I played some time ago and the AI suddenly made a man run up to me, telling me I was a ghost and dead all along. From that point on the AI treated me as a ghost no matter what I did or how I tried to alter the story.

This is the reason why I'm looking forward to fully AI generated games. Imagine Crundlequest as an actual videogame!
We're years away from ever being able to completely generate even cohesive stories, let alone games - even this program is proof of that, since inevitably it'll be filled up with so much junk it just breaks down and repeats itself over and over. "Maclanky" isn't a rare bug, it's just the inevitable ending to a session if you don't die or win.
Years yes, but not decades. It’s much closer in the long run, even if the wait feels long.

Nah, I would compare it more to a Xianxia story. Especially with the constant escalation and new realms and such.
My favorite part was when the talking dog in the post-apocalypse turned Joel's adventure into an 80's drug PSA.
"Drugs will make you feel funny, Joel, but in a bad way. You can hurt the people around you who care for you the most! And that's NO GOOD!"
I seriously want to see an YTP adaptation of CDI links adventure. It even follows the same strange logic as a CDI YTP.

To anyone interested in trying AI dungeon, you should look up some tips for how to get the most out of it. As an example, it only remembers things from seven actions ago, so you want to periodically reiterate things that are happening,.
A good thing I found is don't do everything directly. Instead of "Start plans to take over the world" putting in "You understand that the only way to get what you want is to conquer the world". In that sense.
Use the revert function(type revert) if your intended result goes of the rails.
Helped me when my Cthulhu mistery startes taking it's toll on the main character sanity.

The next breakthrough in AI should be regarding remembering significant events further back in time, but allowing minor details to fade unless they become relevant again.
Also use "attempt to" instead giving direct actions. Makes everything more interactive and you don't randomly turn into an op God.
