Good video, Keven! I took basic at Ft Jackson, C-7-2, Jun-Aug 1981. I was sick in the hospital for 3 days during grenade training, but I still graduated thanks to my battle buddy, determination, and teamwork! I recall the heat (category 4), sand, and pine trees. Our drills were SSG Eaves and SSG Pritchett. Good luck with your army career, bro!
I went to Fort Sill, Oklahoma close 3 years ago during COVID. Totally crazy time! Enjoyed BCT, best of luck to you future trainees out there & it would behoove you to get in shape, pack light, learn the army song/soldiers creed, army values, ranks, your chain of command & never leave without a battle buddy.
It’s crazy seeing you on my RUclips page. It’s Melville I went through all the same. Shit sucks but it’s not hard to pass. There were people that haven’t worked out in a long time that passed so keep your heads up high.
Same for me. I graduate college here in about 5 months. Should board for OCS in June and go to basic either later that month or in July. We got this bro 🫡🙏🏼

Just an FYI for anyone who's going to FT Jackson. It's all pine trees, you're going to get bad allergies. Also kiddie cough exists. Everyone forgets that during basic training most people have a permanent cough. It's not bad. I recommend going to sick call and complain about a cough and say you have headaches. They will give you a bottle of Tylenol and Motrin along with a bag of cough drops. That Tylenol and Motrin got me through some major soreness and pain lol. Also, "relaxin" Jackson is a lie. You're going to get it worse than fort Benning in some ways and better than in others. Just know it's all mental. Good luck
Getting phone calls for 20+ minutes every Sunday? You guys had it easy! We only got 3 phone calls for those 10 weeks and the longest one was 15 minutes, and that was to inform our parents of family day and graduation.
Night infiltration course is hella fun. I was really fit before I joined, was a runner and lean, pt scores were perfect gos. Don't say this to brag off, I'm suggesting you get a work out system before you join, start doing pushups, sit ups, go jogging every morning, also get a book back pack. Go every where with back pack on with some books. If you tone up some, basic can be a good thing. Was a lot of discipline...but I loved every minute of basic.

NIC at Night = Night Infiltration Course I came in 3rd place in my company at Fort Benning in 2002. Loved that course Thanks for the video, my son is leaving for BCT (Fort Sill) next month and just trying to update myself on the changes.
It’s called the night infiltration course. Low crawl, tracer fire overhead. I was there in 1995 Delta 2/39 “war dogs”. 28 years ago, where did the years go?
I'm heading to basic this May, and, I gotta say, I'm kinda terrified. I'm not exactly fit (not overweight, just generally out of shape) and I'm really worried that I'll be singled out for my physical failures.
My son left from San Diego Ca to Ft Jackson on Nov 1st.2022, he's been Krump dancing for over 5yrs whenever there were sessions or events, he's about 6'2 and 24yrs old. But other than the dancing he never got into weight lifting or the gym thing, he just got tired of irregular jobs, living paycheck to paycheck and asking "me, mom" for a Zelle every month just to make ends meet.🥹 Which I would do no matter what! Anyways, so he finally decided enough is enough, to man up and change his life, he didn't score real high, a 42....but is was good enough for him. I'm SOOO extremely proud of him and scared all at the same time....but I believe in him, he can do anything as long as he puts in 💯% of himself.
