I received a fake PDM Layton yesterday from Fragrance X. The packaging was perfect. Serial number on bottle matched the box even. However, there was marks like a vise grip or channel locks had removed the atomizer. The juice smelled like Layton but you could bathe in this stuff and not smell it by the time the hit the door. Be very careful where you buy this from.
I never heard of fakes from FragranceX. Please send pictures of this fragrance to Parfums de Marly, you can find their contact info on their official web page, they will take it from there. You can tell them I asked you to do that. Thanks.

@@kirkd.6694 It was never confirmed to be a fake, however, it was certainly tampered with. PDM would never let a gnawled up bottle like that out of the factory.

At 1:30 - the Parfums de Marly embossed type seems a bit more pronounced on the real bottle. At 1:55 - the bottom label font of the fake seems to be a brighter color and the fake bottle has an embossed number or dots (as previously mentioned in another comment) under the label while the real one doesn't seem to have any. 2:25 - the embossed typeset and the texture of the top of the caps seem a bit different. Is there a logo on the inside of the Parfums de Marly cap? 2:46 - Not only is the fake atomizer shorter, but it doesn't have the pronounced ridge at the bottom of the atomizer like the real one does. It also doesn't appear to be fitted flush against the bottle. How long did the fake one last if I may ask (if you didn't wash it off ASAP). The batch code of 532301 (August 3, 2015 bottle) is a possibility because manufacturers frequently cook up batches a number of months before release. A 2016 release date can also mean it was shipped in Nov. or December of 2015 to distributors before heading to retail. However, if Layton was released in the 2nd quarter of 2016, I doubt that batch code was legitimate.
I wash my hands as soon as I'm done filming. Yes, batches are manufactured a few months earlier than their release dates. Shipping takes some time so they must have the products already in place by release date.

This isn't entirely true. I purchased a bottle of Layton direct from PdM back in 2017 and it has a 2015 date on the box. Sometimes manufacturers print boxes and produce batch codes earlier than the actual release date.
What are you talking about? You have not a fake, but a tester variation. It has written on the box that this is a tester. Testers are used in boutiques coz, they a bit cheaper just for perfumes demonstration. You should read about it.

How do I spot a fake tester fragrance? Do all of them come with batch numbers, so I can ask the seller a picture with the batch number? I feel that sometimes the seller sells fake testers with white/yellow boxes and if someone asks abou the authenticity, he replies "Oh, it`s supposed to be like that, it`s a tester". Thanks!
Marius Suru Ofcourse you can ask the seller for some pictures. Take a close look at the fake tester from my video, you will be able to spot the fakes for sure.
Did anyone else notice that when he shows the bottom of the bottle the authentic label is on crooked AF, not to mention it's WRONG about the volume. It says 125ml - 2.5 fl. oz. that's 4.2 oz. I don't know if this is bad qc or what.

Stay away from testers. The chances are high it is fake. It is always much easier somehow to justify faults in materials or quality of the juice on testers, so fakes are usually sold as "testers".

I just placed an order for a tester Layton bottle online and am still waiting for it to arrive. Seller is selling to me at USD 174, much cheaper than usual retail prices, and has agreed to receive payment upon successful shipment and receipt. Just wondering if there's any other way to authenticate the product as I've yet to pay it and hope to not pay for a fake. Much Thanks!
If you watch the video you will find all info you need to identify an authentic Parfums de Marly. I can not know if the seller you talk about has authentic products. Can you share a link with pictures of the fragrance ?

My bottle of Kalan looks legit, except it only has a batch code on the bottle, not the box. I wish I knew If mine was fake. If it is it’s impressive. Everything is embossed, card inside, upc on bottom box, heavy ass cap with nice mirror shine, good sprayer that looks exactly like the authentic here, with the ring elevated just above the paint...I don’t know 🤷🏻♂️ I’m going to assume mine is authentic. I stand corrected...there is a lot number on the box that matches. I think I’m good!!
I've noticed that there is a like a screw sort of thing inside the caps of the originals while all fakes I've seen don't have it. could you confirm if the cap of the fake one have it or not? I saw the screw thing in your original cap, but I couldn't check it on the fake

@@juanvicencio2390 I think you are talking about the "snap on", not screw. The cap snaps on authentic, it has inside the cap three wrinkles that go on the same circle. I remember the fake having snap on as well.

There are lots of fake sellers, what is important for you is to watch to video and learn how to spot the fakes, it doesn't matter where it is from as long as it is fake.
The one from the left is straight from Parfums de Marly. It is authentic. It had a mistake in size on the sticker. The one from the right is fake that comes in the form of a tester, a fake will be a fake regardles
The cap has 116 gr, the box has 153 gr. I can not weigh the bottle because I used it quite frequently. Check the weight I mentioned in the video of the entire presentation and eliminate the box and cap. It should help. Keep in mind these are the measures for the 75 ml presentation.
I ordered Delina off of an online discounter and I think it’s a fake how can I know for sure? For example, the one I ordered from discounter, the bead attached to the tassel won’t move at all whereas my exclusif that I got directly from PDM does move. Presentation and packaging are almost identical including caps, however the online one was dusty inside the lid and the font is not as bold as the one on the exclusif which was bought from PDM site. I’m not sure if the boldness of font has to do with the exclusif being a flanker or if they’re supposed to be the same font?
Autenthics may be changed with time when it comes to aesthetics. If you bought it from an authorised retailer you must not worry. Post some pictures on IMGUR and send here the link so I can take a look. Make high res pictures.
Fragrance Tattoo how can I upload pictures to there? What is the link for that? And this was an online discounter site. I spoke with manager of pdm, and she said they are not an authorized seller and doesn’t know where they would get the products from. But I feel that would also apply to any place that sells them for discount including fragrancex, fragrancenet etc. They only authorize certain stores which sell for full retail

ali al omari the question would only have a subjective answer. There are lots of great releases from Parfums de Marly: Oajan, Nisean, Pegasus, Layton, Herod ... and so on
I do present on my videos many aspects of the comparison between a real and a fake. If you have a box that looks like a legit one and matching batches on bottle and box could mean that you are on the right track, but look at the other aspects as well, fakes look better lately, could fool many people. First, start buying from authorised sellers, this way you eliminate from the beginning a lot of the hustle you could get into.
@@tattoofun2003 I did buy it from a legit online seller in the uae (souq.com) but I am kind of paranoid that the bottle was filled with another perfume since I never smelled layton, I was wondering if it has a woody/musky smell to it.
@@0_aaeaeb369 Look at the celofane of my authentic. If your looks the same than it is ok. If the quality of the box and bottle is there along with the nice smell than you got the real deal.
@@tattoofun2003 Yea...the top notes is a dead give away. The fake one doesn't have that full-on peppery smell. Also, spray the inside of the cap, let it dry down, put the cap back on the bottle and smell it 30 minutes later. It should smell vanilla-is/pepper and somewhat sweet.
Hey, on your real bottle it shows 125 ml - 2.5 fl oz which is wrong. That real one is possibly a fake. Never seen a misprint like that. Also the bottle’s mold creases are not symmetrical at all…
Hello everyone! I have a question whose answer I havent been able to find. Many reviews from famous youtubers show PDM layton (Original) and the 78% batch says 2015 at the botton of the box. If it was realeased in 2016 why does it says 2015? (Including the "Original version in this video") says 2015. why? Can anyone help me out with that?

@@TheKobeallen 9 should be 2019. If your fragrance was released earlier than 2009, it can also be a 2009 batch. The QR might not be on every box. If you bought your fragrance from a reputable seller you shouldn't worry about buying a fake. But if you bought it from a shady source, you should worry. If you have doubts about it beeing authentic you should send it back to the seller.

What you must do is report the seller to EBay and your local police department. They will start a file here and send it to police from the place from where the fake was shipped from.
I wash my hands as soon as I finish shooting the video so I can not know how long the fake lasts. The authentic has good perfomance, I am happy with it.
Lefteris Fotopoulos I do spend a lot of time tracking fakes, sometimes it does pay off. There are other Parfums de Marly fakes out on the market. I will try to find some that don't have the simple white box. Hopefully I will expose those as well.
I just seen a Godolphin box that says "EAU DE TOILETTE" wear it should say "ROYAL ESSENCE". The box also says "4,2 FL.oz" instead of "4.2 fl.oz" Some poor guy bought it for $110
Just to let you know, the one you call authentic is fake as well. if you look closer at the label on the bottle where it says e125ml next to it it says 2.5 fl. oz and should be 4.2 oz.. So anyone can tell now that you got ripped off too ha ha ha ha
Layton is very much all year round, can be used for most of the year. The best seasons would be spring and early fall. Can work also in summer but not quite in those super hot days. You can use Layton Exclusif for late fall and winter.

Yes, that would be best 1 on 1. But since I do not own a tester bottle of PdM and I only found a fake in the form of a "tester", I did it the best I could at that moment. Thank you for watching !

No. A lot of fakes are sold as "testers". This way they can explain faults in quality. Where would all the testers come from ? There are more testers than actual fragrances, watch out for these "tester" scams.

It might be because it is just released this year. 7 letter batches are new, the websites you checked on don't have the new algorithm. Some times it takes a while for these websites like checkfresh or checkcosmetics to update batches for each manufacturer. Where did you buy it from ? Was it a reliable source ?

@@jesselewis5699 FragranceX is legit. Performance depends on what type of weather you have where you live and also it depends on humidity. These are not major factors though. If a fragrance has strong performance it will perform in any type of environment with some adjustments that depend on some factors like the ones I mentioned.

Why would you buy a fake ? Fakes don't follow any Healthcare Legislation, they contain chemical compounds that can cause serios health problems to you skin or respiratory system.
Hold the phone! You're 2.5oz real bottle came out of a 4.2oz box. WTF? Then, you're comparing that 2.5oz with a fake 4.2oz bottle. I think you have two fake bottles but the one on the left is a good fake. Besides, why did you not get a 4.2oz real to compare? Not a good video for people with 4.2oz bottles. I think this video is BS. If what you're saying is somewhat true (at this point I can't trust you anymore but oh well), anway, you can clearly see the detail is different in the manes, eyes, and ears of the horses. I think the weight of the cap differs slightly from certain batches between the 2016- 2018. I'm not entirely sure though. I have an authentic bottle and the cap comes in at 125g and the bottle is 460g without the box. With the box, it comes in at 520g. The package is identical to your with the insert and presentation. Everything about the bottle, including the slight wrinkle on the top left and right corners of the bottle, is the same. My batch is a 2017 batch. Also, notice the bottoms, the bottom of the real one has a rotated oval shaped seam that surrounds the sticker while the fake one is even and uniform. Mine is aligned and uniform and not rotated. The fake has those distending bumps on the bottom on either side of the label. Mine does not have that.
Ale Bisco I answered this question many times. I spend a lot of time looking for fakes...and a lot of money. I'm into fragrances since mid '90s. I do this as a hobby. I do not tollerate fakes. My work should help others and make them aware to spot fakes before spending their cash on them.

removing if the spray bottle is inside, the original is made of rubber or iron under the spray bottle
The vertical tube is white made from plastic but the collar and base is all made from metalic aluminium.

I recently bought a 75ml layton from a reputable retailer but it has no batch code on the box at all, isn't that a bit odd?
Maybe it has been printed on the darker side at the bottom, look for it, maybe shine your phone lantern ot the bottom.

The one from the left is straight from Parfums de Marly. It is authentic. It had a mistake in size on the sticker.

There might be weight diferences in the authentic caps. As long as you bought it from a reliable source it is all ok.

What's the weight of Layton exclusif full bottle without cap?
The cap has 116 gr, the box has 153 gr.
I can not weigh the bottle because I used it quite frequently. Check the weight I mentioned in the video of the entire presentation and eliminate the box and cap. It should help.
Keep in mind these are the measures for the 75 ml presentation.

I ordered Delina off of an online discounter and I think it’s a fake how can I know for sure? For example, the one I ordered from discounter, the bead attached to the tassel won’t move at all whereas my exclusif that I got directly from PDM does move. Presentation and packaging are almost identical including caps, however the online one was dusty inside the lid and the font is not as bold as the one on the exclusif which was bought from PDM site. I’m not sure if the boldness of font has to do with the exclusif being a flanker or if they’re supposed to be the same font?

I spoke with manager of pdm, and she said they are not an authorized seller and doesn’t know where they would get the products from. But I feel that would also apply to any place that sells them for discount including fragrancex, fragrancenet etc. They only authorize certain stores which sell for full retail

As you can see the exclusif (which is for sure authentic) font is bolder where it says parfums de marly Paris not sure if it’s cause it’s a flanker or not.

Layton cap has 117gr, Layton Exclusif cap has 115gr, Habdan cap has 126gr.

Is there any other way of knowing if it is fake or real if I have a legit looking box and bottle with matching numbers?
I do present on my videos many aspects of the comparison between a real and a fake. If you have a box that looks like a legit one and matching batches on bottle and box could mean that you are on the right track, but look at the other aspects as well, fakes look better lately, could fool many people.
First, start buying from authorised sellers, this way you eliminate from the beginning a lot of the hustle you could get into.
@@tattoofun2003 I did buy it from a legit online seller in the uae (souq.com) but I am kind of paranoid that the bottle was filled with another perfume since I never smelled layton, I was wondering if it has a woody/musky smell to it.
@@0_aaeaeb369 Look at the celofane of my authentic. If your looks the same than it is ok. If the quality of the box and bottle is there along with the nice smell than you got the real deal.
@@tattoofun2003 Yea...the top notes is a dead give away. The fake one doesn't have that full-on peppery smell. Also, spray the inside of the cap, let it dry down, put the cap back on the bottle and smell it 30 minutes later. It should smell vanilla-is/pepper and somewhat sweet.

Hey, on your real bottle it shows 125 ml - 2.5 fl oz which is wrong. That real one is possibly a fake. Never seen a misprint like that. Also the bottle’s mold creases are not symmetrical at all…

Hello everyone! I have a question whose answer I havent been able to find. Many reviews from famous youtubers show PDM layton (Original) and the 78% batch says 2015 at the botton of the box. If it was realeased in 2016 why does it says 2015? (Including the "Original version in this video") says 2015. why? Can anyone help me out with that?
Batches can be manufactured in 2015 in order to be sold in 2016. Every fragrance is manufactured at least a few months earlier than it's release date. My batch is 2017. It starts with number 7.
The "© 2015 Parfums de Marly" text at the bottom of the box means that 2015 is the year the company registered the copyright on that intelectual property.

@@TheKobeallen 9 should be 2019. If your fragrance was released earlier than 2009, it can also be a 2009 batch.
The QR might not be on every box.
If you bought your fragrance from a reputable seller you shouldn't worry about buying a fake. But if you bought it from a shady source, you should worry. If you have doubts about it beeing authentic you should send it back to the seller.

If you have a fake you can not sell it. What you must do is report the seller to EBay and your local police department. They will start a file here and send it to police from the place from where the fake was shipped from.
How long did the real one last and how long did the fake last?
I wash my hands as soon as I finish shooting the video so I can not know how long the fake lasts.

Lefteris Fotopoulos I do spend a lot of time tracking fakes, sometimes it does pay off. There are other Parfums de Marly fakes out on the market. I will try to find some that don't have the simple white box. Hopefully I will expose those as well.
I just seen a Godolphin box that says "EAU DE TOILETTE" wear it should say "ROYAL ESSENCE".
The box also says "4,2 FL.oz" instead of "4.2 fl.oz"

Layton is very much all year round, can be used for most of the year. The best seasons would be spring and early fall. Can work also in summer but not quite in those super hot days.
You can use Layton Exclusif for late fall and winter.

It might be because it is just released this year. 7 letter batches are new, the websites you checked on don't have the new algorithm. Some times it takes a while for these websites like checkfresh or checkcosmetics to update batches for each manufacturer.

Performance depends on what type of weather you have where you live and also it depends on humidity. These are not major factors though. If a fragrance has strong performance it will perform in any type of environment with some adjustments that depend on some factors like the ones I mentioned.

If what you're saying is somewhat true (at this point I can't trust you anymore but oh well), anway, you can clearly see the detail is different in the manes, eyes, and ears of the horses. I think the weight of the cap differs slightly from certain batches between the 2016- 2018. I'm not entirely sure though. I have an authentic bottle and the cap comes in at 125g and the bottle is 460g without the box. With the box, it comes in at 520g. The package is identical to your with the insert and presentation. Everything about the bottle, including the slight wrinkle on the top left and right corners of the bottle, is the same. My batch is a 2017 batch. Also, notice the bottoms, the bottom of the real one has a rotated oval shaped seam that surrounds the sticker while the fake one is even and uniform. Mine is aligned and uniform and not rotated. The fake has those distending bumps on the bottom on either side of the label. Mine does not have that.
