Cheers Conor, once a young keeper, I know all too well it can be difficult on an amateur level to train to improve. This is a great help to young keepers in the same boat! More content to support them would be massively helpful
Phenomenal. As an adult beginner just wanting to enjoy low hobby level soccer, these solo sessions are super practical and helpful. (Hard to find someone who would spend time to help a 44 year old beginner get better at keeper)
there was a time when I was trying to make a living as a goalkeeper. now im 33 and trying to get back into playing again after 4 years off. These drills are very helpful and very inspiring to get back on the pitch again
Just joined a recreational indoor league (haven’t played in probably 8-10 years) and your videos have been really helpful! Keep up the great work, mate!
I've been watching your videos for a while, Connor, it's given me motivation as recently in the past month or two I got into goalkeeping, but being 15 most are telling me its too late but thankfully, a coach recognised some potential in me but I don't train often with him sadly, this video is exactly what I need, thanks!
Great to hear! It's never too late to enjoy playing in goal & to improve. Keep going & you will surprised where you get to! Glad that this video can help in some way
OMG this was so helpful, I am in high school and for the first time in years I have to play keeper. My brothers won’t practice with me so I have been looking for a video with good drills to do on your own! This has been so helpful. Thank you so much!!
My favourite bit you did in this was looking around, to make it match realistic, and getting that muscle memory. I mean for you, you have it... But I'll try this next time! Thanks
I've seen more keepers finish their collapse dives with their top hand on the ball and their lower arm out/bracing themselves, like around 9:45. Is this a tactical move, or is it more of a new technique?
For me, it's more secure, as the ball is less likely to pop out as the momentum of the dive continues! If you try and the ball in both hands & almost push it along the floor as you continue your dive, for me it feels unsteady/more likely to come out of your hands vs this way, but that's just my personal opinion!
Great video, it can be hard to organise some mates to help you train, so showing us some simple exercises that you can do on your own was really helpful thanks.
Hey man great video, just got my liscense so I’m able to drive myself to a pitch. I’ve already done this once and I really liked it, adding a couple of drills myself on top of this. Planning on doing this about twice a week and i might comment on this video in a couple months time to see my progress 🙏🙏
i know this isn’t a big deal unless an attacker is rushing you and could catch your leg, but after a low dive it really annoys me when i see the leg which doesn’t hit the ground go up and form like a 90 degree angle. of course no one is rushing you and in general people won’t so it isn’t a big deal, but yeah it’s the one thing i don’t like that you do. cuz besides that the standard is so high and you’re just such a good keeper overall!
Interesting point, wonder why it bugs you! It something that I've found in certain types of drills/dives, doesn't happen all the time! Never found that it negatively affects the action itself. But as always, appreciate the feedback! Thanks mate!
Conor should have multiple difrent sesions like one like this ,one for high dives and so on,or should i use this sesion only and do it multiple times a week(also have 3x training with the team
If you have 3x team sessions, + a game, I would focus on adding your gym sessions to your schedule first - then you can maybe add one more solo technical session a week to focus on key areas you want to improve on!
Great video that is mate thanks for the advice on how I can improve my game aswell. One thing those skin leggings might need a swap out soon fella 😂👍🏻👌🏻
Quick question mate, @ 10:15, how come you and many other keepers finish in that position when taking a low save. I always was told to keep both hands on the ball and bring it in to secure it, but I see every pro do it this way, how come?
Hi Matt, couple have asked about that. For me, it's more secure, as the ball is less likely to pop out as the momentum of the dive continues! If you try and keep the ball in both hands & almost push it along the floor as you continue your dive, for me it feels unsteady/more likely to come out of your hands vs this way, but that's just my personal opinion!
Love the drills gonna try use next time my training partner cancels. Wondering if you have ever tried grip type socks and what your opinion on them are?
Just played a game yesterday at 3pm CST in Austin. Around 4 ball played through the top of the box, defender attempted to hold off the ST, I went to smother, got the ball , and yet the ST still swung through like was trying to score. Connected with the side of my jaw and *snap*. Broken jaw. Clean cut down the bottom middle. Drove all the way back to Houston and for about the last 10hrs I've been waiting in the ER waiting room. Surgery coming up soon. Just turned 17 a month ago as well. First time I've broken something. Didn't cry or anything😎. Any tips for a fellow keeper.
Do you live in Sweden because piteå if is in Sweden And you have an intesport jacket and its coop and swedbank ads beside the field Föresten du är jätte bra

how can i train solo for smothering 1v1 and / or spreading vs 1v1?
Have a look in my Solo Drills for Goalkeepers video, there are a few drills in there that should help!
Hey brother will you say how
We can buy full equipment for gk ?plese6
I get my gloves from Kaliaaer! Link to their website is in the video description, and there are also links to some of the other kit that I use!
What do you suggest doing for increasing throw length for distribution?
Keep practicing your throwing! Upper body gym work will help too!
The best keeper in the Swedish league
True
Do you live in Sweden because piteå if is in Sweden
And you have an intesport jacket and its coop and swedbank ads beside the field
Föresten du är jätte bra
hey connor you know any good rebounders to purchase from here in the States?
I haven't for a while, I think I might have one linked in the video description, but I just looked through Amazon when I got mine!
How do you find a full pitch to train on?
Fortunately this is our club's pitch!
You could really become professional, maybe even sign for a club. Great work
great❤️
Thanks!
Grinding! How long did it really take you to build that distribution?
Still building it! But been working on it actively for the last 7/8 years!
Do you modify your solo session based on feedback from your coaches or do you build your sessions to reinforce basics?
Bit of both! Important to work on the basics consistently, but then you can add in some drills to work on areas you want to improve as well!
How long should you do each drill for?
Up to you!
my PE teacher called Mr dale mentioned you
What a great man & a great teacher - one of the best I ever had!
Is your matchday ground turf or natural?
Turf!
Hey im just wandering is 13 years old too late to start being a gk also thanks for the tutorial
Course not! Never too late!
What is your record of juggling
I’ve never actually tried to see how long I can juggle for! Sounds like a good challenge!
how is your gloves not damaged from all that training?
Kaliaaer have great durability in their gloves! And keeping them clean helps too
If I could be half the keeper this bloke is I'd be doing alright
What a lovely comment, thank you
You never responded to my comments
