pole saw has a motor. Mine just has a curvy toothed saw blade. It's not long before your arms hurt, your back hurts and your neck hurts from looking up!

Those are cool. But they’ll work you to death as well. Haha

They are good for an old guy who likes to keep both feet on the ground! It works on your arms and shoulders! One tank of fuel and I need a break!
