I heard if you spend too long at the sears closing sale you become a part of the sale and you turn into a microwave sitting on a shelf and thousands of people walk by you but never buy you. Be careful
They're respectful, rule following young men, but I wish they would have explored the closed off area behind the curtain. I was enjoying the backrooms vibes lol
I genuinely remember as a child .. like a fever dream .. being with my grandma and aunt in sears in canada and we went to this middle area that was like this office in the centre… i think we were there for fabrics or something… but i genuinely got to see the catalogues in the very early 2000s and some of the old editions were there aswell and they told me about how it used to be primarily ordered to the customer. Some warehouse areas or show rooms but primarily you would do the catalogue. Also out at a cabins I went to growing up the guys there had old catalogues and magazines in the outhouses. Some pieces are tapes/pinned to the walls. Really crazy and cool to see the old prices and things. I also gladly own one of my omas faux leopard coat that is from the time hudsons bay would have these things but you could get your initials embroidered inside. Prior to her passing I have found a few in thrift stores up here aswell from that era.
fun fact the sears in palm beach gardens just recently got shut down even tho they actually had the rest of their lease. i worked in the gardens mall and whenever i was walking around in my time off i would always pass by the sears because i wouldn’t know if it would be my last time or not. thank you for making this video, especially as a local i really found it funny!
I remember as a little one being TERRIFIED of getting eaten by excalators. My mom would scream at me for acting like a child. I was like 4 years old and she'd get on and leave me at the bottom crying.
As a kid my shoelace got stuck in an escalator and I lost my shit! I was always nervous on them after ad then final destination sealed the deal for my fear 😅
dying retail is one of my niche' interests so thanks for this. There's just something about exploring dying stores that used to be so full of life. Sears has been around so long that it's surreal tbh lol. Like when I went to kmart right before it closed here - I had so many memories there and it was just kinda haunting to see it so empty
So much American culture revolves around consumerism- watching it die out implies the death of an era & certain traditions and rituals being abandoned. Just think of the absolute grip Macy's has on Christmas 🎄
I'll miss Sears. I remember buying a Sears Kardashian brand dress back in the day & thinking I was such a baddie when I wore it to my cousin's engagement party 😂
I am an 80's baby, we had not only Sears, but Sears Outlet, which was the discount sears. My mother may have single handedly kept that store in business. Ah, nostalgia.
Sears should make a movie were the final customer goes into Sears one last time and no clip into the backrooms. Through out the movie the customer must navigate through the sears store in various time decades, while avoiding typical/crazy retail moments that happened within that store in the past. My brain go brrr.
Had a Sears near me for 20 years, but the last 5 years it was just like the one you visited. I always liked going there, cause I'd likely be the only customer. You'd know it was a big sale day if there were 10 cars in the parking lot. It finally closed last year. BTW, a little late, but Happy Birthday Jacob!
i have a core memory at a sears. we grew up really poor, and my parents got their first mobile phones in the early 2000s, my dad took his first ever selfie in front of the gym equipment in a sears.
The sears by me closed down and they were trying to sell all of their stuff (including shelving and mannequins) so I bought a mannequin from them and I loved it so much I named him Terry. Rip Terry I had to say goodbye to him when my house burned down. I miss him I want a new mannequin but I feel bad replacing Terry
My parents met working at Sears in the 80s. So I guess you could say Sears is my origin story. Also, the story…They had been working at sears as teens and my dad’s friend told him he was going to ask out my mom… he walked over and my mom could tell. So like the hot girl she is, she knew what she wanted and before he asked she told Doug she thought my dad was cute. Poor Doug told my dad and the rest is history…. My dad did get Doug’s blessing and from what I hear he is doing fine these days.. so don’t feel too bad for Doug.
the sears rebrand is just a green airbnb logo? i haven’t been to a sears in over 10 years but the last time i was there i bought a pair of heels for a wedding i was attending and then i ended up fainting outside of the venue and peed my pants a little but anyway ill never forget that kardashian line 😭 the terrible bodycon, chevron, animal print and wide belts. truly iconic 💫
I am so thankful to have found you guys' content recently. You're both so effortlessly funny and fun to watch, feels like I'm hanging out with a couple friends:) much love!!!!!!
I WAS WONDERING THIS TOO?? I thought I was the only one who caught that 😭 Maybe his voice is a character like Fred and he’s been hiding his real voice ??
When I was a kid, there was a Lazarus in the mall with a restaurant that overlooked the whole thing! It was always my dream to eat in that restaurant. I imagined it was the height of fancy. But then it shut down before I ever got to eat there, crushing my one childhood dream. Your idea of a restaurant on top of Sears reminded me of that!
The Sears near me had a McDonalds inside and it was peak. I remembered going there and had so much fun there. There was original and famous elevator brand in there.
“Jacob got to have his fun in the little baddie, thotiana young-men section” 😂 but I promise, Lucas, you are DEFINITELY not part of the business man demographic… 💀
My mom loved their shoe section so I remember getting shoes from there often as a kid. She was devastated when they closed but Mervyn's closing hit her harder.
16:08 you put the ribbon under the batteries, that way when you need to take the batteries out you just pull the ribbon instead of trying to pick at the batteries
I work in malls all throughout FL. It's crazy cuz sears is closing, and the malls can't put anything new in those units because sears still owns them. They have sold off a lot of those units but I can think of 5 malls off the top of my head were sears left but still owns the unit and the mall is just stuck with this giant empty space they can't touch. A lot of people don't realize that the larger units are often owned by the stores in them. Sears, jc penny, Macy's, Barnes and nobles. They are technically private property to the company that owns them. I don't understand closing a store but continuing to own the property. It's not from a lack of interest in the units. So many companies are begging for those spots.
This is my home town sears (gardens). It was always funny to me that one of the last Sears is in one of the wealthiest malls. The Sears is officially closed now. The mall has been trying to get rid of it for years as it didn’t fit their luxury aesthetic. There’s some good videos out there of people exploring this Sears auto building, it was left untouched.
Sears died when middle class America did. 🇺🇸 These stores arent relelvant to the lower/higher class. People with money will just fork out for full-priced luxury products& everyone else is too broke for appliance purchases. RIP
You’re supposed to put the batteries on top of the ribbon in the battery compartment so when you need to take out/replace the batteries you pull on the ribbon to help pop out the batteries and you don’t have to dig the batteries out
Love how you channel is slowly becoming a documentary about the slow death of physic store with the inevitable rise of online shopping in a late stage capitalism world ridden with inflation
I worked at this exact store (Palm Beach Gardens) in the shoe department in the late 90s when I was a teenager and I also worked for Sears in MA & TX too. We got paid 7-10% commission on the shoes and you could make really good money, and the place was really nice (exact same location in your video) where it was the type of service where one of each of the shoes were nicely displayed and we’d go find them for the customers in the back room. Eventually I knew almost every shoe we sold and where to find it our back, I had a lot of fun working there.
I worked at Sears before it closed. Ours was from the 50's and it had a restaurant at one point. It was so cool to walk around and find secret rooms. There was one room that was narrow and had metal stairs. Multiple employees had seen a ghost there. I had good memories working at Sears. RIP to our Sears
clicked so fucking fast KSKSNJSKMS. I've been binge watching sm of the old vids and HHAHAHA it's so nice the style is still pre much chaotic vibes Idek tf is Sears but I was so entertained
I find this so funny cus in Mexico sears thrives xD there is one in my city and it's allways packed ( Mexicans consider sears as kind of an exclusive store just because it's out of country , it's kind of a boomer thing) so come to Mexico and visit the hundreds xD
omg the little ribbon in the battery compartment is to help get the batteries out. You put it under the batteries and when you need to take them out you pull the ribbon up
What destroyed Sears is the alleged increased competition with other big-box retailers and the rise of Amazon and online shopping took a bite out of Sears' profits. Within the company, tensions were brewing between lower-level management, employees, and Eddie Lampert selling off what made Sears, Sears. Honestly the only thing that would have given Sears a chance to thrive-not merely survive-was to have either launched their own home improvement warehouse concept or to have acquired Home Depot or Lowes's at a time when they were falling in sales and merged them. Sears could've been a big comeback and excel, but it's just over priced poor quality and empty stores now.
When I was a child, I used to think that sears were for "rich people." Some clothes were cute and wanted to wear it but couldn't because my mom didn't want me to wear it. I'm tempted to go and get clothes I've always to wear
I heard if you spend too long at the sears closing sale you become a part of the sale and you turn into a microwave sitting on a shelf and thousands of people walk by you but never buy you. Be careful
I've heard the same thing.
Jokes on you the sears where I live is open still
Nvm they ain't open in new york anymore, I think their last store here closed of this year in jan
Woah the gummies just hit
It’s true! It happened to my mom 😂
sad how the bag said “125 years” so it was from 2018 but I guess they haven’t had enough customers to use them all over the last 6 years
They're respectful, rule following young men, but I wish they would have explored the closed off area behind the curtain. I was enjoying the backrooms vibes lol
I love the defunct store boys ❤
I genuinely remember as a child .. like a fever dream .. being with my grandma and aunt in sears in canada and we went to this middle area that was like this office in the centre… i think we were there for fabrics or something… but i genuinely got to see the catalogues in the very early 2000s and some of the old editions were there aswell and they told me about how it used to be primarily ordered to the customer. That second sears is incredibly organized wow
Lucas's BBL walk
Sears was my childhood 😢
2:11 is the Sears in my hometown, it still sits there today but ofc - it’s closed and the building looks like it’s rotting
i so bad want to hang w you guys for an afternoon lol
Cruikshank Dan Bell collab. The red ribbon stops the battery inside from connecting to the leads otherwise it would drain
Ahhhh love sears
Instead of a blowout sale they should try a haggling sale where people can just try to haggle for prices they want.
As a kid my shoelace got stuck in an escalator and I lost my shit! I was always nervous on them after ad then final destination sealed the deal for my fear 😅
You guys need to go to BOSCOVS
omg that's the sears at the mall i go to hahah
Jacob the area behind the blue curtain is for sure a liminal space
I LOVE YOUR VIDSSSSS
my sears was here forever then they would turn it into a spirit during Halloween time lol😭
Did you know at one time you could buy a whole ass house from the sears catalog?
yeah that's insane. If there's any left I wanna tour one
Belk supremacy

My mom bought kardashian shower curtains. They were pretty and we used them for over 10 years
Alternate title: we explore the back rooms
Exactly 😂

awww
omg Terry! I bought a baby mannequin and named it Toby. lost siblings
I’m so sorry for your loss
Imagine being the employee who’s watching the security cameras and you see these two doing what they do hahahah
My parents have an old sears catalog from the beginning. Seeing a piano for sale for like $50 is crazy. It's interesting to check out.
That is crazy, oh how the times changed, that 50 dollar piano is like over 700 dollars now
Can you guys please go get a photo shoot done with your siblings at jc pennys?

wow what amazing timing jacob.. yesterday i was pondering the whereabouts of the sears locations.. ❤
If sears brought back the catalog houses I bet they would have so many customers lol
Girl yes😂

But then you need catalog property... and the other nonsense that come along with that lol.

If you’re talking about Indianapolis, it was good, but not super fancy.
ohhhh that makes sense. thanks for teaching me something today
Church of Jacob this Sunday!
“Will you blur everything in my fridge, I just don’t want people to copy my diet”
Gatekeeping a diet is weird as hell 😂
The Sears near me had a McDonalds inside and it was peak. I remembered going there and had so much fun there. There was original and famous elevator brand in there.
HOW did i get here so fast🤣🤣🤣 omg no views?!?

A dream, it was just a dream.

“Jacob got to have his fun in the little baddie, thotiana young-men section” 😂 but I promise, Lucas, you are DEFINITELY not part of the business man demographic… 💀
You and Lucas both have successfully improved my mental health recently and I just want to thank you both for that!

I would shop for clothing at sears often back in high school
It always empty so I would always find my sizes also the fitting rooms were always empty

WOWWWWWWW , I JUST MADE A POST ON FACEBOOK THIS MORNING FLEXING ABOUT HOW , I Shop at SEARS 💅🏻 because I'm THAT Girl 😂😂😂😂💯
Sears died when middle class America did. 🇺🇸 These stores arent relelvant to the lower/higher class. People with money will just fork out for full-priced luxury products& everyone else is too broke for appliance purchases. RIP
Idk why but the fake plants took me out 💀
You can tell Lucas is a (young) millennial because he said “computer room.”
Sears and Kmart had really nice clothes especially back then Walmarts clothing wasn’t as nice.
Imma be honest, I didn’t know they were closing worldwide
low key this humor is waaaayyy under rated 😂😂😂😂😂 jacob and luscus + jacobs editing = prime comedy
