Have watched a few Utd games recently and have noticed Onana make a lot of very good saves, he clearly likes being a shotstopper. However, have also noticed he has a tendency to palm the ball back into the danger area rather than out for a corner or wide. It looks like it hasn't been picked up on much as his defenders in those instances are bailing him out, and that United's performances elsewhere on the pitch have been so disjointed that it's drawn attention from this aspect of Onana's game.
That was very much needed in my opinion, THANK YOU! Key take aways: - Employ the style that suits you, relaxed or intense - Focus on getting into game mode, not on perfecting every rep - Make sure you have a spare pair of gloves handy (some goalkeepers FORGET this)
As a Goalkeeper, i’d say, that this video really helps to understand the style of Onana in the games. I really like his technique, and specifically the style, how he plays and etc. If you going to watch some new games of Man United, make a new video about it too please.😄
Such a great upload! Watching the warm up I’m always struck by the one thing that the top level keepers have, and that is amazing technique! It’s so clean the way they move and handle the ball! Everything just looks so effortless to them.
Watched his warm up last night and it was a show in itself--Dubravkas warm up was also fascinating. However Onanas kicking warm up was indeed perfect--he would hit a six pence on the half way line--the crowd were cheering every kick--his self belief in his abilities is off the scale.
Great video, very clever to turn a day doing something you think would just be a leisure activity into content. Great to see how a pro prepared but the pick problem for people like me at an amateur level is the quality and quantity of servers, it's hard to get enough decent people for a solid warm up. Also my warm up is a lot like onana because I have a lot of pre game anxiety. So I use a chilled warm up to get my head in a good place
Thanks mate. Yes, servers can be a problem - but a lot of these drills you can do with one server, it’s just trying to make sure their quality is good! And it’s good that you’ve found a warm up that works for you!
Obvious difference in the training system between Onana and Heaton was brought up. Onana has a lot of big movement. Not necessarily bad but Dave Watson once made a good point: It slows down some of his near-body shots thus making a goal. Tom Heaton from my perspective, in line with Ben Foster's comment, is very very technical and precise in his movement.
As a Man U fan do you miss De gea? Also what do you think of the Raya/ramsdale situation? I bet you could do a whole video on the way things are moving to having a keeper who’s a sweeper keeper who’s a part of the build up play passing out from the back. Seems like more teams are wanting that
I really liked DeGea.. I know he had flaws, but all players do, and I believe he was taken for granted by the end. And we could definitely do more to touch on the Raya/Ramsdale debate! Very interesting
Thanks for new video.i found change in my warm up idea 👏 waiting for the next.Last time i see mirante warm up(before Juventus game)is more interesting part in warm up
Good video and good tips from you. On Onana i cant help but still be concerned about some of the fundamentals in his game. I've never seen a top goalkeeper such poor control over his parries. The amount of times i'd seem him parrry and it comes off at really strange angles, sometimes popping up in the air or bouncing straight in to the ground. To me it looks like he approachs most shots with a closed fist which is surprising considering that poor control. I also cant help but think that wide stance and movement when the striker is about to shout contributes to his apparent difficulty saving low shots.
He has some really good reflexes that could allow him to save more shots if he attempts to react rather than using a blocking position (saw this happen a few times this year). Pd. I’ve heard some fans complain about him going down slower than he should. I wonder if it comes from his wide stand, maybe less margin to move his outer leg inwards?
Both very laid back & relaxed, seem like they have quite a similar mentality. Onana definitely spent more time on passes. DeGea seemed like he could shift up a few gears when it came to the match too
Do you have any tips on being a better student-athlete ? I know you have been a goalkeeper for a long time and I really enjoy your videos. I'm 15 and in 10th grade. My Head knows that school should be my first priority but my heart knows that really, goalkeeping is. I know that school should come first, but that's really hard for me. Do you have any tips ?
Great question. It's all about balancing your time - there is no reason why you can't be a success in the classroom and on the pitch. I always advise people to get a diary/planner/google calendar type system, where you put in all your 'must dos', such as classes, homework/revision time & tasks, training sessions, games, social activities. Then, you can visually see where your free gaps are, and you can plan any extra work that you want to do, be that for football or school. It is hard, but if you are disciplined with managing your time, you find that you can get a lot of progress on both sides. If you want to chat through any of this further, I offer Skype Calls on my website, and we could potentially work through a schedule together. I hope this helps!
Great video conor just a question I am at my low level and the second goalkeeper of my new team is slowly getting better what should I do. I am the first btw
You really can see his flaws and his strong side. There is a lag of small adjustments in his stance and on the flight. Its all out of textbook, yes, but he struggles with the unexpected, like the drops for example. I wouldnt put all trust on him on a windy or rainy day.

Yes, I’ve noticed that too - maybe more of a focus on getting to the ball, rather than where to push it once he does?
Need more goalkeeper warm ups😍
Would love to do more of these!

I will do definitely!! Glad that you enjoyed the video mate
As a Burnley fan (and a GK) I still have a lot of love for Tom Heaton, always a legend in my eyes
Agreed. Top goalie, very surprised he hasn’t had more games at United
Very rare content on RUclips. Great idea! Thanks for needed info 👍
My pleasure! Glad you enjoyed it
Great insight, much respect from Australia
Thank you!

Agreed! The difference with the pros isn't top corner saves, or things that you and I can't do, it's that they do the basics so well 99% of the time!
Been following your channel for a year- just learned you are a united fan...I like you even more now! lol cheers bro
Hahah love it, cheers mate!
haha same!

Super confident & super relaxed! Definitely key abilities needed for a United GK!
Love this analysis
Cheers Tyler!

Make a video about different ways keepers wear their kit
Eg. Full sleeves with track or short sleeves with shorts etc

I love watching Heaton play, his technique is excellent, and he always looking for those marginal improvements. Top top GK
Nice video very enjoyable great to see how the pros warm up
Glad you enjoyed it!!
Love the content Connor!

Please do you have a video on onana during the match

ONANA 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Good video.
Thank you!
Conor o keefe Never disappoints
Thank you mate!!
conor, what’s your thoughts seeing a prematch warmup between onana and de gea ? after seeing both of them
Both very laid back & relaxed, seem like they have quite a similar mentality. Onana definitely spent more time on passes. DeGea seemed like he could shift up a few gears when it came to the match too
Appreciate this bro
Thanks mate, glad you enjoyed it!
Hi connor
You gave me goalkeeper gloves at skytteholm solna. I want to show you my gloves after everyday use since you gave me them
Hi!! Send me a picture of them on Instagram! I hope you are doing well 🧤
Couldn't care less about United. Great content Con
Thanks mate!

Thank you so much, this is really helpful and I will start trying it right away :) @@ConorOKeefe
Great video conor just a question I am at my low level and the second goalkeeper of my new team is slowly getting better what should I do. I am the first btw
Keep getting better! Focus on you, not them - keep setting your own goals and targets, so that you can keep improving
@@ConorOKeefe thank you
❤❤❤❤❤❤
When I dive for ball I do hurt my elbow alot
Is there a technique issue or else
Maybe - have a look at some pro GKs, and watch how they dive. Is there technique different to yours?
@@ConorOKeefe and a surface where I train it is hard ground so that could be issue
Interesting he didn't join the finishing with the team at the end
Very few do! It’s pretty intense the finishing, and I very rarely see a pro starting goalie join in!
It seems his HR doesnt even go into zone 4 in the warmups 😅
Agreed!! Incredible

Cheats mate really wanted to watch onanas warm up
Glad you enjoyed it!
Why you don't play for Manchester😂 ?
I wish!!
Altay better than onana
