The mall I grew up going to every weekend with my mom is basically abandoned now and was used to film the last season of Stranger Things. There's like 3 stores left and one is an Asian grocery store, 90% of the lights don't work, and dead bodies have been found in the food court. That place creeps me out so much.
It’s actually ghetto af. There’s been multiple shootings there recently. Almost got kidnapped there a few years ago too (was aggressively followed out to my car and they pulled their hooptie up to mine while I was sitting there sorting wtf had just happened). It’s FAR from nice.
I was born in Omaha in 90’, seeing this mall is giving nostalgia, I moved in 94’ but still go back to see my family rarely, went to this mall the last time I was in homaha:)
This shows that Lucas can in fact be mature when he needs to be. Whenever he's on jakes channel he's such a different person! Calm collected quiet respectful like he doesn't take over or make him say certain things Like he literally doesn't say anything unless asked and I'm so here for it!!!
Reminds me of when I worked at Netflix and the office they outsourced to was set up in a mall from the 70s/80s that had been converted into corporate offices. Honestly I'd love to see more of these old malls get "upcycled" or whatever instead of just trashing them. The massive parking lots could easily have solar panels put up to power the building and keep the cars cooler.
You could go to the papillon (Washington st) location target which is the first target in America and they never renovate it. I go there because I don’t want to go to the target location I work at.
Omg I live in Omaha and the mall that you were planning on going to the one on 72nd and dodge connected to the target. They just destroyed that. I was shook. But yeah the oak view mall I don’t really ever go to any of the malls in Omaha anymore.
If this mall were truly stuck in the 90s the Hot Topic would still look like a portal to hell with goth clothes in it and not a steampunk warehouse selling anime merch to Tumblr fangirls
I really wish that y’all could see the mall that I used to work at 8 to 10 years ago. While there isn’t any 90s or even really any early 2000s nostalgia attached to it/it’s design, it’s CRAZY how sad and *dead/empty* it is. (Especially since it’s still up and running! Er... limping, rather.) Anyway, it’s a huge, *SINGLE STORY* (which was _such_ a bad idea. The amount of walking to make it to every store you’re interested in is _insane._ I’m sure that there were _tons_ of people who avoided going there from the jump simply because they were physically unable to traverse it.) mall (Or, as it was officially named/called, a huge “galleria”. Whatever. LOL) located about an hour north of _gorgeous_ Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. And, at this point in time, out of the _hundred +_ store fronts there, roughly *80 - 85%* are straight up closed. Of course you’ve got a bunch of your usual suspects that are closed down/empty. Such as Aeropostale (Which is where I managed at for FAR too many years. BARF. I hated it there sooooo badly.), Sears (It was a “Sears GRAND” to be exact. LOL) Wet Seal, Pac Sun, Journey’s, Lids, Spencers, Payless, J.C. Penny’s, B.A.M., etc. But there are also *tons* of still fairly relevant retailers that also got shut the F down. (I mean, “relevant” as far as I know. I no longer give a shit where my clothes come from, as long as I like them. Yet, I still end up spending *waaaay* too much money at Urban Outfitters somehow. Sons of bitches. LOL) Victoria’s Secret? Closed. H&M? Closed. Justice? Closed. Yankee Candle? Closed. Foot Locker? Closed. American Eagle? (Which is a *huge* company ‘round these parts.) Closed. Even with all of these stores closed, the most shocking part to me, was the food court. There are probably 8 or 9 different “restaurants” there and every last one of them is closed down entirely. Sbarro, Taco Bell, Panda Express, Subway, Charley’s. ALL OF THEM!! Which is something I don’t think I’ve ever seen before anywhere. (And it really proves/drives home just how dead/“abandoned” this place is.) As far as open stores, there’s Dicks, Claire’s, Bath & Body Works, Hot Topic, the world’s smallest, shittiest Macy’s, a few other places everyone knows, as well as a few extremely random stores that aren’t national chains and are just owned by someone’s Uncle Joe, who’s trying his best to take advantage of (presumably) dirt cheap rental fees, even though there’s almost 0 foot traffic. The biggest draw to the mall (I’m sorry, _galleria._ lol) is probably the nice, big movie theater there. But due to the pandemic, I’m *sure* that they aren’t doing too hot these days either! (I’m also assuming that the Starbucks located directly beside the theater, with it’s own entrance/exit, is still open as well. But who knows considering the fact that it _doesn’t_ have a drive through and, those of us who aren’t total morons/assholes, have been trying our best to social distance for the past year.) Anyway, it is truly something to behold. I _highly_ suggest that if anyone is near the Pittsburgh area and wants to check out a sad, damn near fully abandoned mall, as well as get a shit ton of exercise in via an absurd amount of walking, that they/you check out the *Galleria at Pittsburgh Mills.* But do be warned, shit is depressing AF if you aren’t in a good mood!! If you are though, it’s a crazy sight to behold!! (Oh, and I forgot to mention that there _are_ a couple places that have, like, a church or an army recruiting center, some sort of trade school/classroom, etc in them! I would, however, say under 5 or so of those types of places exist.) Anyway, y’all definitely need to figure out a way to check it out!! I would *love* so see a video on it featuring _charismatic_ RUclipsrs. (Seeing as charisma is usually where the ball is dropped when I’m finally able to find someone who has adventured into the specific places near me. LOL) Much love!!!
As a Nebraskan it’s hilarious watching this. Crossroads just got destroyed because it has been dead for years and they’re revamping the area. Oak view I actually like but it’s slowly dying. I hope they can do something to save it because just having west roads would suck. And nebraska crossing is too expensive for me 😂
I went to the closed off part of Crossroads before they tore it down and it was really creepy ngl. The security guard brought us up there is she was talking about how someone got stabbed up there years ago and the blood was still there 😬
