Ray Manzarek was a very talented musician, but besides that he was a very smart and polite man. I could listen to him talk for hours and never get bored.... RIP Ray Manzarek
My late best friend and I were/are Doors/Ray Manzarek fans since about forever. We were just a bit too young to have seen the Doors but, we grew up in the LA area and every time Ray would play in town over the years we'd have to go see him. And even when I moved to the Sacramento area for a job, when Ray was in town, I'd be there. He was such a gentleman, and one hell of a nice guy. It does still hurt that he's moved on.
I love Ray, sure he embellishes every story with the myths of the ages but what the hell; solid dude and a good musician. I just wish they would let me have done the coverart. My god, come on brothers, what were you thinking? The Golden Scarab was good though, absolutely his best work.
