Thanks Rob. Yes definitely a good job. I wish the camera was filming when I found out as it was quite comical with the disbelief and not understanding of how the whole thing was in my hand!😆
What awful weather especially after your previous video and now the van has started to leak 😫. Good idea to move on especially being on your own , as you say it’s nice to have your own space and company sometimes ( but not all the time) . Wolfie is great company for you and he watches you all the time. I hope the rain stops and you can get tour the sights again. Take care Byyyyeeee 🚐👍
It was relentless for two daus but all you can do is get on with it and have a moan lol. I don't mind being on my own, as I said in the video, I do like it. Normal service resumes on the next video.😊 Wolfie is my best friend.🐾💜🏴
The seatbelt stalk really was a blessing. I travelled in May, to Orkney, then back down through Scotland, to Dorset, it was dry but cool with a constant breeze. I am going to call that Summer.👍
It's rare we visit Scotland in Summer, we normally go between September and early April. I'd love to go to Orkney but not ventured there yet. It's a long way from Dorset, that's for sure! Yes, seat belt breaking then was definitely lucky.
Hey Helen as long as you get your cuppa, everything else can wait, just get those leaks fixed lol 😂 Challenging van life alright 😊keep at it: 🏴🇺🇸🇬🇧🐕🦺😊
Thanks Kimberley. Yes, a real nightmare at the time, especially in the middle of the night. I found a taller vehicle to park next to to give me some shelter and it did the trick. They'll get fixed soon I hope. As I said, they can get you down at the time, but it's just a blip and normal service will resume on the next one.😊🏴
Horrible when the rain finds its way into your space, hope you’re issue gets resolved soon, we too are having issues our fridge freezer has packed up, hopefully sorting it next week when we get to Scotland, had to throw loads of food away as we didn’t notice till it had thawed completely, never mind it’s all sent to try us, take care H and safe trip back 👍👊🚌🥰
Have you been parked mega wonkie? We had ours completely pack up twice, and it's cos of the gases not getting to circulate properly cos of being on the wonk. We had to leave it turned off for a few days, then we moved the van back and forth, braking sharply, to get the gases going again, leave it til the next day and then it started working again. We had to throw food away too, it's so annoying. Yes, these things certainly come to try us sometimes.
@@roaminginraymond did try that but it’s getting cold and then stopping, levelled up and switched off on etc, think it might be thermistor so have one ordered, if not will try the brakes hard trick, 🙏🥰
@wanderingbychoice we originally had a new thermostat as that's what we thought too, but it was the wonky thing lol. It will probably work with the new thermostat, but if it does it again, try the back and forth, braking hard thing to slosh it around and then leave it til the next day for the gases to settle.
It's good that you can manage ok on your own. I'm pretty rubbish at it lol 😆 🙃 weather was pretty rubbish. Hopefully Karl can sort your leaks out and fix the belt. Take care Helen
Hello Helen hasn't Wolfie settled in beautifully, he is so calm. Hope you have had some better weather on this trip not much fun for you. Take care and keep safe xx
Thanks Gilly. He has settled in so well and is such a lovely companion. The weather has improved thankfully! Hope you're doing OK and I'll message you soon. Been a bit hectic! xxx
oh heck Helen. Nowt worse than leaks in a van. It happened in our first van- which was an elddis firestorm and brand new. Literally pouring through the big heki rooflight from driving it off the dealers. both dealer and elddis were total PITA to deal with as they passed the buck backwards and forwards to each other-so not just in older vans. Main thing is though, that you're doing it, getting out making new memories with wolfie. as ever, thinking of you. Much love to you, Karl and wolfie. 🙏- Kenny
Thanks Kenny and lovely to hear from you.😊 It was the kitchen window but don't think I explained that in the video. Don't mention Elddis to us lol, they're useless. Hope you're well and enjoying life and as I said, lovely to hear from you again. Wolfie is a wonderful dog. Nanook is still missed everyday, but Wolfie has helped me through, he's such a comical boy.🐾💜
@@roaminginraymond Ive just spent a really fab afternoon with Steve and Lorna from "wandering by choice" and steve mentioned he'd been chatting to you on the phone.. I did mention nooks and how I was so upset when he went over the rainbow bridge and I was proper moved when you and Karlk scattered his ashes at his fave places. I also said, Id love to meet up with you both and of course Wolfie. He's a big softie so wouldnt have done owt. deffo would love to meet up for a proper chat soon. @viv-i-vangoesforth that's great that you got to meet Steve and Lorna. I did say it would be nice to meet up with them sometime and it would be lovely to meet up with you too Kenny. Sounds like you've had a wonderful afternoon with them. Your messages were always very appreciated Kenny, it was so hard after losing Nook and still is, and you always sent such lovely heartfelt messages. Wolfie has helped get through some really emotional days. Nanook is always missed, but Wolfie is loved loads.
@@roaminginraymond it was a great afternoon, Helen. I think the world of Steve and Lorna and Chancer. weve met a few times now. Ive met up with a few youtubers now. we deffo need to sort something out. It will be good to meet you guys and give Wolfie a hug. I'm glad my messages never upset you and were valued.
It’s good being independent when you want - mind you leaks in the van are a pain and a potential trip ender …. When we had the skylight leaking it was an oh sh1t moment 😂
They certainly are a pain and can definitely end a trip. And trying to dry stuff in a smaller van with nowhere to really dry anything is a right pain too, as you guys probably understand. It's OK in Raymond cos we have a separate shower and a rail to hang stuff to dry. I had the towels hanging out the window when the sun came back out!
Thanks David. Those two days were relentless and not a bit of solar to regenerate the batteries, hence the fridge giving up the ghost. I had to run the engine to get the batteries topped up a bit to get the fridge back on. Karl sorted some of the issues when I met up with him.
14 months in the jazz and lucky never to have moved after settling down for the night, though did once nod off in a howling gale and leave the sun roof open got bit wer when opened interior cover next day lol
Oh no lol, not good. It was just p*ssing in through the window with the wind bashing that side. I thought if I parked next to a taller vehicle it will shelter me and it worked luckily. You do so well living in a car with dogs.
Only just started watching this episode. Oh, Helen that opening view was amazing, along with the gentle lapping of the water (though hardly noticed that due to looking at those mountains, the subtle variation in colours, beautiful). So soothing to my COVID ravaged eyes (bally FLiRT) first time +ive since it all began.
Oh no Andrea, so sorry to hear you have covid. My sister had it a couple of months ago and she'd not had it either, even with going back and forth to the hospital for her cancer treatment, and then she got it out of the blue. Hope you're not too poorly with it and that you feel better soon. Not much to look at in this video either, a part from my face lol, so apologies!
Gosh it seems like a long time ago that your sister was diagnosed. Thought treatment would be behind her by now. Though I know it can take months before even getting started. Then done in 'batches' with gaps. So gruelling. Hope brighter days are ahead for her soon. No apologies needed for the talk, it's all part of the journey. Nearly a week in with the bug, had it a bit rough, need some sleep. Visited the bathroom floor in the middle of last night😢.
No, she has finished her treatment, she has to have a tablet everyday as her cancer was the oestrogen related type. It's been over two years since she got diagnosed but she's OK now, just the tablets and regular mammograms. So sorry to hear you're still poorly a week in, when I got it, I hardly had any symptoms and wouldn't have known I had it if Karl didn't have it in the first place. You're right about the video, it is all part of the journey and I wanted to be honest, not pretend it was all sunshine and beautiful views. You know we always like to be as honest as we can be. You take care Andrea and I hope you're feeling much better soon.❤️❤️
This must be you coming into the spell of bad weather we've been having in June. Nothing worse than leaks that you cannot fathom out the exact location and for your seat belt problem 😱! Hope that's the last of the problems 🤞
Thanks Patricia but I did have more issues lol. It was a miserable couple of days, but the lack of sunshine with the fridge too was a real pain. But it can't rain all the time, thankfully!😁
