Ya...Midori got into fitness competitions not long after Lovebites went on a break, and as you can tell, she has been putting in the work for those competitions, lol.
Anyone thinks Fami isn't a good fit, she'll slap him silly. Anyone thinks Midori can't shred or isn't shredded herself, she'll shred him. Right after this song came out it went to no. 1 in the metal song category and no. 1 in both the metal and rock MV categories on i tunes Japan. I thought the riff in the intro was in 7 or 14 time, and sure enough arranger Mao Yamamoto on his twtr confirmed it's 7/8. They went to their go-to MV director Naoki Takeyama for this vid too. He was introduced to Lovebites by Fuki of Unlucky Morpheus and Mao Yamamoto, both of whom had worked with him previously (Mao in his Light Bringer days).
The fact they can come back with a new bass player with a song this powerful is awesome. Hearing it being played on serius xm all the time is also pretty awesome.
Haruna's machine gun drum tempo on the kit and Fami's style of bass playing complement each other so freaking well. The energy makes me want to break stuff!! This song is so damn good. I didn't think it was possible but it looks like Lovebites has leveled up their game. I think this new album is gonna whoop our asses!!

This song walked up to me and punched me in the face. If this didn't win you over on Lovebites, Thunder Vengeance Live at Zepp DiverCity Tokyo 2020 will, and you should totally react to that, man. It'll melt your brain. It'll also give you a taste of what this band is like live. What I actually find interesting about them is that unlike with some other Japanese bands, Asami sings in English and it's not "Engrish" either, I mean her English is flawless. I have no idea what the deal is with this Japanese bands, maybe it's the mixing but Babymetal does it, Band-Maid does it, Nemophila does it, they ALL do SOMETHING that makes them sound way better live. I also highly recommend reacting to Yousei Teikoku, you're gonna love them.
I think the Japanese music industry just has super high standards, and if you can't meet them you lose support. I remember reading something about how the J-Music industry back in the 70's was criticized for being mostly a poor copy-cat of Western music, and the music moguls heard the message loud and clear and they started letting acts experiment with their own style. I'm not sure if it started back then, but music is considered an important part of K-12 education, and from what I've seen in glimpses of band rooms they include traditional rock instruments, and girls are just as likely to be playing any of them as the boys. That would explain why the music scene is jam packed with all-girl bands, girl fronted bands, and guy fronted bands with one or two girls. And with so many kids playing instruments from a young age, it's no surprise that you have to be REALLY good to be in popular band. And with so many highly talented bands, only the ones who can really bring in a live concert reaches the top tier. And with such super high quality, its no surprise they're becoming popular outside Japan despite the language barrier.

This song walked up to me and punched me in the face. If this didn't win you over on Lovebites, Thunder Vengeance Live at Zepp DiverCity Tokyo 2020 will, and you should totally react to that, man. It'll melt your brain. It'll also give you a taste of what this band is like live. What I actually find interesting about them is that unlike with some other Japanese bands, Asami sings in English and it's not "Engrish" either, I mean her English is flawless. I have no idea what the deal is with this Japanese bands, maybe it's the mixing but Babymetal does it, Band-Maid does it, Nemophila does it, they ALL do SOMETHING that makes them sound way better live. I also highly recommend reacting to Yousei Teikoku, you're gonna love them.
I think the Japanese music industry just has super high standards, and if you can't meet them you lose support. I remember reading something about how the J-Music industry back in the 70's was criticized for being mostly a poor copy-cat of Western music, and the music moguls heard the message loud and clear and they started letting acts experiment with their own style. I'm not sure if it started back then, but music is considered an important part of K-12 education, and from what I've seen in glimpses of band rooms they include traditional rock instruments, and girls are just as likely to be playing any of them as the boys. That would explain why the music scene is jam packed with all-girl bands, girl fronted bands, and guy fronted bands with one or two girls. And with so many kids playing instruments from a young age, it's no surprise that you have to be REALLY good to be in popular band. And with so many highly talented bands, only the ones who can really bring in a live concert reaches the top tier. And with such super high quality, its no surprise they're becoming popular outside Japan despite the language barrier.
